The place was peaceful and could hear yourself speak. Nearby other place so loud and noisy exceptionally so. Had to leave and came to Colombus, busy but could hear yourself think.

Decent, but not especially inspiring food for the price. Attractive building. Lovely coffee.

I visit this cafe a lot. The thing that I like the most about it is that you never feel cramps here. It's light bright and breezy. The food and coffee is also good. Nothing exceptional but you will always find something to suit your palate.

Great location, and good place to catch up with friends or with your group. Healthy food, tea and coffee to choose from.

Had the Supreme omelet and it was great. The only issue is the tables outside have been painted with something that has left them really sticky to the touch. Also the tables are really uneven and the coffee is on a definite lean.

Grabbed a salmon quiche and hot chocolate for lunch. Nice to have something warm during a cold weather but for me the salmon quiche was average. There were grated carrots inside but that didn’t match with the salmon. Loved the chocolate drink though, very generous amount with a nice layer of fluffy milk

Came here for breakfast with my family - the french toast was a good size and got the thumbs up from my son. The mushrooms on ciabatta were nice but too much pesto drowned out the meal as well as making the bread too soggy so was not eaten. The Columbus Breakfast was delicious - eggs were cooked to perfection and the rest of the meal was very tasty.

Not a busy place
Coffee ok.
Ordered lemon and ginger tea
Mixed salads.
Chicken panini

All lack a tad of seasoning
Panini was ok.possibly too much cheese. It's a choice thing I guess
Salad was fair. Kumara indian is definately best

Tea seemed to lack ginger. Upon querying got the blank look of .. I dont care or know
Dropped scale due to.. front house staff not caring to resolve it.

Setting that aside. Nice lay out. Clean and food presented well in cabinets

Read comment. Not a great lunch today, undercooked fritters had to be sent back to the kitchen, very small amount of fries with blat, which was very average for $18.50. Table was greasy with bits of food on it, will not be going back sadly.

Visited Columbus Ellerslie today which has a good vibe but food very average! We had the fennel sausage roll 3/5, orange cake & blueberry muffin both 3/5. Coffee tasted like instant sadly a 2/5. Won’t be back in a hurry!

Food was good. Two of the orders came out wrong, but Staff were very polite & helpful and recorrected this. Pleasant experience. Coffee was excellent though.

A lot better than expected.

Most of the food at Columbus cafes are pretty average, this one is actually not bad.

The Paleo breakfast a little dull, but the rest was pretty cool and nice. Good place to chill in the morning or afternoon.

Service: 4/5
Food Quality: 3.5/5
Food Quantity: 3.5/5
Environment: 3/5
Presentation: 3/5
Price per person: $20-$25
Used to be the place to come in Ellerslie but now surpassed by others like MELBA next door...always much busier the this one, found their menu options pretty limited, especially in the GF section.

A group of four of us arrived at Columbus, sat down and weren't given any notice by any of the staff. We went up to order and had to grab ourselves water from the water station. When we sat down, we noticed that all the glasses were dirty and the water was warm and had floating bits in it. The coffee came out at different times and tasted bitter despite my order being a mochachino with sugar. They attempted to give us drinks that weren't ours and had to ask what our drinks order was two times. After receiving most of our drinks, we waited on smoothies for a very long time until we finally had to go up and ask how long they would be. When we finally were given our food, the bread was already buttered, and covered with eggs which by this time made the bread soggy. The extras we paid for were missing and the food was served on black, unclean, plates. However, the serving size and quality of the food was quite good. As couple of us work or have worked in customer service and hospitality we didn't mention anything to the staff as we understood that it was still the beginning of the year and that maybe they were understaffed, as well as the fact that we were just happy the food was good. However, the cafe was extremely quiet and it was just disappointing that the local cafe I used to go to many years ago, felt like it had made less of an effort in customer service then a fast food restaurant, where you order online, arrive when it specifies and your food is cold and old.

Had a couple of frappés with my friend. Caramel and vanilla. Would could hardly tell the difference between the two because the colours were very similar.

I liked that it lacked colour which felt more organic rather than artificial colouring.

Not too sweet and it was thick. Not watery and not too icy.

First visit here and I was delighted with the friendly and quick service.Mocha was pretty good and the Caramel slice hit the spot.Pleasant vibe and good table distances. Will definitely return.

Rating is for the takeaway flat white I had today...Columbus can be hit and miss with their coffee, but this barista got it perfectly right, really hit the spot! Cabinet food looked appetising and fresh as well, but had eaten elsewhere..maybe next time.

This is a local cafe that I attend mainly out of convenience with its location and good parking etc. (The Melba tends to be very crowded... )
I don't eat here really but the coffee is okay. Friendly and polite service.
The cafe does have bad acoustics, with the really loud noise of the blender/coffee grinder going off at regular intervals...This proves to be disruptive to free flowing conversation and very annoying!
Was in there yesterday and my friend and I both commented on how we were literally "sticking" to the chairs, having to peel off our clothing from the surface? Time to attend to polishing them properly?

Staff are friendly and polite, but ordered the big breakfast and it had human hair sitting on top of my poached eggs. Sent the meal back and they re-cooked the eggs and re-heated the whole meal which didn't taste too good. The coffee service was good, but don't think I will go back to eat there again.

Easy parking and the sun flows in during the morning.

I had the scramble eggs which were ok, a little more imagination would have helped the taste and presentation.

The coffee and service is good.

Worth a stop if passing.

Had an awesome big breakfast here, best breakfast I've had in a long long time, great service, sat outside in the sun and good food, best cafe in Ellerslie by far!

great food everytime, coffee's fine service is fast and efficient, worth every cent, nice change from the other cafes in ellerslie, outdoor eating is a treat as usually always busy inside. Highly recommended.
