The food was great, and the service was also nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Crumbed mushroom as starter will mouthering your mouth. Will come back next time to try other menus. Plenty of tables, there's chair, bar stool and couch.

Was amazed by the price and awesome atmosphere this restaurant had. Just wanted a decent burger which is exactly what I got! The 2 fellas serving us were so friendly and made sure we were happy.

I had the pancakes with berry compote & cream (but switched the cream for yogurt & added maple syrup). I didn't initially expect much but the moment I saw it, I new it would taste great! Usually I'd get perfectly round & evening coloured pancakes which didn't amount to much taste wise but these were the complete opposite. While neither the colour nor shape was perfect, the taste was better than most pancakes I've had. My only complaint is that about 1/3 of one of them was too thick & therefore not as cooked through as I'd have liked but the rest of it made up for this. The berry compote seemed to be from out of a can which isn't ideal but also not too bad. I definitely left with a full stomach. The atmosphere was pretty chill & my only complaint for that was that multiple tables were left with dirty cups, plates & crumbs. Food was also prompt.

Best things about this place are their sweet desserts and coffee. Cheesecake chunks are very tasty and pretty big, would easily suffice for 2ppl to share. Main courses were good but nothing spectacular. Friendly service.

I dined in today and had the 'Lemon Peppered Fish with 2 Eggs.
For $24.50 i was not happy with the entree size. not value for money. I didn't complain because i ate the steak.

One of the best beef burgers we've tried in NZ. The steak was perfect, the chips delicious and crunchy. In general, a lovely place to dine.

Beautiful place for Brunch. Service was great. Gentleman bringing the meals could be a bit better. Twice took meals to wrong table. Didn't like cutlery in container on table. With covid feel that cutlery should be brought out with the meal.

What an absolute diamond of a find, 5 of us went for dinner and everyone raved about their meal, I had the ribeye mushroom steak, I very rarely order steak when dining out but so so glad that I did, it was one of the best I've ever eaten, service was very friendly, highly recommend and we'll be back when we visit Dunedin again

One of the best steak I've had in town. The meat was cooked to our liking. The chips were crispy on the outside but soft on the inside which is quiet artful. I'd definitely come back.

Very good food and service from Black Dog. The resturant environment is clean, calm and pleasant. Usually a good enjoyable experience and we have been there several times. We particularly enjoy the chicken filo.
