Totally trust the chef at this place! The meal was amazing and the atmosphere was great! There were just 2 people running the place and the restaurant was packed, however they were still on top of everything without delay. Kudos for that!

Nailed it, no notes. The balance of flavours was impeccable, every bite can be different yet perfect. It’s not exotic or overly artistic, just extremely refined (dare I say) normal food that is definitely worth a visit for anyone living within an hour of Hamilton. I was even more surprised that there were only two people running the entire operation on a Friday evening… hats off to the chef and the waitress.

Came here last night and did trust the chef, which was excellent! They were really accommodating of my food allergy and recommended a delicious fermented drink, full of natural healing properties. My favourite dish was a steak tartare in a crunchy nori shell, unlike anything I’ve eaten before! Feels more like having dinner with a close relative, who happens to be an excellent chef, than going to a restaurant. You must visit!

Lovely old villa converted to restaurant so a number of spaces you can be seated in, makes it easier to create atmosphere filling each space at a time. Popular as we were there Wed and full by the time we finished.
Staff were friendly and approachable and perfectly attentive.
Opted for Trust the Chef and did not disappoint, great combination of flavours and textures across the 3 courses - pork belly and calamari to start Beef Wellington (so good!) for main and a lighter poached pear and deep fried ice-cream dessert.
BYO wine a great option.
Definitely recommend, will be looking for reasons to return!

Went there for my mother's birthday and was happy with the service and food. Went with chef's choice and got to sample what was on their menu. Good food and was also surprised how busy it got later in the evening.

Cozy atmosphere with the candles lit on every table, and a nice selection of music for the background.
The food was excellently made and tasted wonderful. The crackling was enjoyably crunchy, and the pork was delightful to the tastebuds, with its side of mash potato and asparagus.
The Wellington was also delicious and enjoyed.
The server was very welcoming and pleasant.
I enjoy the idea of BYO alcoholic beverages, though did not this time and just had the tap water provided by the server.

Went for a date night here recently. Was really interested in doing a trust the chef but there was so much good stuff on the general menu that we had to order the six dishes we wanted. Everything was delicious. They don’t have an alcohol menu. You can order in or bring your own for a corkage, but their mocktails are really good especially the plum one! We will have to return for a trust the chef because friends have recommended it.

Chef Logan truly creates some edible masterpieces, but the lamb rump I had the other day surpassed any protein I've had before. (Spoiled me).
Same was said by my partner and friends regarding the beef wellington and pork belly.

My husband and I visited on our honeymoon road trip - so glad we did, it was an incredible intimate dining experience.
We love food and adore when restaurants have a “trust the chef” option. This is a great option here as the food was divine.
Chef Logan went above and beyond! Our main was a 30hr braised lamb shank with the most delicious truffle mushroom mousse ever made. To say we were impressed was an understatement, I’m just sad that we don’t live in NZ and can visit again soon.
The atmosphere and interior design is both beautiful and comfortable, and the staff were impeccable with their service and attention to detail.
I would recommend Thyme Square as a must do for anyone visiting Hamilton. Thank you for taking such good care of us!

Had the chefs choice 5 course meal. We loved every course, the food was outstanding. If you are a foodie I recommend to go there. Some wait between courses but it added to the atmosphere to have a decent experience and night out as meal. Don’t forget to take your own bottle of wine.

Some of the best food I've had in Hamilton! Really creative dishes with delicious vegetarian options. The setting is intimate with various rooms and romantic lighting and excellent service. The fact it is byo is an added bonus!

We had dinner here tonight and what a surprise it was! I didn’t know the restaurant and randomly booked after a google search. The food here is very, very good. It is prepared and presented with care and tastes like it. The flavours were well thought through, servings were generous and the quality of the food was outstanding. Highly recommended. What an exquisite place! Thank you for our beautifully presented meals. 10 out of 10 for the Lamb Shank. The side plates of potatoes and broccoli were delicious. And the deep fried ice cream in filo pastry was a great way to end the meal!

We booked a table for three for dinner before lockdown and it was fantastic. The place is super cosy, very inviting, warm and beautiful, and the service was friendly. The food came out in a timely manner and was well presented. Everything tasted exactly like how it looked and was very fresh. Pricing is a little on the pricier side but well worth the money for how much effort goes in to the food. Looking forward to dining here again!
