Review Hikari - Frankton

Family of five. We had a teppanyaki meal where you sit at a counter surrounding a bbq hot plate. Hilarious and entertaining chef Jason made us laugh for over an hour while cooking our meal in front of us, singing and doing tricks. The kids thought it was too good to be true, being challenged to catch eggs or pieces of food in their mouths. The food was high quality fresh steak and seafood, (as well as chicken, eggs and rice) expertly cooked. A truly memorable meal.

Pros Quick service - Lunch time Friendly staff Great food Average pricing Nice atmosphere- Casual Parking was easy I have no complaints. I enjoyed the food and the staff was very accommodating. The dish was served hot and the food had good flavors. Very delicious and would return to eat here again. -American

Stopped by for lunch. If you're a first time tourist and think the portions are small this is new Zealand portion so don't be disappointed. Inflation has hit this country hard. The food was tasty and fresh. Left feeling nourished so no complaints from me. Would come again if I needed a dose of rice. Looks like they don't do Teppanyaki for lunch only dinner. Photo is of katsu curry.

Chanced upon this place when we are en route from Queenstown to Wanaka during our holidays in Nov 2019. Loved the dishes and the "entertainment" by the chef. Ambiance is lovely and the prices are reasonable. Update (June 2022): And we are back when the NZ Borders are open! Back for the entertainment and the food quality and service is impeccable as always!

So so good! Best seafood in queenstown hands down.

Ordered the Spicy Yaki Soba (chicken) and did not regret it. It has a slight bite to it without being overbearing as to detract away from the taste of the noodle itself. The mountain views outside the restaurant is already stunning, but the food is just remarkable.

Taste is good. Ordered sweet spicy chicken karage, skin is crispy and sauce is good but inner chicken meat could do with more flavor. Ramen had nice flavor but not amazing. Would love to try teppenaki one day. Good view of remarables from restaurant. Clean and new.

We had the Teppanyaki experience and it was unforgettable! Jayson, our chef, was funny, talented, entertaining and a master of cooking! We had such a fun night, he made us laugh a lot and we ate delicious food. Could not recommend the experience more.

I love this restaurant. Great and fast service. Fair price. Delicious food. Today my dish has more rice then I would like, but I was after something new.

Absolutely delicious authentic Japanese food! The Ramen was delicious and was exactly like the ramen I had in Japan. Fast and friendly service and mid range prices. Will definitely be back for more deliciousness 😋

This teppanyaki place was amazing. The food was delicious and the teppanyaki person was very interactive, getting us to catch eggs and creating fire. Would highly recommend.

Ramen was delicious. Friendly staff. We went twice. Once for lunch and a second time for dinner, we arrived half an hour before they were closing, and they were still welcoming and willing to serve us.

Ordered a tofu ramen, aburi salmon donburi and a vegetable tempura (not pictured). The vegetable tempura was so good - probably the nicest tempura we have ever had! Service from staff was also excellent.

Ordered the Katsu Chicken and Spicy Ramen. Both were excellent!
