Review Carnegies Restaurant & Bar - Fairlie

We came by for dinner at Carnegies as we stayed nearby, unfortunately for us it was Xmas season and the kitchen was packed with orders and overall the team was short staffed, food took quite a while to arrive (1.5 hours or so). That said it was likely not the usual expectations of service just a bad luck on timing, the staff were highly apologetic and to be fair they did also caution us on long wait times. I am giving 5 stars for the really good service and food, the steak is pretty good being juicy and well charred with a good amount of sides, same can be said of the lamb and burgers.

Amazing food, the steak was cooked perfectly. Really good-sized meals. Fantastic service with the perfect desert to finish the night.

It was quiet when we arrived, and we weren’t sure if it was going to be good but it was actually delicious. The service was excellent and we ate every single bit of our food including dessert! Highly recommend if you’re in town.

It was a delight to do a walk in after on a Sunday evening, when the place was already packed to the brim. Flushed faces from the staff told me the southern hospitality was in full swing & I knew we were in for a treat! Go see for yourself the menu, prices and experience the friendly staff because the food is so worth it. I had the lamb 😋 10/10

Wow, what a great experience from superb service, delicious food and excellent atmosphere. Sitting barside you see first hand the skill, soul and effort put into every dish 😍. The head chef kindly shared his advice to utilise a wood fired oven in so many ways to prepare many delicious dishes 👍😋

We had delicious dinner outdoors at Carnegie’s. The roast lamb was tender and tasty. The lamb and blueberry pizza was delicious. The service was authentic and friendly. We had to wait a while for our food to arrive but it was worth the wait. Nice eclectic modern decor inside.

Had dinner here while we were staying in Lake Tekapo. Nice ambience and great food.

Great restaurant and even better food, had to pop my pants button as we ate way to much. Generous servings and wonderful flavors. Staff were also very friendly and knowledge about the various options on their menu.

we order lamb rack, salmon steak and garlic pizza. Taste really good. The staff are really nice. There is a live band show and we did enjoy the wonderful melody and songs.

Best pizza I have ever had Meat Lovers you just couldn’t get much better! Service is great. I recommend to anyone who is a pizza lover!

Wow! One of my favorite meals on my whole trip of New Zealand, and situated in the smallest town I visited - very unexpected. Got the half rack of lamb and it was just amazing. The fries were incredible too. Anyone travelling through lake Tekapo/Fairlie area needs to come here! A hidden gem! Value for money is incredible!

We went here for dinner and had a great meal, reasonably priced as well. Food was delicious.

What a great dining experience. Not only was the service so personal, but also a very satisfying meal. The lamb chops seem to be a hit as most of the customers had ordered it. The portion was generous and tasty. Pizzas were also very popular. Between a 1/2 rack of lamb and a large pizza, the meal was completely filling for two people. Also, love their bar motto, “Doubles served unless otherwise requested.” Would drive out of my way to go here again.

Both my wife and I were recommended that Carnegie's was the only decent restaurant in Fairlie, both so happy with our meals and service. The lamb rack and full rack of pork ribs were so huge, we had some for lunch the next day. The outdoor area could be spruced up with a tidy up with all the leaves and marks left on the glass fencing but a restaurant is remembered by their food and service with both getting 10 out of 10. Shame you guys aren't in one of the cities of NZ 😁😁

On a beautiful Sunday night I was provided great service with my food arriving super quick! I had the most delicious rack of lamb I have ever had, and a beautiful rib eye steak. The food was some of, if not the best I have ever had. Absolutely worth the drive from Tekapo if you are staying, absolute props to the chefs!

We went on a Monday evening and I had the salmon and wife the ribs both cooked in the pizza oven and were absolutely delicious. Roast potatoes and veg were great. We couldn't find fault with anything and would definitely recommend 👌
