Review Cafe Agora - Hamilton

Aileen Gutierrez
When we drop by here it’s always packed with what I assume are regulars grabbing their coffee fix (which by the way they do really well). We got ourselves some chips and soup, definitely for sharing in terms of size. If you want that “approachable, down to earth cafe” then this might be the place for you.

Best cafe in Hamilton I reckon. Vegan/gf options available & they cater to your specific dietary needs where possible. Also world class coffee…just saying

The food here is always great. Really interesting stuff beyond your usual cafe classics. Particularly love their breakfast. Good coffee as well! Love that they give to a different charity each month, awesome to see them contributing to the community. Service is great too.

We found this place through the entertainment book and were amazed at everything about this cafe. We had the fried chicken and bao pork buns which were both of high quality with a perfect balance of the sweet sauce and buns with the pickled cucumber. They use La Mai coffee which is fair trade and supports the people of Thailand. The atmosphere is great with wicked artwork on the walls, plants and an indoor/outdoor flow.

I liked the place a lot actually. The coffee was pretty alright if not terribly prompt but they were a mite busy in fairness. A good variety of options for coffee and the expected options for milk alternatives and flavour additions. The aesthetic is slick and compelling. The outside is attention grabbing and probably its a good cafe for some coffee selfish if thats your jam.

Went there for a team meeting. Friendly helpful staff, nice ambience. I had a delicious cheese scone and the long black coffee ☕️ was great. Nice background music created a relaxing atmosphere. Will go there again 👍

One of our favourite cafes in Hamilton. Great food selection, have yummy vegan options! Kids menu was awesome for school holidays

Atmosphere is relaxing and arty. Great place for meeting friends for a coffee. Memu is bit small. Make sure to check out the art products wall.

Great food and and coffee. They recently got in Grey Roasting Co beans which is a nice change/variety. Vibes there are always very chill and wholesome. The cafe has a room at the back for the church (CBC) and its very intertwined, their origin story is amazing and it's just awesome as. Eggs benny is AMAZING and they use rosti instead of bread, so it's gluten free! One of my favourite cafes 💯 (@nzcafereviews on insta)

It's pretty good for a quick snack place. It's hard to find had to GPS it. Would still recommend.

Waited 15 minutes for our coffee. Bit too long. Good coffee though.

I've enjoyed coffee here several times over the last 6 weeks. Id suggest goong early in the day as the really yummy stuff goes quick but having said that they always have a good selection if counter food with good gluten free options. Well done to your barista... great coffee every time, well round flavour and perfect milk steaming.
Nice modern set up I not even put off by the rear seating area being a little dark as the atmosphere is good with nice kids area.
I've found most cafes prices have gone up a bit lately so prices are mostly on par with others but getting up there.

I’ve visited Cafe Agora a few times, but the most recent visit went for a breakfast date with my husband and had the breakfast taco and that had to be one of my favourite breakfasts I’ve had! Nice to see some different options for breakfast and it was just hearty and delicious! They also had holiday drinks at the time for Christmas which I loved! Prices do tend to be a little high for coffee and cabinet stuff but quality is there for sure. Love that they support the community and other worthwhile causes.

Whenever I'm in Frankton I call into Agora. They always have great coffee!! Love the fact that fluffys are free. Kids always enjoy the playroom too. Food is delicious and a good selection.

Hollandaise sauce on the Eggs Benedict was gross. Flavours on the steak sammy ($22) were okay but ruined by the TINY piece of steak (only about 4cm long) that was a terrible cut of cheap chewy meat. The best food was the curly fries. The kids playroom they market on their website is pretty lame and not worth them even mentioning. Service was unattentive. Coffee was reasonable.

Lovely cafe with an awesome concept. Staff were lovely and were personal! The food was nice too! My only flaw would be that re-heating the cabinet food via microwave isn't my ideal choice. However, I recognize that it is probably most efficient! Nicely tucked away in a less-busy area! Looking forward to coming back soon!

I have visited Cafe Agora 4 times in the space of 8 days. The first visit was good, Eggs were cooked perfect and Coffee was superb. A busy time of the day. Disappointing that there was no Raw Vegan Cheesecake, on this day.
Second visit was for takeaway Coffee. Another busy time and Coffee was perfect again. Again, no Raw Vegan Cheesecake to try.
Third visit was a late afternoon, not so busy. Pad Thai was fine, but, sadly, again, no Raw Vegan Cheesecake. Coffee perfect.
Fourth visit, midday. Gourmet Chicken Burger had a tasty coated thigh piece of chicken at an affordable price. The side of Polenta Chips were very bland. The dipping sauce was a mild wasabi which just didn't go well with the meal. My friend had a BLAT. It had to be replaced as she discovered a hair. And, no surprise on this visit that there was no Raw Vegan Cheesecake! Coffee perfect.
Overall opinion of this Cafe: Great place for Children, although not a clean play-area floor and carpet rug - any of the times I visited. The nappy changing station was very unclean. Staff were mellow and polite. A lot of tables needed to be cleaned and cleared. Food was satisfactory with good presentation, but very average. There is not enough range on the Lunch Menu - only 4 options. I'd like to try the Raw Vegan Cheesecake! Excellent coffee every single time. Will only visit again for coffee.

My wife and I went there for breakfast Friday 13th (maybe a bad choice of day, too). We both ordered scrambled eggs and I had side of bacon with mine.

This is the first time I reviewed anything.
The ciabatta was rock hard, the eggs looked as if they came from a bird above (a sparrow at that), and the bacon was charred black. In short, it would be one of the worst breckies we've had.

On the redeeming side, the coffee was really nice (flavour, temp) and the cakes and muffins looked yummy. I doubt we will be back again any time soon, but if we are it won't be for breakfast. If I could give no stars, I would.

Great little cafe in Frankton - comfortable couches and semi private areas with child safe/friendly place space set Cafe Agora above many others. Food is great, generous portions and changing menu really appreciated. Coffee is excellent and as well you are contributing to local charities monthly and supporting a compassionate programme in Thailand helping to rescue girls sold into prostitution.

Great little cafe, family friendly, lovely atmosphere. Use it often when I need to catch up with someone, or have a lunch date. Highly recommended.

I've visited this cafe on several occasions and it never fails to deliver excellent drinks and delicious food that is well-presented. There's also a great play area for kids, and plenty of space for everyone. I'd recommend this lovely cafe to anyone.
