First time customer here, after reading the comments on here about how nice the food is I thought it’s about time to go check it out. For a little place that most people don’t see it’s very busy, well that night I went in it was. As for the food, I started with the burger range. I got 2 burgers with a combo These burgers were the $13.50 range. One was the breakfast burger which blew my mind on how big an heavy it really is. The other was the Fried chicken burger. If you don’t mind the mess while eating it then you gonna love these burgers. I give them a 9/10 for the breakfast burger an the fried chicken 7/10 both filled will a lot of fillings an not shy on the meat as well. Big and worth the price. Next time it will be the fish burger and try some of the lovely Thai food.

Amazing burger menu and the servings are wonderfully generous! Wide ranging Thai curry menu and they do an awesome green curry and pad thai. Everything is well priced for the portions. Lovely couple that own and manage the store. I would recommend this joint for Thai without hesitation.

My first time at Thai & Kai, Great service, fresh ingredients & tasty food. I ordered the American Gourmet burger & 2 battered mussels. My only complaint is that I didn't order more, definitely will be back to try the Thai food.

Really Yummy! I'm a fussy eater and hate when Thai food is full of onion and mushroom and light on the pricier veggies. Whenever I ask for those things to be omitted, it is no problem and my meal is always full of the good stuff. Sauces are delish, and this place is our local. So good that I can fill my Asian food craving and my partner can get his faithful fish and chips all at once. Thanks for being reliable and tasty.

Really friendly welcoming customer service! Went there for the first time and ordered BBQ pork ribs on fries and they did not disappoint! Will definitely be back to try the other items on the menu! Also love to point out the diverse menu that will satisfy anybody’s dinner cravings!

We often get Thai & Kai, the fish and chips are good, the gourmet burgers are enough to keep a big bloke happy and the fish burger is great value for money. Mussaman curry is fave in my family, also like the Pad see Elw has a nice flavour however in my opinions needs something more, maybe just more sauce. Going to try the Pad Thai tonight so fingers crossed its a good one too.

I can only vouch for the Thai component as I haven't tried the Kai but dang it's the best Thai in town! Two mains feeds three in my house. The price isn't so bad especially considering the quality - and the excellent service! I think we usually get a chicken Choo Chee (delicious) and others, we've never been disappointed. My only quibble is I always seem to feel like Thai on a Monday - when they're closed, but I suppose everyone needs a night off sometimes!

First time here. Thought menu was very expensive & interior presentation very tired & worn. No food grading on display. Place appears very popular for takeaway food but is deffinitely not a restaurant. Food was OK but not worth the price. Cheaper & better in town.

Fantastic take away store! Friendly staff and delicious food. Love the play on words for the burger names. I had Pad Khing which was delicious and enough for my lunch the following day! My partner had a burger combo which was a more than decent size and the beer battered chips were amazing! Will definitely be our new local! Cheers!

My husband and I were disappointed with Thai and Kai after reading the great reviews on Zomato. The food was average at best. We ordered the Pad Thai and the Red Curry. Both dishes were very bland and needed more spice. We had to add more spices to our food at home. Unfortunately we won't be back and wouldn't recommend this place to others.

I read the reviews and decided I better try this place. Was shocked when I arrived at address to experience a tired shop frontage and very lacklustre interior, still it was clean and a menu selection you would expect from a more upmarket restaurant, the burger bar / fish and chip part of the menu was inviting, I chose a Thai meal and it was not cheap, considering the type of venue, but after consuming my meal I was really happy with the flavour and quantity and will be planning a revisit, burgers are on the wish list next time. Would have given 5 if it was based just on the food.

What happened to my earlier review? Why has it been removed from this site? The food here is excellent, the best Thai take out in Hamilton by far. The food is authentic and delicious. The Kai menu is great, crisp delicious chips, fish is always good, crumbed is even better. They have a range of really tasty gourmet burgers that are so good. I would recommend Thai and Kai to anybody living in or passing though Hamilton. It's also close to the stadium so if you're going to the rugby, this is a great place to get dinner on the way

I read the great reviews on this site and I was not disappointed! Excellent pad thai and the most delicious curry puffs I think I've ever had, and I've spent some time in Thailand! The staff were all super friendly. Definitely worth a visit for anyone who wants the best Thai food in Hamilton!

Thai & Kai has a great selection of Thai food that I find is the best in Hamilton. The staff are friendly and always have a smile and great attitude. The fish & chip menu is also great and have a wide selection of choices. You will not be disappointed going to them for your next meal, i personally wont go anywhere else :)

We bought our dinner here on Friday night and as always it was superb. Always a generous helping at a really good price and we can never fault the meals. Best thai we have ever had!!!!!!!!!!! All the food we have tried on there menu board has been excellent along with there friendly manner and welcoming smile.. You won't be disappointed. there was enough for two meals for both of us and we just keep going back whenever we are in Hamilton

We have just moved to the area. We had very good Thai from Thai & Kai on Saturday night, very tasty chicken Pad Thai and beef Massaman curry. Tonight however the fish & chips weren't the best. Will have to be Thai only from now on...

Thai & Kai simply has the best Thai food in Hamilton. You will definitely not be disappointed by ordering from here. We are regulars (for the past few years). We've eaten some of the best Thai food around the country and this unassuming little place on Rimu Street is right up there! Their curries, soups, hot beef salad, money bags, chicken kebabs, curry puffs and more are to die for. Don't hold back; order a banquet :). They know good customer service too. Genuine, caring people. It's a pleasure to be their customer.

Went here hoping to find a new local chippy as we have recently moved. The fish (terakihi) was inedible (smelt and tasted horrible) and must have been well past its used by date. It would have to be the worst fish I have ever eaten from a takeaway store. The hot dogs, chips and prawn twisters were acceptable. We also had Pad Thai which was at best average, it was mainly noodles with a very small portion of diced chicken on the top and a few beans. We will be getting something else for dinner on top of this as the fish and most of the Pad Thai went in the bin!!

A lovely little place. I recommend it! There should be more restaurants like this one. We had chicken kebabs which were lovely and tender, beef fried rice which was very tasty, and green chicken curry which was as good or better than Thai Orchid was 10 years ago. Beautiful! I also appreciate that they didn't mind me taking a while to order.

We have been getting Thai & Kai to make gluten free options on some of the Thai food for quite a while, and really appreciated that they took the effort to find some substitute ingredients so the food still tasted good rather than just leaving ingredients out like some other places do. Tonight we got the gluten free Fish & Chips and they were excellent!! The kids are so excited - normally they can only have homemade fish & chips, or if we go up to Auckland for special occasions like birthdays we always stop at the gluten free fish & chip shop up there because that's the only other decent place we have found them. My husband & kids are gluten free, I'm not, so I can happily say that Thai & Kai's normal food is delicious too.

We love the food from Thai & Kai. We read a review about the place a long time ago and decided that we should try it and have never looked back! Sometimes it's hard to imagine a little place in the suburbs is worth a visit for food over a large popular restaurant in the city but this was definitely worth it. We have never ordered Thai takeout from anyone else since our first visit to Thai & Kai as the food is always hot, fresh and authentic. There are lots of different foods to choose from too. The kitchen is visible from the counter and always looks clean and organised - a big plus for us clean freaks!

Can never decide to go Thai or F + C when getting take away from here - both Sooooooooooooooo good. The fish and chips are genuinley fantastic (love the fact they come with a squeeze of lemon too!). we have tried plenty of fish and chip shops in and around hamilton but this is the best by far! This place is brilliant!!!! We have a takeaway night once a week and take turns choosing where to go. But since trying Thai and Kai we no longer take turns chosing, it's a no brainer, Thai and Kai every week from now on! The owners are really friendly, they're fast and affordable, and the quality of food is amazing. If I could describe the food in four words it would be "Nom nom nom nom..."

So I've lived in Hamilton for many years and always looking for a good fish and chip place. I'm about to move to a new house in Forrest Lake so decided to check out the local talent tonight. So after hearing lots of people rave about this 'Thai and Kai' place on Rimu I thought I'd give it a whirl. Oooohhh dear God I'm in heaven!!! That place is too good. There must be some kind of black magic voodoo in there to be that good! Absolutely AMAZING!!! I'm going to get so fat when we move in to our new house because it's walking distance from this place. I will be sampling everything on the menu! Love it Love it Love it!!!! Ps- Hubby hates fish and chips, and barely touches it when I buy it. Tonight he cleaned his plate and asked for more!

This is a place I really want to like. The people seemed very friendly and nice, and the prices for fish and chips seemed reasonable. However, the Thai food was bland and unexceptional, especially compared with Tuk-Tuk, whose prices are comparable (i.e., too expensive for takeaway). Having said that, I have yet to find Thai restaurants I find satisfactory in New Zealand (two in Christchurch come close), so my standard for Thai food is quite a bit higher than the average Kiwi. This place has its charm, and if you like most Thai restaurants in New Zealand, you will like this place. Definitely worth a try so you can form your own opinion.

This little gem situated next to the roundabout, is the best kept secret in Hamilton. No flash tables as you would expect if you were dining in a flash restaurant with large overheads and prices. But you can eat in or take-away. The food is as good if not better than any flashy restaurant. The fish and chips are not dripping in fat like some other places. The burgers are like the good old days....yes they use beetroot, and more than one piece. If your going to order Thai your in for a treat and I recommend the Cashew nuts with pork. The family of staff are friendly and welcoming, with a great sense of humour.

I've been several times now and was thrilled to receive the same high standard of food each time. I'm not a great fan of fish & chips so was very thrilled when mine was delicious. The Hoki fish was lovely, very moist. Loved the crunchy bits in with my chips. Always a fave of mine. Also pleased with the Gourmet Chicken Burger I got.
