Review The Last Kitchen - Fox Glacier

Pretty much the best eatery we have visited on our fortnight trip so far. My green curry was perfection. My wife’s lamb shank slid off the bone. The kids menu was great for our children. It was a very tidy and pleasant setting and the staff were exceptionally attentive and polite. We probably shouldn’t have got desserts, but they were sickening delicious! Pleased with the price: was one of the few times my end-of-meal Bill guess was considerably higher than actuality, so my wallet was pleased too.

Very helpful staff, we didn’t have a booking and were offered several options. Food was good and decent proportions . Steak was properly good and the ragout was excellent. Desserts were quite nice, well presented and inventive . The place was quite full on a Monday night. Had run out of some food options by 8pm . Reservations are helpful No paywave, international credit cards accepted

Lovely flavours, pork belly so soft and not fatty. Generous children’s pasta and vegetables, donated a few of my spicy prawns. Excellent dinner.

Everything we ordered was delicious, and if we were staying in the area for longer would be back again tomorrow! The steak was cooked exactly as requested, with what turned out to be the perfect amount of mashed potato which came out as fluffy as the menu described. My wife got the cashew chicken and only managed half of it, happily taking the other half away for lunch the next day. And saving herself some room to split the chocolate cake, which was elegance in the mouth. Moist but with a consistency that kept it from falling apart, and warmed just enough to make the ice cream taste even better once combined.

We visited in the January school holiday period and the town was pretty quiet. Not too many people, which is kind of sad to see. We ordered steak and chips and the kids chose nuggets and chips from the Kid's menu. Food was pretty good. Reasonable priced drink menu as well

Good combination of spices, friendly staff, clean place and nice location. Meat is tender enough for a year old baby to eat. Kids enjoyed chicken fried rice.

The only 3 restaurants remain open in this Covid global pandemic. This town used to be so crowded and now hardly any people. We would like to support. Meals meet expectations, it is ok. The manager actually forgot the icecream for the kids meal. I hope it is a genuine mistake.

Wasn’t expecting much in a small village but the steak was spot on and was very good restaurant quality on par with big cities. Owner lady was very nice too. A blessing for this village.

Stunning meals from Steak to seafood. Beautifully cooked and presented, tasted divine. Delightful host, highly recommend.

Delicious! Very friendly and attentive service plus great food, the cider went down well too Simply a very enjoyable meal at a nice restaurant. Would recommend if in town. PS: The pork belly was YUM!

Ordered chicken burger and fish and chip. It did not disappoint. Very recommended.

We had the Beef Burger, Fish Burger and Chicken Burger, they were all really tasty! Size of the Chip portion was a little small but otherwise really worth stopping in.

Just had dinner at The Last Kitchen and my husband and I both agree that it is the best dinner of our holiday so far. Pan fried fish cooked perfectly, vegetables still crunchy, berry compote dessert a perfect finish. Service was fast and professional. Well priced too. Would definitely recommend

I ordered takeaway from there yesterday for dinner and I just wanted to say how good the veggie burger was. I got it without the bun because I can't eat gluten and it was still amazing. Such good flavors, pickled veggies and the spices and chutney sauces that go with it are really tasty. If you are looking for a good vegetarian meal with some really good flavors I suggest that burger. Fries were a wee over done but still totally worth it. Thank you!

Amazing that within such an unassuming building in a remote location that there was such well-executed fresh variety of dishes. The goat and seafood dishes were excellent. The kids meals had more than usual care and preparation. The food was so good that I didn’t mind paying their $43 for a $10 bottle of wine. Thanks guys.
