Review Dumpling House - Hamilton

We ordered 4items 20 porkncabbage dumplings $23.90, pork buns,and large dumplings. Dumplings w/noodle. Dumplings came with. Dumplings w/noodle on sauce mild spicy, which had a subtle kick, good if you don't like too much spice. Good portion size. Good service, wait time was reasonable. Best of all food was really nice!

We ordered Wonton Noodle Soup & Braised Pork Belly on Rice. Food came piping hot wrapped secure and perfect. Flavourful and great portions. The pork belly was AMAZING, tender, good amounts of meat to Rice ratio the Flavour was to die for!! Highly recommend this dish to all. The Wonton soup is a regular favorite, can't flaw that too. Every dish you get from this store will be well worth your time and money. Highly recommended to all - thanks Dumpling House Grey Street, you guys always cook beautiful, tasty food!!

After so many good recommendations from our Chinese homestay students, we finally had a meal in this small and modest Chinese restaurant, famous for its fried dumpling recipes. And it’s fair to say that the dumpling are really good and satisfying, comes in a very reasonable portion, enough for 2 people. It gets busy after 5:30, so arrive early to avoid the crowds and the waves of takeaway orders.

My go to is the spicy wonton noodle soup! Their noodle soups are just so flavourful & delicious! Dumplings are yummy and pretty much everything we've tried from here is yum! Highly recommend

The food tastes as good as ever in spite of the price increase. In particular, I would like to say that when we were traveling in Hamilton a year ago, the staff who served us was very indifferent to us, so we had a bad experience in overall dining. This time, the restaurant might have a new employee, who introduced the dishes warmly and patiently during the reception, which made me satisfied:)

Usually the rule is 3.5 stars = Good Chinese Food but I could tell from the pictures that this place would be an exception. High ratings AND it looked dated! Staff are kind and quick, and the food is SO GOOD! Deep-fried wontons were crispy and tasty, and the chicken fried rice was hot, moist, and delicious. Random choice for the night but we're so glad we did!

Enjoyed a great lunch on a very cold, rainy day. The dumplings were delicious and the front desk staff were enthusiastic and professional. Great dining experience!

Cheap and delicious Chinese food!! Love this place :) so many choices with maybe bowls of noodles or many dumplings to choose from! A great selection and friendly staff.

Th8s dumpling house has great food but I wish they offered liang pi cold noodles. This time I got Pork & Pawn Dumplings which are great value. I asked for tea but it wasn't provided. My dumplings came with one sauce a very yummy garlic sauce but I like to eat my dumplings with chilli, soy and vinegar. Would be great if these are on all the tables when I next visit. I like to eat Chinese with chop sticks too but I was given a fork. Would be great if you ask customers next time which they perfer. It's so easy to do, I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants the Chinese authentic experience.

Dumpling was great. The skin was quite unique in a great way. It felt like eating noodle skin, instead of dumpling skin. However, the fillings and dipping sauce were average. It was lacking flavor to match the skin.

Like the one i had during the night market at Te Rapa, their dumplings were tasty and the chilli sauce they offer together with your order gives them plus points. The soup was comforting. If you are looking for something not ultimately exciting, it would definitely suit you (the soup). Will come back to try some more though..

This is one of the best places in Hamilton serving authentic Chinese food. Located amidst a range of restraunts, this is one of the must visit places for people wanting to have Chinese food. The ambience of the place is just about ok. It's not a fine dine but comes across more like a casual dine in.<br/><br/>Coming to what I liked here. I especially loved braised pork and beef here. I had ordered several other dishes when I went there but sadly names of those I don't remember 🤣. All in all I had a lovely time here. The service was quick and efficient. The portions were ample. I will surely visit again to try some more things. Till then please visit this place to try some good Chinese cuisine at reasonable rates.<br/><br/>

Went to dumpling house for a weeknight diner. we had oxtail soup, spicy dumpling soup and the spring roll pancakes. The food was great and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Will go back!

Texture was still good.<br/>Dumplings in chicken soup was alright, dumplings itself was pretty average compared to dumpling places in Auckland, soup was nice and sour I enjoyed this.<br/>Pancakes were just average pancakes.<br/><br/>

I love this place! I’ve been here so many times and it just gets better every time! Love the dumplings and pancakes, both are cooked as expected everytime, perfect. Great service. Overall amazing.

Enjoy eating here regularly. Fave items are the pork and prawn dumplings, or pork and mushroom. Also enjoy the dumplings on noodles with spicy sauce. Braised pork on rice is also nice.

Myself and my family enjoy it every single time, real and fresh ingredients... delicious... 100% must try, it will be your new favourite forsure ❤️

Best dumplings in New Zealand! It was such a busy place to dine in and takeaway tonight. We had to wait sometime for a table, but the food was absolutely worth waiting for. Loved the wonton soup too, will definitely come back again and again!

Don't go in expecting exquisite dine in ambience, however I love the simple and humble food they serve here. Been here many time and will continue dropping it. <br/>PS: avoid taking takeaways, you might not enjoy it as much as dine in.

Best dumplings I had in Hamilton .. Pork and mince dumplings is just a sign of joy and happy feast. Located in center of the city and near to universitiy, I must say it is great.

Devine dumplings. I prefer pan fried. Pork belly on rice is yummy. 👍 there are also some strange dishes like pig lips etc. I have not tried those but they do look good. Not like lips at all. Please try this place I give them a top score.

Really awesome food and service. Great location, don’t even need to worry about the parking rather than in the city. All food is all really yum, especially the sour/spicy beef noodles. But the space is small we need to wait for a while if there are lots of customers

Went here today for lunch, was quite busy for a Tuesday! We had vegetarian noodle soup which had a great flavour, noodles were slightly undercooked for my liking. Egg and chive dumplings were great, we got them fried so nice and crispy. My only suggestion for this place would be to have the sauces on the table.

Some items on the menu are great, such as the spring onion pancakes and dumplings in soup, which I come back for a lot. But the cold plates at $12 are not that tasty. The soy milk here is terrible, just sugary water..

Average dumplings! Unfortunately they didn't survive the drive home all that well, I got home and they were stuck together and falling apart. A downside would be part of the root of a vegetable managed to make its way into one of my dumplings which wasn't all appealing. But apart from those things, the dumplings were very tasteful and full of flavour. I would more than likely go back!

We went there for lunch. The service was average, no smiles or thank you. Got the wonton soup and pork with chive dumplings. Food came out quickly. The taste was okay, you can taste the msg especially in the wonton soup. Portions are on the low end, left feeling half full. The place needs a detailed cleanup. The chopsticks are sticky and the dispenser was covered with stains. The price was too high for the quality you receive. It's around $3-5 more than tastier restaurants in Auckland. They charge $2 extra for pan fried dumplings?! Really not impressed. Better off going to The Chilli House on Victoria Street for better quality dumplings.

Excellent place to come if you want an authentic Chinese experience. Whilst I was there Chinese people were coming in to purchase which says to me even their own people give it the thumbs up. Everything is home-made I could see the crew around a table at the back making dumplings. Whilst I was at the counter I could see large pots of stock simmering on the stove. I love that I can come to a place like this and guarantee that soup powder or any other readymade product will not be used. If you want straight out of China experience come to this place. By the way the front of house staff person was very pleasant and polite , excellent English, and appeared clean and tidy. The prices are very reasonable I got quite full from my bowl of wonton soup which kept me going for hours afterwards yet it was only $10. At that price I could afford to eat here everyday. Probably the only downside was that the dining area was a bit drafty given today was a cold day I felt a bit chilly so probably pay to bring a jacket. But for the price I paid I could not expect to get wall to wall carpet and air conditioning. Thankfully I went there for the food experience which I definitely got if I wanted decor and ambiance I would have gone somewhere else but I felt it was a typical cafe experience where the main street is just outside on a busy corner so although I dined by myself I felt like I was part of the community and not alone. A wonderful experience thank you and will definitely return to try out the rest of the menu.

Dumplings were ok. Found them to be doughy but not sure whether that was because the filling may have been on the light side. Wonton soup was a good decent size but bland. Braised brisket and rice was flavoursome

Their name is a bit of a misnomer - the dumplings are pretty good and there is a wide variety of them, but they don't particularly stand out compared to their Auckland counterparts. It's a great place for dinner in an overall sense, though. Loved their oxtail hotpot, will be back again and again!

I love dumplings, but I have yet to try Dumpling House until tonight, and wow! These were the best dumplings I've ever had in New Zealand. Really good price also! 20 steamed dumplings for $12(an extra $2 for pan fried) I would recommend this to anyone!

You can dine in, takeaway or even buy frozen dumplings to steam or fry at home!<br/>We ordered pork and prawn steamed dumplings, egg and chives pan fried dumplings, chicken noodles and a savoury pancake. Servings were large. Didn't like the chicken noodles but the dumplings just eclipsed everything and were delicious.<br/>The staff are lovely... Just like a small cafe in China. I highly recommend. We will be back.

Very authentic Chinese food. Love the dumplings, the beef noodles and wonton noodles. Reasonable price with big portions. I always come here when I don't want to spend too much for nice food.

This is home cooked auntie style Northern Chinese food at its best. Dishes range from 10 to 15 dollars and it is astonishing that this place hasn't been reviewed more. Definitely my go to place for a flavoursome meal. You can't go wrong with the dumplings, ox tail<br/>Hot pot or any of the noodle dishes. Best kept secret in hamilton!
