Review Furnace Steakhouse - Hamilton

We attended Andrew Clarke’s Butchers Block Degustation Dinner. Everything from the service, food to the matching wines was exceptional. The flavour combinations on each dish and the quality of ingredients were incredible! Such a fabulous evening and looking forward to the next event!

We came last night and I was so amazed at the service we got from the moment we arrived to the time we left, I forgot the name of our server but she was just awesome, the food was outstanding, I got the beef cheeks and the meat was so soft, the sauce was beautiful and everyone else also enjoyed their meals. Atmosphere was great, restaurant was nice and clean. I would definitely come back. Thank you for an awesome time

Had an amazing night! My steak was perfect and the blue cheese sauce was epic, duck fat chips and a side plate of steamed vege. Next move was dessert, cointreau and chocolate Mousse which was so light and delicious, almost had to restrain myself from licking the plate it did cross my mind. Priscilla was our wonderful waitress! Great service, awesome food, I would highly recommend.

Booked a table for me and my partner for a spontaneous dinner, never been to this restaurant before but we were very pleased! Amazing service, delish well thought-out food. Good cocktail selection and honestly the best dessert menu in hamilton! See for your self in the pictures i have provided. The desserts are huge! Everything well worth the price. Not a single fault! 10/10 👏🏻👏🏻

Amazing food and service. We ordered a beef tartare for entree, two steaks made in the sous vide for main and one tart with ice cream for dessert. Everything was so amazing. The steaks were both really really nice however the wagyu steak was our favourite.

The slow roast lamb was absolutely stunning. Super tender and just melts in your mouth. The market fish and steak was also good. Friendly service !

This restaurant was recommended to me by Graham of the Argent motel. I must say that it was a great choice. If you like a good steak and a good glass of wine to accompany the meal, then look no further. A short 3km drive ( thank you, Graham) from the hotel, and you are there. Post meal, the restaurant ordered a taxi to return me to my hotel. Thumbs up, guys.

Great place to eat! Staff were very very helpful with my annoying dietary needs. Ringing ahead to advise them was the play. They were very aware and offer solutions. Meal came out perfect and I ate every last scrap. Thanks guys for making life easy. All our other meals were also great. See you next time.

Wonderful steak! The best that I had! Highly recommend this Signature Steak Rib-eye 500GM. The Steak is very tender and of great taste! Duck fat chips are delicious as well! Green Peppercorn and Homemade BBQ sauce go well with the steak. Southern Fried Chicken is crispy and juicy. Central Otago Tart is apple, peach, apricot pie with caramel ice cream, which is not too sweet good sharing with friends. Will definitely come back for the steak and try other food!

Great time for Mother's Day lunch. Enjoyed the charcuterie platter and the mains were substantial. Great staff with a friendly atmosphere.

I went here for an early-Christmas dinner with my dad. We had booked a table and we were given one of the best tables in the restaurant. We shared a pizza as an entree. It was the Brimstone pizza which is full of meat. The chorizo sausage was especially nice. My main meal was the "line caught market fish". I chose this meal because smoked chorizo sounded like a nice point of difference, and I was very pleased with my choice because this meal was very good. The fish was good, but maybe just slightly too dry. The chorizo and the 'crushed new potatoes' were excellent. The fennel, coriander, red onion salad was good too. The lime & mustard aioli was very tasty. For dessert I had the banoffee pie and again I was very pleased with my choice. It was very nice. All 3 courses were very well presented and the service was good. This is a very nice place to go for a meal.

The best spaghetti and meatballs I’ve had in the longest time. Completely cooked al’ denté, flavoursome, and fast to get to the table. I am looking forward to coming back again - it’s a nice atmosphere and the waiters were very professional.

Great food Great place 👍
I ordered a steak and it was amazing .
The staff are awesome and we get a great service and good vibe overt there.. !
Will go again!

Loved eating here for lunch! Will definitely come again with it’s welcoming customer service! Favourite off the menu would be the Pork Belly.

Finally visited Furnace after repeatedly hearing great things. Unfortunately, I was anything but impressed.

We ordered the Texan pizza, bacon and mushroom carbonara, fries and garlic bread. The only thing I enjoyed about the whole experience was the pasta but it was still far too salty for my personal preference. Our pizza tasted like it had some dodgy chicken on it and left us feeling a bit uneasy afterwards. The chips were nice but I was surprised with the portion considering the price.

Overall, if I find myself hungry in Hamilton again I'd try something else.

Have been here twice in the last month and both times my partner and I were very happy! The pizza bread is a lovely entree option to share, and they seem to change the spreads each time which is nice! The mains are a very decent size, with lots of flavour and beautifully presented. Good amount of wine options and the service was good both times too!
Ashley Daniel
Very good service, staff friendly and attentive, good food too. The place had a nice atmosphere. A good place for a date night early in the evening.

Had the opportunity to take my parent's out for lunch so headed to Furnace. I enjoyed the layout with different seating options but fairly intimate with a more evening atmosphere. I ordered the Warm smoked salmon salad. Which arrived in good time and was much larger than expected. Very well seasoned with a ample supply of salmon.
I couldn't finish the meal however others at the table had no problem finishing thiers. Overall we all enjoyed our meals.
The service was professional and what you'd expect. However overall I'd recommend Furnace more for a romantic evening than lunch with your parents.

Had Christmas dinner here.Food is okay. Service is okay. Not very much impressed as the waitress need to be reminded that i ordered a drink.

Had an awesome night here with the work mates. Everyone had fabulous meals. Staff was very attentive. Would go again recommend the squid. Very good

We try the $12 menu and ordered fish and chip and seafood chowder and it taste amazing! The place is always full during lunch time but the staff never failed to give an exceptional services and the food are serve quick and efficient! Highly recommended!

Atmosphere: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had lunch here a few weeks back. Service was excellent, our server was polite and engaging and the food was delicious. Will definitely be back.

Fairly good food, but a bit salty, but good atmosphere. Been there about a dozen times for family birthdays. Really affordable and vegetarian options.

Favourite place to get $12 lunch! Located central with two parking buildings nearby. I always get the open sandwiches, pizzas or the chicken wrap. Great food, service and price!

Great food and excellent customer service! Family friendly restaurant and the added bonus of being able to park at the Knox street parking for free is awesome, the food is delish and you get what you pay for :)

Stopped in for some dessert very tasty, good ambience and nice and warm lovely on a winter night. Coffee is good friendly staff. Used the toilets and they were quite clean which is a good sign.
AJ
Beautiful food! We had the beef cheeks, pork trio, aglio olio spaghetti, seasonal steamed greens, and chocolate brownie to finish off. Beef cheeks were so tender and flavourful, accompanied with airy, creamy mash. Pork trio was also delicious and offered roasted veggies and mash. Steamed veggies were just broccoli and a few leaves of brussel sprouts, cooked well with hints of garlic. The aglio olio was a bit more like pesto for me, but still wonderful. Fudge brownie was so warm and gooey, and loved the touch of having mint ice cream on top. If you're thinking of giving this place a try, go for it. Atmosphere, enhanced by the decor, was really cozy. Service was friendly.

Very friendly staff gave us a very warm welcome on a very cold winter night. The atmosphere at Furnace is very cosy and inviting. I enjoyed a beautifully cooked Italian spaghetti and meatball dish, the sauce was delicious. We shared a very yummy deconstructed lemon meringue, I recommend this tasty desert. I thought $99.00 was very reasonable for drinks, dinner, desert and great coffee for two. Try Furnace next time you're looking for somewhere nice to dine.
Michele
We had an amazing dinner here tonight with great service to match the food. Dining area was lovely and warm and it was a pleasure to come into from the cold outside. Pan fried fish melted in the mouth and meatballs were delicious . Dessert just topped the meal off and coffee was hot and strong.

Irene Ebasco EdicHere on a Friday night.
Service: 👍🏻lovely, very friendly and awesome attendants.

Food: great, we had calamari, pasta, pizza and desserts. Everything tasted really good.

A must go place for dining in Hamilton.
Emma Rozema
Had dinner and dessert here tonight. I had the stuffed chicken breast which was pretty good although the side was the real MVP of the dish - roasted cauliflower and potatoes in a red pepper mayo which was amazing! The chicken was a tad dry and I felt like there could have been more of the mozarella and prosciutto filling. Creme brule for dessert which was nicely paired with doris plum ice cream. In the past I've had slightly warmed creme brule which i enjoyed more than this which was cold. The atmosphere was nice and the staff were good too.
Elonie
Very nice atmosphere and friendly waitress. The food is presented well and tasty. The bacon & eggs came with very nice five grain bread. Tha aglio olio is well balanced with the right amount of chilli.
Wainui
Absolutely love the eggs benedict here. Especially when it is $12 that is such a good price for a good eggs benny. Sick of paying $18 for an average or bad one at other places.
Foodie Chronicles
Furnace is one of the great places in Hamilton to get $12 lunches. Portions are really big and the food is always really good. Definitely a go-to spot! Would recommend!!
Tracey-Lee Perry
A disappointing result. Service was very poor and food only average. Booked a table for 7pm didn't get out of there until 10. Staff really lacked giving us any attention at all. Won't be going back

It was a very warm summers day and I needed a quick lunch. So went to Furnace. It was not overly crowded. I was dissappointed with the service. I sat for 20minutes and no contact with the waiters. They walked passed a few times so knew I was there. I gave up and left.

Came here with a grabone voucher for a birthday.

First impression was that the place was clean and quiet.

The server was somewhat accomodating, but seemed preoccupied.

I ordered the seafood pasta, and we also ordered a pizza to share.

The pasta was average and the pizza tasted very bland. I would recommend people NOT to order their pizza, I felt like I could make it myself. Very disappointing as you would expect for restaurant pizza to be of some high standard.

We misread the voucher and thought we could spend up to a certain amount of money at Furnace, however it turned out to be restricted to two main meals. Clearly we were at fault, however I do think that the staff could have been more accommodating and understanding that we had made an error ourselves instead of being rude and being so defensive.

Overall I will not be returning as the food was average, the prices are not cheap and the service was average also. I am sure there are MUCH better places to dine than here.
Kelly Nicol
We made a reservation for birthday dinner for a group of 5 .. when we arrived table was only for 4 .. Our waiter was very slow and not overly friendly or accommodating. He took our order for drinks and after 20min of waiting the duty manager( who was the best part of our experience as her standard of service was excellent! )stepped in and brought our drinks to us.. the quantity was outrageously small and am a small portion eater. We had larger portion eaters at the table, who had starters entrée and mains. one of our group who only ordered one meal didn't receive his until after our entrée and mains were finished ! We all left still hungry unfortunately we won't go near the place again

Great beer, great service, lunch and dinner menus are excellent. Warm, friendly atmosphere, reasonable prices and portion sizes. You cannot fault these guys. While they are not spectacular they do nothing wrong. My wife and I dine here regularly as do I and my colleagues
Liana Stockwell
Great atmosphere! Really enjoyed the outdoor setting area :) we ordered the Parmesan pizza bread which was amazing! Also a pizza and an open sandwich off the lunch menu. Pizza was great, sandwich not so much. Possibly a trial and error kind of menu?
Katherine Holder
Had to wait to be seated, but luckily the fire was going, so hung around that until the waitress came and showed us to the table.
Ordered the Parmesan pizza bread with dips as a started- the dips were really 2 flavoured butters and a hummus which were nice.
Had the chicken wrap with chips, came with no tomato in the wrap as I said to the waitress-clearly she had listened to me and so had the chefs. The other person had the pork belly with crunchy peas and kumara puree.
Then I had a Lemon Meringue for dessert-a deconstructed version of a Lemon Meringue pie which had Italian meringue, shortbread, mini meringues and lemon curd. Had the flavours of this old classic, but presentation was a bit average. The other person clearly enjoyed their bannofee pie, not too sweet which is a bonus.

Oh the glass of wine I had, that was pretty good.

Would I come back? Probably

But please move your customers on as soon as they have paid, if you want to extend conversation with them- do it when other people are not waiting to pay.

Dear kitchen team- we could hear your head chef yelling every order, I don't think customers want their orders heard by others in the restaurant. So maybe have a screen in the kitchen that displays orders and save the yelling for the music festival.

Went here with my family for the $12 lunch and ordered the caesar salad, I found not 1 but two hairs and the second was wrapped around my poached egg. After my fiancé took it back, he got told that No1 working that had blonde hair. Trust me when I say I was hungry and wanted to eat my food. After a little but of a discussion they finally replaced my salad. Unfortunately because of the fact we felt accused we will not be returning.

Was disappointed on my last visit there, given that the previous was quite good (except for the food left on the floor under the table from the previous customer).

The waitress staff have been a pleasure and nice, even though my friend did get offended when he was asked to remove his hat.

Based on the previous visit, the Pork & Salmon mains are divine. Both 5/5.

Was disappointed with the Eye Fillet main on the last visit! Although, everything in the meal was cooked to perfection i.e. steak and poached egg. It tasted like a breakfast meal. The combination of the flavours just did not work for me as a dinner dish so it gets a rating of 3/5.

My friend rated the Duck main a 3/5, also.

On the previous visit our desserts were cooked to perfection but on the last visit the Central Otago Tart was served to us all broken and slightly mushy. I was not impressed - so based on the last visit and due to inconsistency Furnace gets a 3/5.

However, I would still go back there, since I know they have some delicious 5/5 meals!

I'll begin with the positives first. The décor and styling of the restaurant is cosy and inviting and our waitress, whose name I've forgotten, was really friendly and attentive, without being annoying or overbearing during our meal. A few things need to be worked on, however.

1. If you are charging an extra $3 to add chicken to the Caesar salad, at least serve it as a sliced breast or cook it in a way that doesn't dry it out.

2. The chicken dish was great and the flavours were all there, however, my partner found the meal far too heavy, as it didn't incorporate any vegetables to lighten the meal. So, maybe the chef could look at halving the amount of risotto and adding some sort of greens or equivalent.

3. The most disturbing part of our dining experience was what appeared to be the manager evaluating/ critiquing the wait staff in full view of the customers. He was standing out in the dining area with a clipboard and pulling his staff over numerous times in a rather bossy manner. It made us feel uncomfortable and ruined the ambiance of the restaurant. It was obvious the staff weren't relaxed and it felt as though the man with the clipboard had his eyes on everyone in the dining room. It is understandable for establishments to evaluate their staff performance, however, the way in which it was carried out that night was very unprofessional.

I've been to Furnace Restaurant a few times and each time was really a let down. Last time I went I ordered a pasta dish that had an olive oil base sauce. I totally understood when ordering that it was pasta tossed in garlic and olive oil, but what I received was shocking. Instead of the promised 'pasta lightly tossed in olive oil' I received a bowl of what looked like 'olive oil soup, feat. pasta and raw garlic.' I attempted to eat it but it was so heavy on the oil I could feel my face starting to breaking out. When I asked the waitress about the dish, if there was a bit too much oil on my plate, she rudely stated "well it's olive oil based" to which I replied 'I understand that but there is three or four tablespoons of oil in this bowl.' (and I actually took my tablespoon and spooned the oil out of the bowl and into my empty water glass)

It was really disappointing because, as it always turns out, when one has an awful meal the people you dine with have a fantastic meal. Maybe one day I'll give them another chance.. but sadly not any time soon.

I am rating poorly because of lunch time service. We arrived on a weekday for lunch, they were advertising lunch $12 specials, then after a 40 minute wait, when I enquire dhow much longer we had to wait, we were told "well it does take 25 to 30 minutes to prepare your meals after you order". Seriously? I ordered pate and toast. My husband ordered mac n cheese. If it takes you half an hour for these items you have serious performance issues in your kitchen! Plus, during the workday lunch hour you really need to let diners know that these are your standard wait times. Not good. Not good at all, but food was okay. Will not return nor recommend. I took a photo of the mess of uncleared dirty cups, glasses and bottles strewn over the bar when I went up to pay it was that dirty! Ew.
Bari
I certainly can't vouch for the negative reviews, but as for me, Furnace is consistent, trustworthy, and overall a great place for a casual/semiformal dining. It's me and my fiancé's favourite lunch spot, and come in for their pizza at least once a month. No crazy culinary experiments or unusual flavours to be found here, but nothing is ever a miss or a disappointment. The service can be a bit of a hit-and-miss, but most of the staff are accommodating and friendly.

Four of us went out for a birthday lunch at Furnace yesterday. It is always great when you are welcomed with a smile. Service was flawless (from all the staff we came across) and the food was fast and fantastic. Huge portions which are great value for money. Very happy with our visit and will be returning.

Distinctly underwhelming. Three of us went for dinner there where two of us ordered steaks, the other a vegetarian dish. Our meals took ages to arrive despite it being quiet, and the steaks were way overcooked; one was meant to be medium rare, the other blue rare. We got a medium and a medium well-done. The waitress never asked us if our meals were ok. The food was overpriced. On the plus side, the deserts were excellent, which saves the review from being a 1 star.
Ni Luong
Three of us had dessert here, was very full house when we arrived but they found us a suitable table promptly. The Tiramisu was to a high standard and very delicious, Banoffee pie was not too sweet but extremely satisfying, choclolat fondant was a favourite for my Hubby on first mouthful .Each dish was beautiful.
Nicola
Went out for a birthday dinner here this week on a deal voucher. Showed our voucher (reluctantly) on arrival, but surprisingly our meals didn't reflect the discounted price we paid. All were beautifully cooked and the staff were very helpful.
Nxsta
Have dined here for lunch and dinner, visiting about 6 times in the past two years. Have never had a reason to complain about food or service, but sometimes wait times can be a little long.
Would definitely recommend

I love furnaces food, atmosphere and staff (always pleasant!) we went on a rugby night which was nothing short of manic but we still had a fab time and we managed to get a seat close to the tv! Only downside was my mum and I both ordering the lamb salad (lamb feta and potatoes with salad greens) and I had 5 small potatoes where my mum had none- probably just a lapse in concentration from the kitchen and it definitely didn't ruin our night, the food is always fantastic.
Kylie
My partner and I went there last week, it was the nicest meal we have had for some time for the price.

We both Oysters - the flavours were lovely but for $18.00 for 6 THEY WERE TINY! But still we enjoyed the refreshing appetizer.

I had the salmon and Mr had the Steak. Both fresh well cooked meals and nicely proportioned so to be able to go out and have a few drinks afterwards. They were not overly large meals.

We both had desserts also, Chocolate...? and Brulee. Lovely!

With a bottle of wine total bill $185.00.
Danica De Lisle
Me and my friends and family go here often for the $12 lunches and love it every time. The staff are usually very good, one time telling us due to a very large party inside there may be an extra wait on our food (which there wasn't). The only time we have been let down was when they forgot to give us our menus, although when a waitress served us bottled water 10mins later and noticed we were without, apologised profusely and got them for us promptly. Everything I have tried from the menu has been amazing! The only thing I would change is crispy noodles in the Thai beef salad instead of soft ones - but now I'm just getting picky. See you next week.
Rebecca
Nice atmosphere, though, terrible wait staff - we felt like they were rushing us out the door, tasteless, underseasoned food. Would not eat here again.
Tina Willis
My sister and I regularly go here for the $12 lunches. Our waitress is always nice and friendly. Although we have to wait a while for our lunch, it was awesome and worth the wait. Garlic bread was the winner while waiting for main... See you next week....

So I've been to Furnace twice now for dinner, and I have to say that has been a great experience both times. We have been seated promptly, had our orders taken and drinks provided quickly by lovely friendly staff. On our most recent visit we order the calamari and the scallops for our entrees and then both had the eye fillet for our mains. OMG, it was the best for all our dishes. We eat out a lot and I'm not usually impressed but this time I was as no element let the food or service down. We also had the choc mousse and creme brulee for pud - yummo. I also liked the wallpaper in the ladies restroom!
Jackie Newman
Enjoyed a late lunch with a friend here on a monday afternoon. Even though the $12 lunches had finished, the waitress allowed us to order off the snack menu for the same price. The food was amazing! Pizza cooked perfectly with good flavours. Nice balance of salad/fries/pizza. Had the tiramisu for dessert, also delicious. Very friendly service and only a short wait for our food. The only thing I could fault were chips in the bases of the glassware and crockery. Will definitely return with more friends
Chris Hattan
We went there today for lunch.
Around 15 work colleagues.
I had read previous revues from this site and I was a bit worried.
My initial worry was the service and slowness.
But today there was no worries here at all.
The food arrived within a reasonable time frame-45 mins and it looked very presentable and whats better was excellent to eat.
I dont think there were any complaints apart from someone who had the pork blly who found it too rich for them
The portions looked quite generous too.
We will be back
Lisa Liu
I went to Furnace for their $12 lunch... Absolutely amazing. The food portion was decent and the quality was amazing! Though their pizza was a bit small (compared to Dominoes, but decent compared to the other restaurants nearby). I loved their chowder - creamy and full of the flavour of what a chowder is supposed to have.
Love Food
Fav place in Hamilton. Love coming and taking people to this place. Love it love love it. Cant fault it. Love the $12 lunches to. Would have ben nice to have a highchair available tho. Wouldn't normally take kids out to dining but met a friend there for lunch and it was hopeless without a highchair. You can get some nice snazzy ones that would blend in with the decor from mocka.co.nz
Miriam Penniall
Went in on Good Friday and this was the only restaurant that was busy. Service was awesome, very quick and the waitresses were very friendly. Food was quick to come out and was delicious. This is not the first time I have been impressed with Furnace and have never been let down with their great service and marvelous food.
Will definitely be back again :)
Wanida Van Houtte
I've been to Furnace quite a few times. The first time was the best and it went downhill since then. The average time waited for meal was about an hour regardless how busy they were. It's normally really loud and overcrowded. Last time I went for dinner was on 22/02/11. Pizza was ok and I felt like it's different from the past. (Pizzas here used to be really awesome.) Smoked salmon salad was a joke and overpriced. The portion size was small with mostly green leafy veggie and a wee bit of pieces. Any non-chef can do better than that...very disappointed and wasted of money. The staff was nice though. Other food in general was average. Will I go back again??....maybe.
Melanie Brown
We watched two other parties walk out after waiting an hour for their food. Weirdly, wait staff were taking arm loads of dishes down to Easy Tiger also owned by the same owner. We lost count at 15 dishes. So they lose customers while they feed others at another restaurant down the street?

We put in our food and drink order and half an hour later when we could get the attention of wait staff, asked where the drink was. It arrived, in time, but our food didn't. After watching the other customers walk out, we asked when our food might arrive. The estimated 15 minutes (+30mins already passed) came and went. An hour after we ordered, it still hadn't arrived. We went to pay for the drink and leave, but were promised lunch would arrive soon. I don't know how much later we got our meals. They were not worth waiting for. Mostly bread and a tiny serving at that.

We will not be back...ever. Thank you for not charging for the meal, but with service like that, poor meals and the frustration of watching food walk down the street instead of feeding the groups who walked out on you in frustration, was too much.
Amy Phillips
Came in 3rd of febuary and was blown away. We had a table of 4, entrees were quick and tasty, mains were nice but WOW the deserts blew me away. We had the warm fruit tart and the fondant. they was so good we wanted to order 2 more. THANK YOU FURNACE DESERTS
Bella
I have been to this Furnace Restaurant for the first time on the 16th of Jan 2011. Their service was not the greatest.
The food was ok, I felt been overcharged. The restaurant environment was pretty but very hot during summer time, it was not air conditioned.
I don't think I will ever recommend this restaurant to anyone and will not go there ever again.
Carlos Diaz
Been to furnace last Sunday 16 January 2011 and was really bad service, and we had to wait 48mins for our meals to be served and we stand up and complaint and walk away, long wait for food – 48mins. Will not be back again.
New Zealand needs to learn plenty about service. The owner is very busy buying restaurants in Hamilton and making money and don't care about service.
Alison
Been to furnace a few times over the past 2 years and have never been bowled over but the last time was the worst. Dined there on 28th Dec 2010. Had booked a table and had to wait 25mins to be seated even though are table was free, apparently we were waiting for the restaurant manager to seat us (not by our request). Long wait for food - 50mins for entrees, another 40 min for mains. When the main arrived 2 meals had to be sent back as they undercooked. Will not be back again.
Rosie
We have had their $12 lunches - great value and really really nice. I had the fish - was gorgeous. had the sweetcorn fritters that were not so good. Been for dinner - a bit loud and crowded but that's because it is so popular. Very enjoyable -
Kelly
Great $12 menu - lots of options and nice food. Service is a bit slow though, especially if trying to go during a lunch hour.

Furnace had been recommended to me by a number of work colleagues, however I was disappointed with my meal at this restaurant and would not recommend it to others as a result. The food is fairly priced, and there is good variety on the menu, but the quality of the food was terrible. I had ordered the fish-of-the-day - a battered white fish served on vegetables - and had found it to be extremely salty, as if someone had poured brine over the entire meal. Others at the same table with the same dish also found it salty, and most of us did not attempt to finish our meals. Other meals were similarly disappointing, and the meal was only saved as ‘average’ by a delicious coffee afterwards.

The restaurant was extremely busy when I had dinner there, and packed so tightly that some chairs on both sides of our table were up against other diners at unrelated tables. It was also uncomfortably loud, and the restaurant could have made a much more pleasant experience by dampening the sound and having more generous space for seating. The setting is modern and comfortable, but with too few staff and loud atmosphere, it did not make for a pleasant experience. Service was slow, but the restaurant was busy and we had a table of around 20 people, and taking this into account it was not as bad as it could have been.

Overall, I would not suggest to this restaurant to others.
Elloy
made the mistake of going on a public holiday.
ridiculously overcrowded because everyone had figured out you can buy drinks with a meal.
i take into consideration the amount of people but it still took way too long for anything we ordered to arrive.

first time i had ever had creme brulee and from what iv heard it was perfect.
Michael Hill
was alright for a oncer but is very much like eating in a bar. Food was alright.
Ian
Average.. Rather bar'ish. Food can be good but been twice, first time was great second time not so. VERY slow service though
Snke
Fantastic staff! Everytime I go in there, the staff are friendly and attentive. Great thurs, fri and sat nights. A+
NICOLE
Friendly staff who make a fantastic Margarita!
Brendan
I dine at Furnace regularly, and I am blown away every time! The staffs are by far the nicest I have been served by in Hamilton. The service is very good, and the food is stunning! My ultimate favourites would have to be the lamb shanks, pork belly, and the Italian pizza.
Linda
Nice food, slow service!
Bernice Tidswell
Dined here a few Saturdays ago.....service way too slow......drinks took ages to come.....waiting staff great and the food was fabulous, but maybe they need more staff to cope with a Saturday night.
Liz
The atmosphere at Furnace is nice but as the night wears on (we had a late booking) you feel a bit pushed out as they clear the tables away for the people hitting the night clubs. It's kinda like 'you've eaten now pay and get out'.

Music is too loud, but we were beside large speakers right by the kitchen. Maybe have a seperate area for diners who like to linger over coffee or a couple of glasses of wine...?

Food was good but a bit more pricey than I like.
