Review Agenda - Hamilton

Angie Bleasel
Overall great dinner out and would go back again to order what we had and experienced tonight! Service was good, staff were nice, relaxed and not pushy but didn't make us wait at all. Atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. Making talking easy We had their award winning Eye Fillet Steak which as always was delicious, tender and succulent. We also had the fish meal which was delicious and different, the Kingfish seemed to enhance the flavours and the soft crab was something different but tasty. We don't normally go for fish/seafood but it was a good choice. The Lemon Delicious dessert was really good and very lemony! It didn't disappoint like many other lemon desserts (except lemon meringue/curd) tend to do. The Chocolate Peanut Butter Lava Cake was quite a heavy dessert as expected but was cooked just right and was delicious. Tad more peanut butter in it overall would have been good but wasn't unhappy.

We started with the scallops with pork belly. The scallops were well cooked and not rubbery, and the cheese and sauce alongside really complemented the sweetness of the shellfish. The confit duck was tasty and moist, with an excellent accompaniment of kumara and ginger that offered a nice sweetness and spice to compliment the duck. The eye fillet was good, but not amazing. I noted the table next to us had theirs cooked much better, with less of a gradient from sear to inner. It was still an enjoyable steak, with a very well executed potato rosti as a side. The chocolate and peanut lava cake was good. The hint of peanut really made it shine, though it could have done with more nutty flavour inside. The Bombe Alaska was tasty. The salted caramel ice cream inside was very nice. However, the meringue was a bit too thick for our liking, and the taste of alcohol from the flambe was a bit strong. We came for an early dinner, and the ambience was very nice. Over the course of the night, however, the acoustics seemed to amplify and echo the sounds of other tables and made it difficult to hear.

One of the best food you get in Hamilton City. Vegetarian and Gluten free and Dairy free also available. If you like something special...something different then definitely worth a visit. I recommend them. And yes Excellent Service. ✌️

I chose this place because the menu outside of the restaurant listed venison. The entree was mini beef wellingtons. Yum. The venison main was tender and full of flavour. Yummier. The molton peanut butter and whittaker's dark chocolate dessert was great. Yummiest. Great dining experience. Cosy and friendly staff.

Their Lava molten cake is truly awesome! Very quality lava dessert! Loved it!

Beautiful food, and delicious. Definitely going back.

Incredible experience. We stayed one night in Hamilton and found Agenda to have the best menu and ambiance. I ordered the lamb dish and was blown away with the taste and texture of the meat, incredible performance! I live in San Francisco with many fine restaurants but the lamb and service were top notch. Would recommend going out of your way to enjoy a dinner at Agenda. Thanks for a nice evening Zach!

Not blow-your-mind fantastic, but tasty food. Decor and menu a little dated, and wait staff fantastic. We enjoyed our meal but comparing this restaurant to other restaurants around Hamilton, we are unlikely to return.
Rebekah Taylor
Greeted warmly. Amazing service. I ate the duck and it was melt in your mouth delicious. A weird setup for the bathrooms which are shared with other restaurants and it kinda felt like you were sneaking out the back alley. Hubby had the eye fillet which was delicious, but perhaps on the medium side of rare/ medium. All in all a wonderful night out. And I would visit again just on the service.

What a wonderful restaurant. The staff were lovely the service was fantastic and the food .... oh my goodness the food was Devine. Compliments to the chef on 4 perfectly cooked steak meals the entrees were spectacular and the desserts were amazing. We cam all the way from Hawkes Bay and we were not disappointed. Thank you for a wonderful meal we will be back!

Really good quality food all the way through from starters to mains to desserts everything is absolutely delicious. Awesome drinks menu too - craft beer, good wine and cocktails. Would highly recommend if looking for a treat!

A very nice place to visit, exceptional service, and one of the best meals in New Zealand and I travel the Country. The Beef is great the Lamb is fantastic, so don't go through Hamilton without dining here great valve for money.

Went out to dinner with a few friends and enjoyed a three course meal for a very reasonable price. The food was absolutely spectacular and to top if off the wait staff were incredible. Probably one of my favourite resturants to date. Highly recommend.

Food that makes you go mmmm! We dined early so we got 2 for 1 deal. Attentive but unobtrusive wait staff, excellent menu, lamb truly was melt in the mouth, fish superb. Going back again for sure.

With out a doubt the best restaraunt I have been to in Hamilton. Food was fresh and cooked to perfection. Great service and yes they have proper Beer and not just those craft beers.
Jim
Nice local restaurant serves quality food, have been to this place several times, tried the eye fillet, lamb and venison, all good quality meat and cooked to your preference. Dessert had lava cake and brûlée. Overall it has been good dining experience coming here. Price is a bit on the high side, but good value with GrabOne vouchers.
Linda
We went for the second time on Sunday night and both ordered the duck. It was excellent and great value for money being there two for one deal.
FlyingFoodWanderer
Pricey but really delicious food. Although you have too pick meticulously which food you need to get and pay. Portion wise just enough for belly in short not too big not too small just enough. High five to the chef 👨‍🍳 staff does cater graciously.
Mandy C
We always come on a Tuesday when they have their special deal (buy one and get second free/ half price). I love the fish, steak and venison. Protein is always cooked perfectly and staffs are always great!
Janis Davys
We took friends from the south and all enjoyed our meal. Plus the waitress went the extra as I had a fall on the way there and she bought me ice packs and checked regularly plus provided a chair while waiting on kerb to be picked up then onto A&E.. will definitely go again

Came here for dinner not long ago and the food was amazing! The wait staff were very efficient with all tables and answered all our questions. They were very prompt in offering us drinks and taking our orders. Wait time for food was fairly quick too. I haven't given a 5 because the cocktails were a bit average and my steak wasn't cooked properly. But I would definitely give this place another go :)

Came here for dinner on the weekend. Lovely atmosphere and very nice staff. Meals were good, my husband had steak (which was good and I had a bit of meal envy..) and I ordered the pork belly which I didn't love but I've only ever had it once before so maybe I'm just not a big fan in general. But dessert was unreal. We shared the apple crumble brulee, and it was amazing! There were lots of desserts that looked amazing, will definitely come back to give them a try! :)
Hannah
Loved it here! The food was amazing and the service was too. The lady that served us was so lovely and we didn't have to wait long for our food.
Sherriemirez
Food is tasty. Price isnt so much. The serving is quiet small, just enough to fill you up but compared to other place Agenda just has a miniture serving of the other restaurants. The staff are well trained and they know their foods and all, customer service was good :)
Liana Stockwell
I was walking on my way to dine at Lonestar but made a spontaneous choice to dine here instead. In terms of the food I can not really fault anything, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal but the portion sizes were minuscule especially when you put the price into the equation - I left still hungry. Notably the waiter/duty manager (Mathew) had a very pretentious and condescending attitude which didn't give me a good impression of the place and doesn't make me wan't to return anytime soon.

Tuesday nights are always a good idea to go with their 2 for 1 mains deal. The desserts are very good, I remember being very impressed with the Eaton Mess the first time I was there. The staff made a couple of mistakes the last time I was there but they fixed everything right up very quickly.
Joe Suh
Pleasant experience, these guys know very well about their steaks and have the know how to present them to. Their award winning steaks always hits the spot, the interior of the place is a bit meh, just your average layout. Simple

Came here on my birthday and we were welcomed (and seated) right away. Felt a little bit squashed in the corner of the front left corner of the restaurant.
Cocktail was a unexpected surprise, but nice as it wasn't sweet or creamy.
The first course was pates and chutneys with home made breads, good to see that there was attention to detail here.
The cleanser was a tequila lime sorbet with chilli flakes on top, I would've liked at least two spoons.
The third course- I had the chicken. Waitress and kitchen team were accommodating when I requested my cream based sauce to be on the side. Dish came out and they had listened to my needs.
The fourth course I consumed was the chocolate terreine? Each component on the plate worked well. Sorry, I am not a fan of white chocolate so gave that part of the terreine to my better half.

So people if you see a grab one deal that has agenda in the details, do buy it!

Would be good to see a menu change though.

This was a return visit, based on the excellent food and service experienced previously. Unfortunately not so good this time. I had the deconstructed beef wellington and my wife had the chicken breast. I asked for the beef to be prepared medium as I was told by the waitress that the chef errs on the rare side of things. However, the beef came out very very well done and rather rubbery. The potatoes were bland and tasteless. It was certainly not a restaurant quality dish, rather something that could have easily come from kitchen at home. My wife's chicken dish was a little better, although the chicken was quite dry. All in all very disappointing after previously being impressed. The service was good, although I was not asked how the meal was as I would have told them about the beef. I had been singing Agendas praises to everyone after my last visit there, but now the singing has been silenced.

Food was the best thing about this place, but the workers here are not the best, the girl we had was like a robot, no emotion fake smile and pretty useless really, we booked in for 6 people and one person was running late which they seemed not to like and kept asking about them. We ended up saying that they were not coming just so they would stop talking about it. We were happy to order without the other anyway.
The duty manager was also interested in getting involved with what was happening with the other person which got a bit annoying, as it wasn't like we wouldn't order or anything it was a little bizarre why they had to be so interested.
We complained about the service to the guy who was the manager on and he laughed it off.
Strange experience probably rather go anywhere else as the place needs better staff who have some customer service skills. Chef you were great.

We dine out quite a lot in Hamilton and have tried just about every restaurant and without a doubt this is by far the best restaurant in the city with excellent services great food and a great menu to choose from and superb wines and do not forget to try one of there cocktails what more could you ask for.
Bernice Tidswell
I am a regular to Agenda Restaurant, I recommend this restaurant to everyone.......for a special dinner, superb service this is the best place in town.....(or one of them ).....I always get the fillet mignon, if you like steak you will love this, always perfectly cooked. Staff are awesome, trained to a high standard. I am a fussy tart, but I am always happy when I dine here :)

We read in the paper that Agenda had won the NZ beef and lamb awards - we had never even heard of them!

We were pleasantly surprised, our meals were excellent and great vaule for money, the staff were friendly - and actually took the time to have a chat with us too. I had beef cheek - and that was a first for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'll be going back - definitely.

Gone are the days where you can spend a relaxing evening around a dinner table with friends. Four of us dined at Agenda on Saturday evening. Arriving at our booked table at 7pm we were greeted by the waitress and within 10 minutes we were being asked if we were ready to order. That set the precedence for the evening. Entrees were served and as soon as the last person finished, plates were cleared and mains were on the table within 5 minutes. Having been rushed through that also, we asked for some time before we ordered desserts. We were given 5 mins before the waitress was hovering around waiting for us to stop talking to take the order. Desserts showed no resemblance to what was named on the menu. The meal was average at best. In and out of the restaurant in 1.5hrs and $300 lighter. We felt it was one big rush so they could get another cover in before they made it a nightclub. Very disappointed.

We had dinner here on a Saturday night. We hadn't booked, but the friendly staff found us a table straightaway.
The service was top class, not intrusive, but we were asked several times whether we were enjoying our meals.
The whole meal was excellent - we couldn't fault it in any way.
The staff here are obviously well trained and enjoy working at Agenda, reflected in their friendly attitude and helpfulness.
I would recommend Agenda to anyone.

I had been recommended to try Agenda from three different friends, and had been meaning to do this for a while now - only just got around to it last week.
On arriving we were greeted by the wait staff, and allowed to choose our table. We sat right at the front, almost half outside which was nice on a warm night like it was.
The drinks came out really fast, two of our party tried their cocktails which were on special, and were impressed. (I made a mental note to come back one night when we weren't driving!) I just had a beer - can't really get that wrong.

First out were the appetisers, all were nice, but the ones that really stood out were the stuffed mushrooms - my one, that was amazing! and the Venison, which was really different, and came with a chocolate sauce. The idea seems a little strange, but I had a taste, it it was different, but good.

I can't go past a good steak, and this was actually what was recommended to me, so I went for the Filet Mignon. It was cooked just how I like it, medium rare, and was really tasty. All the mains were nice, but I honestly think mine was the best. :) Make sure you try the steak!

I had no room for dessert, but one of my friends tried the Creme Brulee - made from some kind of honey bourban. That was the only dessert we tried, but it was really nice.

I've heard some of my friends say sometimes it's lacking in atmosphere, and I guess I can understand why they say that - there's lots of open space.

Agenda was recommended to me by a friend. I was blown away by the level of service, quality and presentation of food and selection of drinks. I would highly recommend to all and we will be back! Dec 2012

Have been meaning to update this review. I have been to Agenda several times since my initial review and i have not once encountered any bad service or meals, in fact i have had such great experiences i find it hard to go anywhere else (especially on a Tuesday night). This is a true example of a place run by people who want to have everyone leave happy and raving to their friends. Time and time again we get delicious and well presented food - keep up the good work Agenda!

I went for dinner at Agenda the other night for dinner and it was absolutely amazing. The service was excellent and the food was divine. I had the Deep Fried Camembert to start, followed by the Fillet Mignon. The steak was cooked to perfection. Our server was very knowledgeable about the tap and craft beers as well as the wines, and was able to match a fantastic red wine with my meal. I can see why Agenda won best restaurant in the Tempo awards, this was an absolutely fantastic experience and I can not wait to return in the near future, as I was told they have a new menu coming soon. Thank you Agenda for the unforgettable dining experience.

Background information for our Reviews: My husband and I (late 30s with 3 young kids) are fortunate enough to have 2 sets of grandparents in town. We both love eating out, so therefore we try to ditch the kids and get out whenever possible. The reviews we write are our (subjective) opinion based on that day’s experience, so obviously can vary greatly depending on staffing/food etc on the particular day. We love a bargain, so use our entertainment book or deal vouchers where possible :)

We have been here a few times, for good reason. Even on '2 for 1' Tuesday nights, the mains were large and perfectly cooked. Staff were friendly and happy to make small changes to the meals (ie swapping vegetables). Food was perfectly cooked, and flavours were divine. Would totally recommend, and will keep going back!

I absolutely love going to Agenda. The food is delicious, the atmospere is lovely and the waiting staff are wonderful- and they're great with my two little ones. I'll use any excuse to go there :). We've been a number of times but my favourite meal is always the eye fillet (and dessert!).
Patsy Goodwin
Having heard great things about Agenda I booked a table for a Thursday night. My steak was cooked terribly and nobody bothered to ask how our meal was going at any stage of the night. I will not be returning to Agenda
Deborah Jayne Ballantine
Was in Agenda last weekend and had a lovely meal. My boyfriend had an amazing venison dish, while I had a delicious eye fillet. It was really delicious and I'm already wondering when to return!

Went to Agenda for dinner last week and started a menumania account purely so I could tell everyone how fantastic they were!
We hadn't booked and they were rather busy but with little hesitation they rearranged tables to fit us in. The staff were rushed off their feet but always made time to make sure we were well looked after and had everything we needed. Our waitress was really friendly and super helpful with suggestions on meals and drinks.
I had a venison special which was stunning and an ORGANIC wine? Not a big wine drinker but thought I'd try something new and thoroughly enjoyed it. My partner had steak with seafood and that was also cooked really well.
The background music is really well suited to the environment and the fires make the large area really cozy.
You'd never know that this place doubled as a nightclub. Highly recommended!

I tried to dine at Agenda last Saturday night and couldn't get a table. This evening I booked. I can see why they are busy! Food was 10/10. Our waitress recommended the Confit Duck. I was extremely happy I took her advice. It just melted in your mouth. My partner had the fish of the day, which was snapper on lemon scented risotto. The fish was cooked perfectly and was clearly fresh. I was baffled to see a poor review based on the risotto as it was fantastic! The staff here were great. They were knowledgeable and friendly. They suggested perfect wine matches to complement the meal. My partner tried the cocktail of the month which was a "berry nice Bellini". I wasn't a fan be she loved it. We finished our evening with the chef's homemade white and milk chocolate cheese cake! I cant think of words to explain it. Go here and try it for yourself! Thank you Agenda. We will be back.

Agenda provides top quality service, great food and a positive dining experience. I had the eye fillet dish, and thought it was amazing; best steak I have had in Hamilton. They have a large range of top quality whiskeys that made my experience so much better. I can not wait to return and try other meals on their menu. Thank you to the Agenda team, I have never been so happy to leave a tip! :)
Chris Ward
We have given Agenda several opportunities to prove themselves, and they continue to disappoint. They started out okay with their food, but our last 3 visits have been extremely disappointing.

We ordered the fish, hapuka, on a bed of risotto. The fish was okay, but the risotto was just plain bland! We are not chefs, and yet we could have cooked a way tastier fish dish! It had absolutely NO taste to it whatsoever! When we told our waitress, she told us that she would inform the chef. And that was it. When we informed the duty manager, she couldn't care less.

This is the 3rd bad food experience at Agenda. We will never be back!!!
Kylie
Well I had recently been quite a regular at this restaurant and recommended it to my workmates for a birthday dinner out. We had booked a table for six on a Tuesday night when the have the 2 for 1 main meal deal on the day we rung up and asked if we could add another two people to our table only to be told that they were fully booked, fair enough but when we sat down at our table we had noticed that a table just down for us had been allowed to add extra people to their table with no fuss so we thought that was unfair that we couldn't. When we were all seated the waitress come over and asked everyone at the table for ID we were having dinner not coming to get drunk, our manager who was at the table had lost her wallet and we were told that they would not let us dine as she didn't have ID and who wasn't drinking in the first place so we said fine we will leave to which the waitress added good luck finding a place to eat with no ID which was really sarcastic very unpleasant experience and I am no longer a regular at the establishment
Lola
I'm afraid I still have nightmares about this place.
My meal was hugely dissapointing and sadly memorable.
Overcooked fish was a poor start but the desert (cheesecake) finished it off, I'm sure it came straight off an aeroplane. I very much doubt it was made in house due to the gelatanous, un flavoured, rubbery texture that is so common in long life airline food. If you need to buy in cheesecake why not pop down the road to the shop dedicated to it and give your customers a treat.

Thank god the wine was good and that there was plenty of it.
Chris Beale
Agenda is apparently a nightclub and a restaurant. I guess the nightclubbing occurs later in the night. We got there for dinner only at 7 pm, and only diners present.

Atmosphere in restaurants is important, and I'm afraid that Agendas nightclub half makes it lack in this department. A bit sparse and I could smell the cleaning agents!

Service was very good. Food also was good. My steak was basic in its presentation, but for one or two chewy bits that ended up on the plate, was welll cooked and presented. The wife's pork belly was really just pork, but she rated it highly. Overall the meals were OK, probably scoring around 8/10 (average of the two).

OMG was what i was saying during and after eating at the Agenda!
My partner and myself when there unplanned for pre new years dinner. thanks that the place we were ment to go was fully booked up.
i had the special of steak on a bed of kumara mash and beans all cooked to perfection! my partner had the salmon which was perfect after we seasoned it.
but the desert i had was to die for totally orgasmic omg, my partner was laughing at me because of the facial expressions i was making while eating this desert. i highly recommend the Bailey Brulee it is delicious!!!! you wont be disappointed.
We will be back with friends.
Christine Wright
A friend (who was over from Oz) and I dined at Agenda on Thursday 29 December - early part of the evening. Wow all I can say is we both had the most delicious meals we have had for ages. Absolute compliments to the chef - she had the spicy lamb and I had the special of filet mignon. She absolutely raved about the flavour and the way it was cooked (she had asked for the lamb to be cooked more to well done which they did to perfection) and she said the meal was much better than anything she had had in restaurants in Sydney. My steak was medium rare as ordered and melted in my mouth - perfect. The waiting staff were also extremely helpful and friendly. Excellent evening. Many thanks - I'll be back and so will friends and family I have told. Christine

Service - depends on who you get, our food staff were great and very very helpful, the drink staff.. Boy do they need some training and the main reason for only three stars.
Food - Had the pasta and it was very bland but when this was raised with the staff it was reified quickly and to our satisfaction
Restaurant - Early in the evening is is quite nice but as it get later they are trying to get you out the door so they can make this a nightclub so would suggest a early dinner here..
Rosie
We came here about 10 months ago and found that it was very poor. We decided to give it another go though tonight. Again was really bad. I ordered baked salmon - has anyone ever seen this served inside tin-foil and wrapped in baking paper??? - the whole thing was bad. Served with risotto - again bad - topped with salsa whose flavour focussed on tomato paste. My partner ordered steak - ordinary with dried up roast potato things. Service was fine. The place was virtually empty - not surprising - am just amazed that it is still around.

Went to Agenda recently on a voucher deal. I was not all that happy to be told when we paid for our meals that a salad was counted as a main and the cheapest meals would be accounted for as being already paid. This isn't written anywhere on the voucher, so was not happy that they make up their own 'rules', as mains and salads have separate sections on the Menu. Their staff were nice and friendly though, which made up for it.

Took Brisbane family to the restaurant after the Sunday World Cup game. The restaurant was busy and pleased we booked.

I have been to the restaurant a few times as well as others in town for lunches but not dinners as we are from a distance from Hamilton.

A nice environment, good food and back ground music, what more can you ask for?

Agenda always has friendly service and most important, great fresh tasty meals and a good variety of choices. This night some of us had 3 courses as the deserts sounded too nice to not have. We were not disappointed.

Even with being a busy night (and staff would have had an extremely busy weekend!) the service was good and even better the food was wonderful. Our Brisbane family commented on how much they enjoyed the food and atmosphere.

Two of us went to this restaurant last week. Have never been there before. The surroundings are pleasant and modern. We were warmly welcomed and seated promptly. It was a Wednesday night but there was a reasonable number of people there - almost full so might pay to book.

We read through the menu and were impressed with what we saw. We ordered the Antipasto Platter to share as an entree and our mains were the baked salmon and the scallops.

The platter was a great starter for the two of us. A generous portion. My companion only wanted water which was promptly supplied as was my generous (530 ml) beer.

The mains arrived without delay. They were fantastic. The salmon was beautifully moist with wonderful flavour and it was a good sized portion - I got to finish the bit that my companion could not manage.

As for my scallops, six extremely large scallops came perched on top of six juicy pieces of pork belly. A great combination, especially with the vegetable julienne salad with vinaigrette dressing.

By the time we had finished, we decided to skip dessert. We did see a couple nearby demolishing theirs and they looked great as well (the desserts I am referring to).

Extremely good value for money. Especially between 5-7pm when you can get a 530 ml glass of beer for $5.

All the staff were very pleasant and great at their jobs.

I have given it 4 stars - only because one likes to reserve 5 stars for something that one will probably never encounter.

Agenda - you have two fans and we will be back for sure. I can recommend this establishment with complete confidence.

Si.

Went recently for Sunday brunch ....food and service were top notch. And the coffees were complimentary! Would definitely visit again

Recently went to Agenda the night of the rugby 7's. Excellent staff here. Friendly welcoming and prompt.

We ordered the scollops and very really dissapointed. They were dry and a little tasteless. We also got the seafood kebab's, and once again dissapointed. They came out cold. Took a bite into the scollop and it was dry! Asked for it to be replaced, only to find 2 Kebabs come back, and just re-heated. By this stage there was no point in asking again.

The fish and chip basket was so cute! It actally came in a Vat basket! Fish was delicious.

Garlic Ciabatta was delicious! Nice and hot, just the right amount of butter and garlic.

Overall , it was good. But really dissapointed in the scollops :(:( and i Love scollops, well any sea food really! ( as you can tell from what we ordered!)

Chose this restaurant last week for a meal out purely because it was one of the few we hadn't tried in Hamilton. Food was very tasty and the children enjoyed their meals. Service was very prompt and cheerful.

Recently had dinner on a Saturday evening. My husband had a delicious lamb shank that was melt in the mouth tender and I enjoyed a wonderful pork sirloin with the most divine crackling. Service was great and just the right amount on the plate to finish but not left feeling hungry. In fact we liked it so much we were back the next day with other family for a great brunch.
Glenieve Davies
It was really hard to choose from the brunch menu; so many things sounded delicious, but I had the French toast with bacon, banana and maple syrup. It was really good. I was with a large-ish group and everyone was very happy with their meals. Reasonable price and service was excellent without being at all obtrusive. Coffee was great too. I'll certainly go again.
Leif
Recently my girl friend and I had dinner at Agenda and had a great night. We ordered the chicken and lamb mains and these were both delicious. We also ordered desert and were not disappointed. This place also has macs great white on tap which is one of my favs. Great service relaxed atmosphere and amazing food. Try this place for sure.

I recently dined at Agenda and happily report a really lovely night out.

I selected the vegetarian lasagne which was accompanied by grilled garlic bread and dukka with olive oil & balsamic (fantastic!). The lasagne was very delicious. Light and fresh pasta sheets, layered between capsicums and eggplant. The napolenti sauce, likewise, was very tasty. The twist was feta cheese - not a hint of the usual gluppy cheese sauce (yah!). It was real fusion of flavours that really worked well!

The staff were nicely attentive but certainly not overbearing. A good selection of wine, beer and spirits were available.

The decor was simple and pleasant. This is a venue I will return to, and bring my family along as the menu caters well for younger diners too.

After enjoying brunch at Agenda on a number of occasions, I recently had dinner there and found it a pleasurable experience. The staff are friendly and easy going, and make you feel well looked after. They took our orders promptly, and cleared our plates quickly after we had finished eating.

The meal I had was presented on plate on a level comparable to far more upmarket and expensive Hamilton eateries, such as Palate. However, the portions at Agenda were far more generous than what I have come to expect from restaurants in Hamilton, and the meal I had was excellent value for money at $25 for a deliciously seasoned steak, vegetables and potatoes. I have been to other local restaurants which have disappointingly charged almost twice as much for similar quality steak by itself (sides must also be ordered at such places). There was plenty of variety on the menu, and I look forward to going back and trying other dishes.

The restaurant is set in tones of black and grey with red highlights, a slick modern look that is nicely complemented with cushy seats and a warm fireplace. Although the restaurant appears quite dark from the outside, it is surprisingly bright inside and the lighting has a somewhat romantic feel to it. I have found the noise levels at busy restaurants often makes it difficult to have a conversation because you end up almost shouting across the table, however, this was not a problem at Agenda. Despite the restaurant being full and music playing in the background, I did not have to raise my voice at all.

I had fantastic experience, and would thoroughly recommend Agenda to others.
Glenn Colclough
Recently had a meal at agenda, and after fantastic service, a great atmosphere and equally great meal i was compelled to write a review.

I rearly have a salad when eating out however had the lamb salad at agenda and it was great. consisting of marinated lamb spinach & my person frave dried tomato & olive it was the best salad dish ive had all year. Agenda's staff were friendly and prompt and the meal was ready in good time. Considering how busy they were at the time (almost full) i was stoked. Well done Agenda team look forward to the next meal.

I have been waiting to find a great lamb meal in Hamilton and I found it at Agenda. The lamb was succulent, boneless (!), well flavoured and cooked perfectly. I was surprised by the presentation; crispy rocket and baby carrots but they were very flavourful.
My husband had the tenderised sirloin and he enjoyed it.

Entree's were ok, dessert was fine, friendly service. Pricing was in line with other restaurants in the CBD.
There was a live musician playing - must have been a Pearl Jam fan - but it was good background.

The only thing that let them down was the tables and seating; it looked temporary (I think they move it to make way for the dancefloor) and seemed cheap.

But otherwise great. Would definitely visit again.

Agenda has become a favourite of mine in Hamilton. It's hard for a place to consistently impress with both the service and the food, but Agenda continues to do just this. We are always greeted at the door by the friendly staff, and shown to our table.
I've tried a few of the starters, but my favourite would have to be scallops and pork belly. This is served with the scallops sitting on top of little pieces of pork belly - absolutely delicious! My partner often chooses the salt and pepper squid - which I really enjoy as well.
I love the Fillet Mignon - always cooked just right, although I think this might have been taken off the menu recently. (It's great to see a restaurant making changes to their menu, often to suit the season). They do an awesome duck meal as well - this is a huge favourite of my partner's.
I'd definitely recommend saving room for dessert, there's so many tasty looking options, but I find it so hard to go past the Chocolate Custard Pie - mouth-wateringly good!
They have a two for one special every Tuesday, which we take advantage of, but you'll need to book - we learnt our lesson on this one!
Overall a great place, with fantastic customer service - I'd definitely recommend trying it.
