Review Vegan Buffet - Hamilton

My Favorite eatery. Foods always fresh, tasty and cooked well. Been coming here since they first opened in ward st, and I've never been disappointed. It's a pity the buffets gone, as it was simply the best way to eat vegan food IMO.. but I'm warming to their change to a set menu, and it's really good, as expected. Happy Days 😋

I stopped to grab lunch ( amazing dumplings garnished with their home grown micro greens ) and lucked out here. Delicious, tasty and healthy - such a lovely couple too. 😊 Hamilton show this business some love Wish we had this in Palmerston North!

Wow what a lovely surprise! The food looked great, tasted even better!!!! Prices are not bad either. I would go back for a regular friends lunch date for sure!! The guy who served us was next level friendly!! Beautiful food and leave feeling very very full and satisfied! The plate closes to me is the Aubergine, the best aubergine ive ever tasted!! And the “squid rings” were amazing! What I also thought was amazing were the carrot! Holy cow! They had a beautiful gingery touch. I could have eaten a whole bowl of their carrots damn! See you guys again, soon!

Beautiful healthy and balanced menu, simple yet extraordinary flavours! Loved the mix of proteins and vegetables 😊 Staff were super pleasant & friendly, great prices too! Will be back if I'm in Hamilton again, highly recommend!

Incredible, yum , very reasonable price .. really friendly and u can feel the love in the food. Spa music was playing and it is just wonderful coming away from mask faces and Hamilton garden asking for a vaccine pass.. to a place that let u relax and feel love in the creation of their making. Absolutely recommended please support their family business build with love and passion. We need more of this in the world right now.

Really good variety of dishes full of vegetables and flavour and the gentleman at the till was super friendly as well. Loved the self serve and pay by weight concept. The restaurant itself is sparse but I was able to get my food to go. Would highly recommend!

I am mixed with feelings writing this review. I take my hat off to any plant based eatery for being amazing humans. If you are wanting to go away on a holiday but can’t afford it go to vegan buffet as the food is on point to airplane food. I paid $13 for a full plate (very affordable) and tried a lot of different things and I did not like 1. The food was actually cold and then I looked up and saw someone microwaving theirs. ???? What?! I found this place on my beloved vegan fb page as a recommendation but now have unresolved trust issues. Obviously this place has loyal customers so I politely put my uneaten meal in a takeaway container and said Thankyou.

Good variety of vegan food in a smorgasboard style. There were about 18 different dishes to choose from including roast veggies, noodles, curry, rice, tofu, soy 'meat' and others. There is enough here for any different tastes, so if you are vegan give it a go. Some dishes I loved, and some although nice I wouldn't get again next time. You can either get takeaway or dine in. Decor could be updated a bit with pictures and cupboards, and they just had one song on repeat, so it would be good to mix that up a bit. I'd def try it again though.

Fantastic range of food for an even better price. The staff are lovely and friendly. Always leave feeling satisfied (sometimes overly). Off the beaten path a little when it comes to eatery’s in Hamilton, but that lends to the allure.

so good, in every way! If you're looking for a delicious and wholesome meal, the vegan buffet has it all, and for a reasonable price too! I fill up a container of my favorites, and it works out to be two meals (when i'm feeling cheap, my partner and I will share a container). Depending on what you get, you'll be looking at between $10-$20, and if you're like me and can't finish it one go, the food stores well in a refrigerator and will stay good for a couple of days.

Great selection, some amazing food and some a bit too poweful. Amazing service that makes you want to go back. You're welcome to take your own container (make sure you get it weighed first though). Only open week days during the day except Friday does late night!

Yum food, pretty cheap too. Ate enough for 2 ppl was $16. Would recommend! All menu were well flavored, and not too oily. The restaurant ambience is very decent but I had no complain

Great central location for vegetarian and vegan food. If you go at off-peak times you may find a few things in the buffet running empty, but that's simply to avoid them wasting food at the end of the day. Recommended.

Love this place. Yummy food made with love. The place is clean and the service is welcoming and accommodating. Prices are reasonable for what it is! Definitely recommended! A few reviews say that the food tastes bland, I think everything is really well seasoned, however it is most certainly not loaded with salt, which appeals to me, but might disappoint the fastfood lovers and processed food fans.

It was great being able to eat everything, cheap and yummy! Also we went on Monday at 11am and it was full of people - appeals to all including omnis. Get the sesame pancake if it's there!

Ewwww! Was how the kids described it and I had to agree. Bland, expensive with weird pay by weight system and questionable food hygiene standards. Plate was filthy and found not one, but two hairs in the meal. Decor is very tired and some nasty odours, which the staff explained was unusual and to do with a sewer blockage. Sorry, we tried a healthy option for kids but ended up really disappointed. Will try the vegan place out north Hamilton next time, I hear it is a better option. If you still decide to eat here, then good luck & hopefully you'll have a better experience as it has the potential to be a great little eatery.

Lovely eatery. The seating and decor leaves a little to be desired but then again, this place isn't trying to be fine dining. It does what it tries to do perfectly. Great food, Great service, every time.

Who says Vegan food cant be delicious!!<br/>This place has calm n peaceful ambience, lovely staff n ofcourse delicious food. The restaurant itself is tiny but has plenty to offer. Great buffet display tempts you to load up your plate. The food is cooked fresh as the service hours progresses and all the ingredients used are fresh produce. You can also see the kitchen through the seating area which looks very hygienic. Although it is a buffet setup, you pay by weight and dessert is not included and must be ordered seperately should you crave some sugar. Try to avoid late hours or closing time if visiting, as you may find half empty dishes. Go in the early hours or in the middle of service to make the most of it otherwise you will miss out on the food carnival. A must try, if you are in Hamilton.

I've been coming here since they took over a few years ago and really love the place. The food is always fresh and delicious, but most of all healthy, and the service always warm.<br/>I like to have the saucey sweet soyball dish as the main base dish on my plate with the other dishes around it - more as side dishes... it works better for me flavor-wise so you have a bit of sweet with each spoonful. A great meal every time with no complaints so far.<br/>One of my favorite spots, if not my most favorite spot that i highly recommend. :)<br/>I am a meat eater and not a vegan, so there's no agenda behind my post.<br/>Go and try it, i'm sure you'll be surprised !

This is a great place to enjoy a vegan meal, with awesome friendly staff who go out of their way to make the experience enjoyable. I particularly like  the noodles and fresh salads available. Always good!

The man on the register is super cute in the way that he deals with customers haha :D I believe this joint is connected with the one out Te Rapa way. If i'm to be honest I didn't enjoy everything I chose out for myself from the buffet but i'll know better for next time I return.

I have been going to this cafe since they were called the Chinese healthy vegetarian years ago.<br/>Excellent food, always the good old favourites and new things periodically. <br/>The good is delicious. It's amazing that vegan food could be so varied and interesting!<br/>Clean and tidy restaurant<br/>It's pay by weight and really affordable and reasonable.<br/>And for a slightly different spin on it you can head to Bryant rd Te Rapa to their brothers place.<br/>Lovely people who make you feel like part of the family.<br/>I wish they would run cooking classes!!

A bit cramped seating but the food is delicious. And as it is a buffet you can sample the whole spread. I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

How excited I was to go to an all-vegan takeaway! The service is superb, the couple that own the restaurant are lovely. The food is good, but just lacks a little something! It would also be nice to see a few different dishes every now and then just to keep it interesting. You pay by weight and it can end up costing quite a bit.

Always good food and service here.  The restaurant is always clean and staff are lovely.  The food tastes fresh and the only downside is that they tend to serve the same food day in day out.  A change would be welcome sometimes.

Absolutely delicious! I've been here quite a few times now and love getting a meal from there on Fridays when they are open late. Great price and lovely staff too. Don't think this place will ever disappoint me! Yummy :)

I was hoping to have tasty food here... clean, kosher and variety but no flavour and I already eat low salt but this is low salt. I found the food bland and pricey as I bought $8 worth and I was still not full. The person who cooks here probably does not use salt in their cooking but for the rest of the world many people do eat salt... the food would taste better with more salt and spices in it. Kiwi culture tends to like bland food but that is not the case in my situation as I have travelled throughout Asia and lived in Mexico. I would rate them 5/10 and probably not eat there again unless it was my only option. Also suggest that they sell fried pieces like baiji or roti separately like .50 to $2 and that would be better for customer then weighing everything. They also use a lot of wheat in everything and one spiced rice is available but not white rice, which should be available and sold by small or large bowl, not weighed. The hot sauce was not good in my opinion and they should serve runnier hot sauce with chilies in it and provide a sprinkle like Japanese 7 spice so people can flavour their food more. Food too simple and too pricey, not flavourful.<br/>I definitely would not call this Chinese vegetarian food- sorry. I have eaten at the best Chinese vegetarian restaurants in Penang and Kota Bharu, Malaysia and this is far from it.

Excellent food! Great selection and very tasty. This place is as good as all the previous reviews say it is and well worth a visit. The food was fresh and interesting with beautiful flavours and if your taste buds are tired and jaded this is well worth a shot. Neither my wife or I are vegetarians but this is now our first stop for lunch when visiting Hamilton.

Walk in and choose from the buffet, weigh in the food and takeaway or in house dining. Back of house is sparkling and superb and the chefs outstanding vegan recipe served a bean curd addiction I still can't shake. Front of house is direct and precisely as it was when I first dined there 4 years ago.<br/>With compliments.

Excellent food and service! I love how they weigh your food - this allowed me to select exactly how much I wanted. The food was very cheap and delicious. Complete value for money. We went here for two meals in one day! Thanks for the lovely service and healthy meals :)

I was so excited to read that they had vegan cheesecake, and it was amazing. So. Good. Also, the staff were lovely, and the place was spotless; clearly very high hygiene standards, gloves and caps used for everything, could have just about eaten off the floor.

I have been going here since it opened. Delicious! Delicious! Delicious! Lovely people and once again, delicious food. They now have a vegan cheesecake, which is divine and the non vegan would be fooled. I highly recommend that you go and try the food with their pay by the weight system.<br/>I love this place :)

I'd heard a lot of good recommendations for this place and finally had the chance to drop in today. It is now officially my favorite place to eat in Hamilton. Wonderful food, friendly, helpful, inexpensive... I only wish it was open evenings (it's only open on Friday evening) as I'd be there a lot more often! 10 stars!!

The most amazing and friendly staff and great food. I'm not vegan and I love this place! Even if you go in and they have run out of your favorite item they will try hard to accommodate! I could not write enough great things about this place, it's a must for everyone- vegan and meat eaters. It's amazing!!

I stopped in on Friday night thinking they were open, but the door was open as they were cleaning up for the night. Friendliest, loveliest couple! They still served us, asking what we had in mind and offering us food they had packed into containers already. I was so grateful because it was just me and my toddler and we were both tired and hungry!<br/>The food was so delicious, I went back the next day for lunch and sad to find it closed. I'd heard my friends rave about this place and it's already a favourite for me. One of the cheapest most delicious, nutritious eats. Thank you!!

I'm not vegan and I still ADORE this place! Had no idea that food without meat could taste really good. Only tofu I've ever eaten and enjoyed! They run on a really cool pay by weight system and it's the only buffet type place that I've ever been to where I've never seen an empty dish in the service area (and I go there a lot). Very attentive and friendly staff.

I LOVE this place!! I don't even live in hamilton so I make the journey just to enjoy the delicious food. It's on my list of places to eat while I am back on holiday from Abu Dhabi. My meat eater dad can't believe how good the food is either. The staff, as people have said, are super friendly. I can't say enough good things about the place. It's definitely a must try if you haven't already :)

Absolutely divine food. Real food, lots of flavour, texture, colour and energy. Food that gives you the buzz of life when eating. Recommend to everyone - not just vegan's and vego's.

Plus customers are usually given a free cup of jasmine green tea with their food. Very reasonable prices. <br/>My favourite restaurant.

This place is just great with the new menu items, my husband is a regular customer as he has to just walk down the road but I have to take time out to drive from work however I just love their food it is cheap and worth the trip.

Wow I love the Vegan Buffet. Shine (staff) is a lovely friendly woman, who always greats us when we are there. The food is tasty, nutritious and cheap! I take all of my family (including my vege 5 yr old). This is such value for money and being able to eat without worrying about whether there is animal products or by products (I am vegan) is such a treat! No-one can say that vegan food is not tasty here. We can all eat in a compassionate and cruelty-free way if more places like Vegan Buffet existed!

This is one of my favourite places to eat. The food is nutritious and costs so little for what you get. Very friendly staff and I agree that whilst the outside appearance isn't much the food &amp; service make up for it!

This place has now changed it's name to 'vegan buffet', and they have added some nice fresh stuff, and things like sushi and a range of noodle dishes to their reppotoire. This is not just for vegans/vegetarians there is something for everyone....so delicious for so cheap.

very tasty food. its the only place in town i can go where i can have everything they offer without concern the food is fully vegan and they use no MSG. my family love to get food from there it is SO cheap you can feed a family for $25-$30. usually i go for lunch i only end up spending $6 and walk away full. i wish they were open to 7 every night. the staff i think own it and put a lot of love into it. you can feel it in there food.

This place is a family favourite. Doesn't look too amazing from outside, but the food is delicious and cheap and 100% vegan.

A buffet style, Taiwanese restaraunt. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, takeaway or dine-in, and entirely vegan/vegetarian menu.<br/><br/>It may not look like much on first impression, but the food is as tasty as it gets, and is exceptionally good value. You pay by weight (apart from rice which is paid by bowl - $1!) - you can get a a good plate of food for about $5, and for $10 you'd be struggling to balance all the food on the plate!<br/><br/>I'd recommend it to any vegetarian without a doubt!
