Review Portofino - Gisborne

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal tonight…our 6 year old boy ate nearly all his pizza, he will have one piece left over tomorrow..we loved our seafood dishes and desserts were impeccable…a big thank you to Giovanna, she was so helpful, lovely waitress…I told her it was my husbands birthday and I asked if she could surprise him with a tiramisu and she asked if I wanted happy birthday written on it…that was so kind of her to ask…thank you! Highly recommend this restaurant!

As an avid enjoyer of hot sauces and spicy foods, the Macaroni Rustici delivered a fantastic blend of flavour and heat. I highly recommend trying it. Tiramisu, a traditional Italian dessert was the choice to finish off the night. Will be back for sure!

We hired out the venue for a private function at very short notice. William and his team were very accommodating and put on a great spread for us and we’re very hospitable. Appreciate the service and the hospitality.

Amazing experience!! - arrived on a Saturday night and was informed the wait staff were short staffed. However the kitchen was in full swing. Even though the two servers were new (amazing job to the both of them)! The service was excellent and quick, the meals were timely and SO DELICIOUS! We had a great time and could not recommend Portofino anymore, definitely the best spot in gisborne! Will be back again!

A fantastic Sunday lunch with friends today. Pizza, slow-cooked lamb-shanks, salad and a delicious Porcini mushroom and truffle risotto - the best risotto I ever had in NZ. I highly recommend this restaurant for it's tasty but affordable food.

Amazing Italian food and lovely atmosphere. Very good service👍🏻 We had a seafood risotto, chicken and mushroom risotto, and a pizza. Seafood risotto was really delicious😋 Highly recommend!

Our table had the Ravioli, and Risotto alla pescatora for mains. Nice seafood in the Risotto. Italian Chocolate cake and Tiramisu were the selected desserts. Tiramisu was a highlight.Service was efficient and friendly. Well worth a visit if you're going out for dinner in Gisborne.

My friend and I walked in last night and were welcomed in with a friendly hello. The staff found us a table straight away even thou we didn’t book a table as (our previous place we booked at had an hour wait for food which we weren't going to do!!)Our waitress was amazing, getting menus and water for us straight away. We ordered our drinks which promptly arrived. Our meals came out to us within 20 minutes and there were quite a few people in the restaurant. Our risotto was DELICIOUS!! 🤩🤩 We couldn’t even finish our meals, there was so much per serving that we took the leftovers home!!😊😊 Thank you so much to the amazing staff, it was such a pleasure to dine in last night.

You have a great point of difference for Dining in Gisborne. Was caught out by the water bottles on the table, was at least 10 minutes before anyone asked us about drinks, so naturally opened the water on the table At $9 a bottle I would rather not have it....Cheapest red wine bottle $39.50 Just thought it was a little steep. However a great dining experience. Food, atmosphere loved it and a total bill of under $100 awesome despite the beverage prices. .Just a thought free filtered water should be more readily available.

Delicious food, very friendly staff. Fast service. Beautiful atmosphere and decor to dine in. Only down side was that we had to ask for water refills and our glasses were taken away too soon. Keep the water flowing and you'll have perfection.

We had a lovely meal there on Wednesday night. Vibrant atmosphere. Such a great new addition to the Gisborne restaurant scene.

4th time visiting William and his team at portofino, such an asset to Gisborne. Working my way through their fantastic menu. The staff are perfect and really make us feel very welcome including our 9 year old. Thanks to all :)
