I took my mother here recently for a sporadic dinner and glad I did. The little place is super nice and feels homely. The staff were very good and attentive even noticing there was a very small bit of food in a glass of wine while bringing the glass over to us and immediately replacing. The food was very good and well priced. Tasted like authentic Thai with lots of vegetables. Flavor was amazing. Highly recommend. We had the green curry and the black pepper chicken stir-fry. Will be back for sure

A great evening for a group. Had a banquet so much nice food. Simple but fresh Thai very aromatic and great tastes. Totally recommend trying this Thai Restaurant- dosen't look much fro the outside, but never judge the book by its cover. This place is all about the food and its all good.

One of my very favourite cafes , particularly as it is so near to my home . The interior is much nicer than one would think from the rather plain exterior . Really worth a visit , we go there fairly often . Soups are particularly top class , but all of the meals are good , well presented by caring , courteous staff . Small , often quiet ( we go early) but always a joy to eat there . One caution , early appearance at 5pm without warning will often catch them unprepared despite the 5pm official opening . Cost is very reasonable for the area .

worth every penny. so damn good. since we flew back ive noticed that ive been craving this place every other week, and here in the states I cant find a place like Thai Family. very amazing airbnbs on this street. near bus stop and walkable. bus walk combo to ferries to auckland. family friendly, nice local swim spot and golfing in this area, stop by for lunch! good spot for family golfer and faimly can swim then eat here after!

Beautiful meal here tonight, fresh crispy vegetables and glorious flavours. Nice cozy atmosphere and friendly, efficient service. We will definately be visiting again. Thank you.

Super bland and soggy pad Thai with barely any beansprouts. Would rather go to momo tea <br/><br/>Disappointing meal as this is the local "go to" spot, would defs like to give the curries a go though

We hear from a friend about this place, place look nice and clean. Food menu is same like any other restaurant around. Food come on time but i feel they can put lil bit more flavor in dishes they taste more like kids meals from local fish n chips shop

Great atmosphere at Thai Family Restaurant and decent food. Their menu had an interesting mix of dishes that are different to your traditional Thai food: sweet and sour fish, sizzling beef hot plate (Chinese?) and lamb ribs (cooked the European way) etc. As a big table we ordered a variety to share. The food came relatively quickly and were in big portions. However I found the seasoning of all the dishes to be on the heavier side and I had to drink a lot of water during and after the meal. Overall it's yum, very affordable and convenient for people in the neighborhood. However knowing that there are other places that have better presentation and taste, I will not be traveling to eastern beach to visit this place again.

The Thai Family Restaurant never disappoints! Service is amazing and super friendly. Food came out very quickly and seemed really fresh. We have the stir fried vegetables and tofu in a peanut sauce, 10/10 would highly recommend!

Had a take out from there. Normally good but not good at all last night. Watery sauce with dried out chicken. Soup was a very small portion as well.

Never reviewed before .. But Have been here so many times .. If you want a lesson in good service and good food try this neat little place in the beach ..<br/>They are experienced in delivery and cook well to your taste .. Enjoy !

Definitely an average Thai restaurant. Green chicken curry and a snapper with sweet chilli sauce was our order. I had to request the green curry to be cooked spicy ( green curry is the one of the hottest curries in Thai cooking.) This was a bad sign. The curry arrived with additional fresh red chilli's added to make it hot. The curry was too sweet, way too sweet. And the green curry is made with green chilli's hence the colour!! So red chilli's is a mistake. Raw uncooked chilli's spoils the flavour. <br/>The snapper was small bite size Pieces but were overcooked and dry. And the sauce was TOO SWEET!! it really was desert sweet sugary syrupy and not pleasant. Staff were pleasant.

I have been here many times before until Rattana Thai opened & gained me over; now Rattana Thai is gone (and is just replaced by Moti Mahal). We had simple dishes for a quick dinner - Pad Thai Gai & Kang Dang Ped (roasted duck with red curry). Pad Thai was too sweet, as usual & curry, too mild. (Food - 3/5; Service - 3/5; ambience - 2.5/5; wait staff were too noisy talking all the time)

Been buying Thai takeaways from this place for years now, always delicious! When you dine in it is also lovely, always friendly and smiling staff. Added bonus that they happily cater to the vegans and vegetarians in my family. 5 stars for sure :)

Good food, but it seems that they are quite under staffed. Came here for dinner for a birthday dinner with the family, and the service was friendly but very slow. Plates remained uncleared for a considerable amount of time. Would recommend visiting on quieter nights.

After reading great reviews about this place decided to try another new to me Thai restaurant. Booked for 3 but at the last minute my daughter decided she didn't want to come. So when we arrived they quickly tried to put us in the 2 seater table directly behind the door where the door swings back and hits the table every time some one come's in.. I quickly refused and didn't see the fuss as there was only one other table occupied the place was dead. We were seated at a table that was awkwardly partly under the counter/bar, where the waitresses had full view and stood there throughout our meal gawking at us and speaking in tongue's so we couldn't understand them. We branched out and tried something new selecting options from the chefs specials menu. I ordered the Crispy pork with green curry sauce and veges and my friend ordered the yellow curry. Dishes arrived in ok time and very small for the inflated prices (Guess you have to pay more at the beach) The sauce on my dish was delicious the rest was crap!! Pork was just over cooked chewy fat couldn't chew it enough to swallow so had to spit it out! Yellow curry was watery and unappealing. We had to try to eat this while being watched and talked about by servers very uncomfortable and wasn't worth the drive. When complained they didn't care. Just another prime example of a crap eatery charging way too much for their food and not caring about the quality or the customer. What can you do but give them the review they deserve.

Have had many good meals here with friends over the past 3 months. Always the service is good and the price is right and the food seems freshly cooked and tastes delicious. Will be going again in 2014!

Went here for a birthday with about 30 people, were very dissapointed with the service and food. Each table was given their rice and our table was made to wait 30min for food to come out resulting in the rice being cold then each dish took about 10 min to come out at a time. We were told we would get 8 meals per 10 people and we only received 6. The waitress never once asked if we wanted drinks or how the food was and walked around with her earphones in while serving our table. All the tables were bunched and you could hardly move. Once we could tell them of their mistake we were told we should have notified them food was missing which we couldnt do as the waitress never paid any attention to us. The food was good however but the whole experience was ruined and I will not be back

Have visited this restaurant many times and they are consistent, the food is good, however went with a larger party recently and one table was kept waiting for mains while the other was finished. <br/><br/>Staff are friendly however the decor is dated and seems an odd miss mash of styles.<br/><br/>Wasn't impressed with the duck and wouldn't order this dish next time, others on the menu are much better.

We have heard nothing but great reports of the food at this restaurant. We went on Saturday night with friends and we were not disappointed. Very fresh, tasty food and very generous helpings. The prawns were huge but could just have been cooked a little longer. The empty plates told the story and we were too full to have desserts but maybe next time. We shall definitely be back.

One of the best Thai places in Auckland! <br/><br/>Lovely place to meet friends for an informal meal. The decor is dated but feels cosy and welcoming.<br/><br/>The food is fresh and full of flavour. The scallops were big and juicy as were the prawns. The portions were generous and the staff are lovely.<br/><br/>We will be back :)

We were on holiday and staying very near this restaurant and could smell the food from our house so we tried it.<br/>The restaurant was jam packed full of people which we assumed meant a lot. We got takeaways<br/>It was BY FAR the nicest Thai food I have ever eaten. Seven of us ate and seven of us went back the next night for more. It was the sort of food where everyone discusses just how delicious it is through-out the entire meal!<br/>I liked how they cut the corner off the spring roll container to keep them crispy and they give a 10% discount for take away.<br/>This is the first review I've ever given and it was because I found the food exceptional!
