Great restaurant. Very beautiful. Be quiet. The food is also very good. We like it very much.

The owners of the restaurant are an elderly couple cook every dish. It's a bit of a wait, but the taste is worth it. Their fried food is so authentic that it's definitely worth trying

We have dined in most restaurants in Hamilton and tonight we dined at Shinjuku and it is a 10/10 rating from us. The food is authentic and superbly cooked. All 6 dishes that we had were exquisitive and could not be faulted. Small quiet restaurant, service was outstanding, and we talked to the elderly owner who is also the chef and we knew instantly that his cooking skills were masterful, hence the extraordinary food. There was only 1 dessert on the menu, but you didnt need any other choices, because the fried banana with green tea ice cream was amazing! Try it, you wont be disappointed! We will be back and will bring more friends with us! Arigatō Shinjuku

First timer there and we’re so impressed with the meals. Very good food with reasonable price!! Prawn tempura is a must order as a side. It’s very light and crunchy but not oily at all. 🍤

Very delicious and authentic Japanese food! Ordered the eel that comes with chicken katsu & tempura and special bento with salmon sushi & sashimi & prawn tempura. Savoured every mouthful! Highly recommended and well worth the wait. Great ambience as well. Love the Japanese musical instrument’s rendition of the Beatles’ classics.

Good food, specially niguiri sushi and sashimi. The price is good too.

Some of the best food I've had in my entire life. I order here frequently because I can't get enough. The portion sizes are perfect and the flavors of every dish are fantastic. Service also never misses a beat.

Really great. Fantastic service. Creative and tasty food. Good mix of different and alternative food and food for those who like to play it safe. Really fun place to go with friends or a great place for a fun date.

Enjoyed the food here. We ordered the bento boxes which has a wide selection of food. We also ordered a lot of the small side dishes which were also very tasty and cheap.

I've never described customer service as gracious, but that's exactly what you get here. The waiter is so attentive and hospitable, making you feel completely at home. They were perfectly understanding when I asked for my fish cooked (as I am pregnant and can't eat raw sadly) and everything was so beautifully presented. Loved it.

Service is always good and efficient. Their sushi always tastes fresh and hot dishes consistently good everytime we eat here. Menu is good too. We have young children and at times have had to change their orders not long after placing them. We also ask that the kids food be served as soon as practical. The staff have always been accomodating.

nice food and price，we order medium sashimi combo that includes 20piece.It is very fresh and large. sushi combo is various and delicious，also the dinner box is amazing.

This is one of my favorite restaurants to eat at.<br/>The food is always so fresh and the byo is great when it's girls night outs. The waiter/waitresses are always friendly.

I really appreciate the location of the restaurant and how easily accessible it is, and the interiors of the place is quite attractive, it gave a sense of Japanese hospitality, unlike most overblown Asian restaurants. The staff were quite polite and attentive as well.<br/>For the food:<br/>we had the takoyaki which was fairly good -slightly crispy merging towards the soft saucy insides and then the chewy octopus. <br/>The Steamed gyoza wasn't very appealing, it lacked consistency and was rather bland in taste, even with the provided sauce. <br/>The fried oysters were a bit empty, there was too much crumb and batter that the insides were quite hollow. <br/>The teriyaki salmon was a bit over cooked and dry but was well compensated by their teriyaki sauce<br/>The chilli fish was quite good, well cooked with even flavours throughout every bite. <br/>Their steamed rice was perfect, it holds and pushes your appetite throughout the meal.

Shinjuku is one of my favourite Japanese Restaurants in Hamilton, great food and amazing atmosphere. Meals are flavoursome and authentic, a great family outing

The service is above average, both staff were attentive to our needs. The food (Chicken dinner box and Sushi/Sashimi platter) was a delight, cravings truly satisfied. The ambiance is just about right. Would refer this authentic Japanese resto to friends and families.

I had the steak bento for dinner. The steak was chewy, the sushi and sashimi accompanying it were minuscule and the miso soup only had two pieces of wakame and nothing extra (tofu? Shellfish?). Utterly disappointed and wont be returning :-(

Shinjuku never fails to impress us. Lovely food and relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff also help to make an enjoyable evening. Our only suggestion would be to let people finish their starters before bringing out the main course as our table for 4 people became very cluttered with dishes. We do however appreciate that we could bring our own wine though. We have been to Shinjuku several times over the last couple of years and will continue to return as we love the cuisine. Our Japanese student also loved the food and said it was as good as some restaurants in Tokyo which I think is a great recommendation.

Great if you are looking for run-of-the-mill Japanese food, an ethnic food that doesn't seem to appear in Hamilton much.<br/>I visit quite often as it offers a reliable, tasty and cheap Japanese meal. The service is usually great and always seems a very nice family-run business.<br/><br/>However, I do find the sushi (or at least the pieces served with the set dinners/lunches) to not be fantastic. Eel (unagi) is my number one favourite Japanese food, but I do find the eel on offer at Shinjuku to be a rather from-the-freezer-to-the-microwave affair. I'd love to see some grilling and more (or better) sauce (Kabayaki no Tare). I am also slightly confused by the tiny fruit salads they always serve...<br/><br/>But overall, I do enjoy dining here. It seems to be a great place for large groups (there was a group of roughly 15 last time I visited), and has a really varied menu. My favourites are many of the entrees, especially yaki gyoza and tako yaki. If you are in Hamilton and want a rough introduction to Japanese food other than just generic sushi rolls, Shinjuku is a great place to go. <br/><br/>The banana tempura is also delicious (albiet not very Japanese!)

tried the chicken bento and my boyfriend had the chicken teppenyaki. it came with a complimentary side dish of sushi rolls and sashimi which was really good! had more than enough food and worth the money spent. will definitely be returning to try out the other dishes. good service and friendly staff.

This is my favourite restaurant to dine at. The food is fresh and tasty, the service is fantastic and the pricing is reasonable. The decor is simple but effective. The chicken tepanyaki is really yummy and I always leave there feeling like I've had a really satisfying but healthy meal. Love it.

Me and my husband had dinner here tonight. We had sushi, chicken box, seafood dish and it was absolutely beautiful. Celebrated our wedding anniversary and I will definitely recommend people coming to eat. The staff are very polite and it was clean and tidy. A+ rating here and reasonably priced aswell. Our meal came to $58 and it was wonderful :)

We've eaten here a number of times now, and always thoroughly enjoy it! Food is fresh, delicious and reasonably priced. Service is always quick and friendly. Would love to know what they put in their salad dressing as it really is divine.

My favourite Japanese restaurant and been here a number of times. The service is great and they are always attentive. Food has never disappointed me and I think the prices are reasonable. Entrees are yum too for something different. Would recommend the seafood savoury pancakes as a starter. A lot of friends I've taken there love the salad and the salad dressing also.

The food and service here were just fine, and I will go back. The seaweed salad and oshinko was good, as was the yakisoba. Miso soup didn't have enough rich flavor...tasted bland. Probably my fault for not trying any other items, but I did not find any of the items here particularly exciting. But, good for fixing a hankering.

Have always enjoyed food at Shinjuku, pretty simple decor and consistent quality food. Salad dressing is a winner. Only criticism is a tad expensive.
