Review Wharf Hotel - Dunedin

Eccles NZ
Amazing food, great menu options. The atmosphere great even though it was quiet. The service was excellent, well worth going here. The picture is the Toffee Apple Pork Belly.

What a great pub...like stepping back to the 1970's, but just with the good bits. Great honest food - even has one dinner item that brags about having no salad. Can also be used for functions... indoor and classic outdoor settings. Staff always up for a chat. Can't fault...

We went for Sunday lunch and had sole and oysters and blue cod and oysters. Both meals were delicious and beautifully cooked. Happy staff, good music a really good vibe👌and child friendly.

Yea we dropped in for a couple beers. There was a bit of a snack on the bar and the sfaff just kept bringing more snacks out. We arrived at 5.30 and left at 7.30. There was a function on in the restroom but they were doing meals in the bar, that was good. Staff were good and service good. Plenty of parking but we found it cold in there and only 12 deg outside. Yea welcome to Dunedin summer

The dining room has been painted and decorated nicely. Fast meals and good value for money. Gluten free options available. Just ask :)

Old school bar and resturaunt. Friendly staff and the meal I ordered had great fish and sea food. One of the best fish I've had in a while.

Super friendly staff, inviting atmosphere, good menu, recommend the Seafood Chowder, which is on a par with Amberley's Railway Hotel.

Excellent food and service. Under new management and new manager is delightful.
Will be definitely going back. Cob loaf seafood chowder was exceptional! A must try for diners.

Good food, more like a elderly eat out at lunch times and some dinners, not really a relaxing place to chill eat an drink. Needs a revamp of the whole interior. bring up to 2015 standards.

They have put the prices up and the service is terrible. Half our table of 5 got their meals. 15 mins later the rest of us wondered where our food was. went to the counter and asked and got fobbed off. another 10 mins and another person went to the counter having finished their meal and the 'manager' would not discuss it. These things happen we were told. No apology, no free drink or anything until we actually yelled. Finally got our last meal 35 mins after the first 3 meals and the waitress did actually say she wasn't cooking but sorry. They can only handle small amounts of diners. Get a big party in and they start missing orders. The 3 diners had to sit and wait for us to finish our meal to leave as they had finished before we got ours.

Went back after a while. Discovered it has new owners and WOW the food was great. I got the blue cod and it was perfect fresh and loved the salad with it. My husband had the steak and he said it was the best he has had in a long time medium - rare just the way he asked. We have been back since and food just as great as the first time. Price average and a great family restaurant.

Best place in town for Blue cod, I guarantee you. I'm such a fussy person but I tell you out of all the places in this city if you want blue cod. This is the place to go. Just writing this makes me hungry.

Blimey! A Tuesday lunchtime I figured I might be the only diner, but there were over 40 people in there, all busy eating or waiting for food (and few if any who'll see 50 again!).
Well, I guess that's why my meal took 27 minutes - not good, but surely exceptional circumstances (though the bartender reckoned this crowd wasn't abnormal!?!).
Anyway, $12 roast meal was very good - basic fare but nicely cooked, and plenty of it. AND they served pumpkin without its skin, something I really like!
