Review Papadums - Glen Eden

Anatolii Vorobiov
Best dosas in Auckland. Have been regular here for last 2-3 years. I tried dosas in few other places all over the city but Papadums have that perfect dosa that is not too soft and not too dry. Prices are great. I love having dosas with chai or filtered coffee. Other dishes like curries ans starters are also good but when me and my friends want dosas there is no question where we are going - Papadums.

Authentic Indian goat biryani👌 enjoyed the food. Worth trying.

Food was great, atmosphere was a little low as there was no music playing in the background.

One of the top 3 authentic South Indian Restaurants in Auckland. Yummy food 🤤. Must try for all Indian food lovers.

I have dined here three times now. The food is top notch and improves each time. Edit - Dined again today (May 22) still my go to South Indian spot

Good food. Always to the point. Lamb biryani is spicy, exactly the way I like it. Great quantity for what you pay. Dosas are really good.

Usually the food is good here. But for the last 2 times, the chicken in biryani is being over burnt. Prawns in the biryani were also over burnt/fried.

Delicious south Indian food. One of the best South lndian food in Auckland. It is more of a takeaway place as the seating is much. Staff is nice and humble. Ample parking around.
Sree Hari

This place has a few dishes that really standout. The crab curry, chicken 65 and korma curry taste excellent and is a must try!
But some dishes can lack in flavour and could be cooked better. Such as the lollipop that I have ordered a couple of times. The first time the batter was raw and the second time it was extra cooked and got too hard and chewy to eat.
Dosas are ok but the sambar is just dal and not authentic as you would expect South Indian sambar.
Ideal for takeaway as dine in is not a good option. The place is small with the kitchen in the centre and can be stuffy when they are cooking.

We ordered quite a few items and loved everything except the veg kuruma since we thought it would be South Indian style but was not. The veg briyani especially was amazing and one of the best I've had in Auckland so far. The Gobi starter was really delicious as well and it tasted like something you would have back in India.

Tried this place first time based on one of my friends recommendation. Food is yummy, fish fry and biryani is amazing. I would recommend this place for seafood and biryani. Would love to visit again.

Though the place is really small the Food was really good, better than some famous Indian restaurants.

Small, but great. One of the best Dosa I have had outside of India. Happy tummy.

I hate to do this, but I've been let down and am highly disappointed. I used to be a regular here to have fresh idlies but I've been disappointed for the last 2-3 times. When someone pays $10 they would expect it to be fresh but it wasn't, they had premade it and just microwaved it before serving. I usually call to preorder it so that when I go to dine in it's fresh, but all I have experienced so far is hard and not easily eatable idlies. Being a South Indian idli is very basic and when someone can't deliver it then I don't know what else to comment! The only place in West Auckland serving fresh idlies is no more 😔

Been here 4 times now, and the food and quality has been consistent every single time ✅.

The non veg platter is a must have as the chicken is freshly cooked in different flavours & the lamb sheek kebab is full of flavour. The dosa & chicken curry is another awesome dish to have from here. Really gives it that true South Indian feeling. The sambar lacks taste but the coconut Chutney makes up for it 👍. Staff here are very friendly and so are the cooks. The Andhra fried fish is also a must have. You won't be disappointed in any of the dishes here.

P.S don't order dishes like fried rice etc, because it is not an indo Chinese restaurant it is an authentic South Indian restaurant.

Ambience : ⭐⭐⭐
Staff : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Food : ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Price : ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Overall : ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Waited for an hour to finally be yelled at by the Uber driver who refused to drive down the driveway (which every other driver hasn’t had a issue doing) and cancelled the order leaving me with no meal and disgusted by the service. Called the restaurant who washed off their hands saying it’s an Uber issue deal with them. They said it’s happened 4-5 times with other customers then why partner with them?? Never going to bother with the restaurant or Uber eats in future - thanks heaps!

Wow is the word if you are looking for real South Indian food dosas and other non vegetarians food the place to be

Ensure you book and go as it’s a small place and also better to go after 100 pm for good service as they open at 1130 and to serve better and timely

Food flavour is yummy and nice portions

The lunch non veg thali is amazing consisting of lamb and chicken curry sambar curd pickle rice and naan the portions are generous with value for money

Food was super tasty and fresh. I really Enjoyed kheema dosa and Goat Biryani. I would encourage you to provide peanut chutney for dosa or Vada instead of coconut chutney it lacks some taste.

Visited Papadums for dinner , ordered kerala Parotta with Chilly chicken n Veg Samosa. Food took longer time to arrive , it would be better if there were more staff as ther was just one poor guy managing the orders, serving and reception duties. Food was super tasty and fresh. Good ambience in small space.

We went to this place with no expectations at all and it surprised us taking us back to our roots. Felt like sitting way down south and enjoying my dosas, idlis and noth indian gravies with perfectly cooked naan. We couldn't resist complimenting the chef and the staff for the amazing food and top class service. Definately recommanded. Value for money as well. I am going back there very soon

Average dining place. Food was a lot spicier than we anticipated. A bit overpriced with their $18 prawn curry with such a small serving size. Customer service was alright but they could probably use another staff to attend the tables as the poor young lady had to attend both the front desk and the tables at the same time.

I had been to this place couple of times must recommend the 70mm dosa, idli and paneer dosa proper, south Indian cuisine experience with all the taste buds. Must visit.

Close to authentic, awesome food. Just had Masala Dosa and would definitely recommend it for sure. Also try Chilli Mushroom WOW!!! As of now these two would recommend others after trying. Happy Fooding 😜

Food was quite good but customer service wasn’t. We ordered a dosa and chicken korma. Highly recommend the chicken korma. Dosa was good but not great. Customer service left a lot to be asked for.

The food is fastastic. We ordered hyderabad briyani which is really nice. Not oily and taste just nice. The resam is the best appertiser which is spicy and sour soup. Chicken tika is delicious and spicy enough! Dosa is really nice with crispy on the outside and pack of flavour inside. Will be back for more!

Sensationally good and without doubt the best Indian food I've had in nz by a good margin. Fresh spices and quality ingredients, lovely. Well done and keep up the good work!

Went for dinner tonight - it was more of dosa time for my family. Absolutely loved paneer dosa and Masala dosa and their sambar and coconut chutney was perfect. Service was so friendly and welcoming. I will definitely return to try their biryani...cheers

Me and my family visited for dinner last nite..we ordered south Indian dosa and biryani it was yummy. Place looks small, service is v good..

Disappointed is the word as I still don’t get why people use South Indian specification if they really don’t know how to make it. Ordered Hyderabadi style biriyani and it tastes dry with some masalas. Being a South Indian foody I must say I should start a restaurant with my food as I understand better than these people. Service is also poor as informed them and was not ready to accept it but offered refund but I denied.

Being a south Indian finding south Indian cuisine in Auckland is just bliss. With all the excitement we ended up over ordering the food, luckily we had enough time to cancel one of the dishes before it was prepared. Thanks to the manager for that.

Ordered the prawn masala dosa, hyderabadi chicken biriyani, chicken lollipop and the best one among all of the dishes; the fish fry!! Not one of the items from the menu that we ordered was disappointing.

The prawn masala dosa had small fine prawn making it easier to the break and eat. The chicken lollipop had the right amount of the masala and the coating making it a delight to much on. The biriyani was a good option but was a bit spicier. Lastly the fish was just AMAZING!!

Really good food at good prices. The spinach chaat is one of my favourites now along with the tandoor chicken. Also do free delivery for local orders over $30!

Went there yesterday for lunch. The service was excellent and the food tasted even better. Would definitely go back as well as order takeaways.
