Awesome food and great service here! Came back twice! They do half sizes here too which was helpful. Had the eggs benedict, big breakfast and the porridge. All were great! Awesome coffee too

It was a busy day when my friend and I went in but luckily we found a table. I ordered the vegan meal (can't remember what it was called) it was so yummy, full of flavour and had so much on my plate. Delicious!

We were on a South Island trip with friends and had the opportunity to stop by the Good earth Cafe for breakfast. The place was charming, well lit, serving a large breakfast menu and across the Otago University. We had a good time - food was good and service fast. Highly recommend this cafe.

Warm and friendly, opens early and has great coffee.Great breakfast and close to the University.

Such a cute little breakfast, lunch, or snack spot near the university. I was disappointed that they were out of vegan sandwiches (they should advertise that they are very spicy, my friend had one). But the steak sandwich was PHENOMENAL. And the art was LOVELY.

Amazing atmosphere, food and coffee at The Good Earth. Charming, traditional cafe style furnishings, in a gorgeous old building with up to the minute food.

We had breakfast. The muesli, porridge and eggs Benedict. Great coffee too

Lovely food. They got many selection of vegan, gluten free and diary food choices. Good for fussy customers lol. And I can see they are environmental friendly as they use paper takeaway containers and straws. Can't ask for more in this cafe. I just love it!!

We are from Invercargill and if we are coming through Dunedin heading home from Christchurch we stop in for breakfast or if staying in Dunedin. The food is delicious and filling, We love the porridge, the atmosphere and staff are always welcoming and very lovely. Thanks for everything.

A great little cafe. Has such a lovely atmosphere and fast service, even though I went on Father's Day so it was very busy. The staff were great, so friendly and helpful. My mum ALWAYS complains about her coffee- it's either too hot or too cold, too strong or too weak, BUT at here she had nothing bad to say, and it was presented beautifully (2nd image). I also had a chai latte (1st image), which had great flavour without being overpowering- a rare find! My tomato soup (3rd image) was absolutely delicious, loved every bite. Nice and flavoursome! This is also a great cafe for vegan/vegatarian and gluten free options, as a lot of my family fits that description. There were lots of tasty options available!

Generous serving AND adapting my breakfast for keto preferences….. staff made things seem easy. Yum! Lovely setting. Outside tables with morning sun. Great location for walking & campus access. Wheel chair accessible for both cafe & toilets.

Best coffee in town! We had Bagel smoked salmon and eggs bene with bacon. The Bagel cream cheese smoked salmon and mesculin with my usual mochacino. The smoked salmon was great fresh mesculin however Bagel was quite tough. I requested for a steak knife to cut the bagel. Bagel was crispy and fresh but was just tough when cold. The eggs bene was perfect, runny yolk and bacon was crispy. But could use a bit more of the hollandaise. Good portion too

I invited someone here to get coffee together. The coffee was fairly decent the presentation was good. Overall it was fairly well, I would've given a fairly decent rating. However when I looked up and saw my companions cup of coffee there was lipstick stain on the side facing me.

Love the ambience! Quite a spacious seating plan and beautiful interior decor with that earthy feeling. Their cabinet array is beautiful and the foods cater for vegetarian and vegan which is awesome! The servers are lovely, and I enjoyed the busy yet calming atmosphere.
I decided on an apple and cinnamon scone from their cabinet which was a decent portion size and was heated and served with butter. Upon first bite I thought it was a bit dry, but actually as I ate, the flavor really came through-it was a sweet tasting mild cinnamon flavor with a muffin-bread-doughy like texture. I really enjoyed this more than I thought I would! 4/5
Their items seem well priced but I’ve always been skeptical about cafe food and ordering from the daily menu since it can be pricey, but maybe one day I’ll come back for their menu, at the moment I’ll stick to discovering the best cabinet finds!!

Loved this cafe, surpassed all expectations. I was only in Dunedin for the one night and this place was just up the road from where I stayed. So nice to see a reusable straw in action, and great options for vegan/vegetarians!

Located opposite the otago uni. Awesome 8ndoor atmosphere. Wide selection for veetarians and good vegan options at same price. We had vege and vegan breakfast for 4. Tasty food, friendly staff, awesome setting, wishe they were present in Auckland too!

Great little café opposite the Uni! The three of us all had smoked salmon (mine with eggs on toast and the others in a bagel). We all enjoyed our meal and thought the courtyard/outdoor seating was perfect on a sunny day, and the art on the walls were a great addition to the ambiance. My dish was $19.

Absolutely loved it. Lovely atmosphere with the sun streaming in friendly service and beautiful, fresh and tasty food. It was so hard to decide on as everything sounded and looked great. Finally I ordered the organic vegetable hash with poached eggs served on rye and sourdough toast and a soy chai. They were delicious. What a gem..I will definitely return!

On Saturday 31st May we were driving through at 8.20 am and happened upon The Good Earth. Bright, clean but cold inside. I wish at that point I had left. I did not take my scarf or coat off for the next 20 mins. The staff were all in shirtsleeves, and unfortunately seemingly oblivious to the arctic temperature. The coffee was barely warm and needed to be drunk quickly. The fruit table cards rather than numbers are a cute idea, but not if your wait staff don't recognize the fruit! We watched our meals sail past us to another table, where the waiter tried to insist that they had the blueberry card! When we did finally tuck in, while visually appealing, the food and plates were barely warm, and the bacon could have been cooked for longer.

We ate quickly and escaped to our warm car. It could have been a lovely meal, if only management had allowed for the fact that it was freezing outside. Next time your clients leave after 20 mins without taking their coats off, you might like to wonder why.

From reading other reviews perhaps I struck the cafe on a bad day.
The salmon bagel was poorly presented with some dried stick inedible plant garnish. Insipid supermarket flavourless tomato and not a great bagel. The lemon wedge had old dry wrinkled rind on it and a single out of place cherry tomato had just been tossed in the top of the bagel as an additional garnish. I could make so much better than this at home and I'm no great cook.
Really disappointing when I've heard good things about the food here. On a positive note the brownie was tasty.

Staff are extremely friendly. The best coffee and food hands down in Dunedin. The staff put a lot of pride into their service and menu ,and it truely shows. Vegetarian and vegan options are available. The vegan cake is the best I have ever tasted. Amazing.

Stopped for a quick lunch and was not disappointed. Good food and pleasant service.

This cafe is very popular with staff and students from the surrounding University of Otago campus and it isn't difficult to understand why. The theme is such that until the blackboard menu is perused, the cafe might be taken to be vegetarian. There are plenty of vegie options, but omnivores are catered for too. The young staff are very pleasant and friendly, the coffee excellent and the food options I've tried on my two visits delicious. Clean, bright and cheery. Hard to fault, really!

We went looking for a yummy fresh breakfast and found it here. Delicious free range beautifully cooked scrambled eggs with organic bread and organic bacon. YUM! Would rate as one of the best breakfasts I have had at a restaurant. Hot good coffee. Locals looked to be enjoying coffee and other treats. Will return and certainly recommend if you are near Otago Uni try it.

Had coffee and a lemon slice which were pretty good. Loved the courtyard and interior of the place!

Very friendly staff, gorgeous food and good coffee. So glad this building is being run as a cafe again, as it's a fantastic location.
