Review House On Hood - Hamilton

Our experience at the Bottomless was incredible. Excellent company, food, drink, location, and the service was a 10/10 :) They were always available and quickly refilled our drinks, so we never had to wait or ask for refills. We still enjoyed the music even though it was not to our taste. The only negative was that we got sunburned because they had not completely covered the outside area. Apart from that, we will most definitely be back.

Staff were so lovely I highly recommend house on hood for bottomless brunch, it’s affordable, the food is good and the servers are always bringing out drinks.

Went here on Monday night and enjoyed the Monday American specials Ribs $10, loaded waffle fries $10, hamburger $5. Basic but good, so good that we went back on Tuesday night for their Taco deals, $2.50 each. Also had the Nachos and Churros. Dinner and dessert for 2 for $30 excluding drinks. Very good value.

My sister's & I have enjoyed 2 bottomless brunches at this place. The food, the atmosphere & the non stop drinks was just an amazing experience overall. Excellent customer service & staff are very attentive and quick to refill drinks once cups are empty. Will be back again!

A lovely little location with some great comfort food! We were looking for pub-style food while in Hamilton and stumbled upon this place which didn't disappoint! While the pizza we ordered was slightly undercooked it was still delicious. The curly fries were awesome and not heavily seasoned like a lot of places do! Great selection of food on the menu and convenient online ordering if, like me, you're a little shy! You need only to scan a QR code at the table! The only real downside was our first waitress was *very* quiet (we couldn't hear a word she said) and didn't seem to understand much of what we said without us pointing to items on the menu (I assume she was new?). Everyone else was super friendly and helpful! Also the chocolate mud cake was superb 🤤

Thoroughly enjoyed my experiences here, service was great, the staff were lovely and they had a great environment. Food was amazing and even more so cause of the price! 100% would recommend it as a regular place to eat out. Planning to hold an event there in the future, so couldn't be happier 😁

Yummy food as always. Their cocktails are a must with happy hour between 6-9pm. Panfried dumplings perfect. My friend got the Hawaiian burger and it was fantastic! Bao buns were okay- needed a bit more for the price we paid! Only 2 thin slices of meat, hardly any lettuce. Flavour nice though. I would not recommend the calamari as it was flavourless and tough. Their fried chicken is yum! I recommend the korean fried chicken over the original. Also had onion rings and they were so yummy!

House on Hood - never fails to provide a great, playful atmosphere with decent food at very modest prices, especially if making use of the special of the day. The staff seemed a bit erratic/disorganised at times with no real structure and a couple orders were missed/forgotten, but on the whole are generally quite friendly and happy to cater for any diner needs. I had the pork bao buns and fried chicken in Korean sticky chili sauce. The chicken was very tasty with plenty of crunch. The bao buns were underwhelming - the BBQ pork was tasty but only topped with a few sad shreds of lettuce. The buns were also far too big in comparison to the filling and lacked something extra to keep the taste-buds excited. HOH do however make an exquisite cocktail to keep the overall rating honest

Loved my meal here. We came here on a Monday night for a nice quiet but enjoyable night out with friends. Food and service were GREAT. The photos speak for themselves and the prices were so good for a restaurant in the middle of the city

Whether it be a function, girls night or dinner with the family. House provides an extensive menu and great food deals throughout the week. This was $12 dessert day ❤️ GF and vegan food options available.

This is my local! They have amazing daily deals such as Mexican Monday, cheap pizzas, buy one get one etc. for each day of the week. Service has always been really friendly and fast in my experience. It does get quite popular on the weekends though and turns into a dance floor on weekend nights. I really recommend the fried chicken tacos, the vegetarian burger, and the fishbowls.

Went here for lunch on a quiet Saturday, or tried. Staff asked us for ID to have a glass of wine with lunch; my friend didn’t have her passport with her and the staff wouldn’t accept her UK drivers license. We’re in our 30’s and thought the whole thing to be a tad ridiculous and irritating, so we cancelled the order and left. Been here for drinks before but yet to try the food consequently.

Haven’t been here a lot but the times I have come, it hasn’t disappointed! Customer service has always been friendly and welcoming and the wait for food is was minimal! Favourite on the menu would be the pulled pork burger!

Out of the blue, we went to this resto. Serves pica like food. Ordered a steak but turned out it was just the pressure cooked one (tastes like it). It was dry..not worth the price. I wasn't really happy with it. Ambiance is nice though. Structurally looks like a house. Fish and chips from the kids menu was good for one adult. The calamari was mediocre. Perhaps drinks would be fine if anyone would want to come back.

What a complete disappoint!! From many past times that we had been waiting for our meal for 1 hour and 45 mins for subpar food. Now tonight we ordered food takeaway - I got the House Fried Chicken and what the heck is this?? This is not the quantity of a starter, this is a joke!! It’s sad to say we are never coming back.

My partner and I quite often go to House for dinner on a Friday night. It’s affordable and you get a very decent meal. I love the Soft chicken tacos and calamari, and they are both always cooked very nicely. Sometimes the service is really slow, and we’ve often been left waiting for drinks etc I have also been a few times where orders have been wrong and we’ve had to wait a while for replacements etc however it is much more often a great experience!

I ordered a caeser salad against everyone elses burgers (I was with a large table of people) the table were in awe of the way my food was presented in comparison to their pub food haha<br/>It tasted as good as it looked although the serving size was a bit large!

I can't believe this place gets 5 star reviews on another website! With all the other bars closed on a Monday night "House on Hood" was the only one open which served craft beer? <br/><br/>Nice decor and trendy mural showing the brew process. but.....<br/><br/>While the last beer I tried a 666 Se7en black IPA was good, I have to thank my Waiter for that recommendation, the food really really lets the side down and was largely inedible. Charging $16 for a fish sandwich only to be served up reheated microwaved battered fish in toasted buns was simply embarrassing for the place and for me. Yes there was a salad and fries, but maybe I should have stuck to burgers. Then to deny they were microwaved, come on.... soggy batter and two thin dried out fish fillets? Course they were!! Do the owners know this is going on?<br/><br/>When I turned up and read the tap list I thought this could be good. Instead I'm writing this review because I feel robbed by the crap food that really ruined the evening. The waiter gets 5 stars for the one decent beer in the place, but House on Hood only one star. <br/><br/>You're better off going to a bottle store for the craft beer and buying McDonald's on the way home.

Unfriendly service behind the bar on arrival. We sat down with our menus, the lady came out with the water which was greatly appreciated, still very unfriendly.<br/>Waited for ages for someone to come and take our orders as the menu looked good , decided to leave and go down the road to another place ( good decision as the service was fantastic in comparison)<br/>It was the worst service I have experienced for a very long time, the lady made us feel very uncomfortable.

This establishment is beautiful and the menu looked nice so today we choose to go to lunch there.we walked in to see one lady behind the bar whom seemed more interested in filling her jug of water than talking to us.She asked us rudely if we wanted lunch and told us to sit,so we did and we waited along time without menu's before we decided to leave.<br/><br/>"never judge a book by its cover"

We went to House on Hood with a deal voucher for 4 craft beers and a platter.<br/><br/>The service was terrible. We were there at 4.00 pm on Sunday the 10th February 2013. The girl with black hair behind the counter did not want to know us. Example of the bad service was one of the glasses of beer was not filled to the top. Instead of just putting small amount of beer into the glass to fill it up she went on about the fill line, and wouldn't budge!! Most Kiwi's expect a full glass of beer. Her attitude generally left lots to be desired!<br/><br/>The platter was just deep fired stuff and was pretty poor.<br/><br/>The only good things about House is that they embrace the craft beer revolution, and they have a nice deck to sit on.<br/><br/>Won't be going back any time soon though based on my experience.

We visited house to try the pizzas on a Sunday - which are really cheap! <br/><br/>The range of beer on tap is impressive, something for everyone, and the staff were all really friendly. We sat out on the deck, which was nice in the sun, unfortunately we got a table next to a big group of heavy smokers - but that's nobodies fault.<br/><br/>The pizzas came out really fast - but I think maybe they should've spent more time in the oven. One was really not cooked enough at all, and the other was really not that tasty. <br/><br/>I would recommend House for a beer, but probably won't be going back for food.

House as it says a bar and restaurant that looks and feels like a house. Loved the decor. <br/>Sat outside on the ample deck, only thing we didn't like was the smokers out there and the smoke wafting over the food.<br/><br/>Service was good on the night. Friendly and helpful. Only down side was spilling the coffees into the saucers, not a good look.<br/><br/>Food menu was average - nothing really standout and a standard type fare.<br/>We went for a platter, with a item not available but a substitute was provided and we were informed prior to ordering.<br/>The platter was well presented..biscuits, prawns (but not crumbed, chef could have easily crumbed them as per the menu - but we were told there were no crumbs prawns but crumbing is a simple dish a kitchen hand could prepare), calamari, pate, haloumi, pizza knotted roll, small green salad, pickled capsicum, hummus, tomato chutney and balsamic oil vinegar, few slices of cold meat and 4 chicken drum sticks/wings. $34.00...impression, good but 28-30$ would be reasonable.<br/>Coffees - good but spilled into the napkin in the saucer.<br/>Overall enjoyable establishment - would I go back - Yes.. Quiet for New Years Day - Eve visit..<br/>

Had a very pleasant lunch here on a quiet Sunday. The staff were friendly, helpful but busy. The food was not cheap, but was fast and delicious. I really liked the range of beers available. Very enjoyable.

Food is not bad at all though probably a bit pricey. Service and athmosphere are both very enjoyable. <br/>Selection of craft beers is the best in town.

I've tried to eat here a few times but it has always been empty at lunchtime and there are no staff out front to greet you so I've usually just given up. I needed to book dinner for a big group so I thought House would be good because of it's size. When I went to book I had the same problem though, there were no staff to be seen anywhere. After waiting for a while the chef came out and took my booking. The food was good, and the one waitress who was working was very friendly but everything was slow. The food, our drinks, even clearing the plates took longer than it should. I recommend they get more staff on and have a front of house person because nothing is worse than walking in to a restaurant and not knowing whether you sit yourself, order at the bar or wait to be seated.

Had our Engagement Party here last year. Started off brilliantly with the Manager being so lovely they even matched some money on the bar for us... Finger Food was great and brought out at perfect times. the only thing that let them down was there was no-one to stop or keep a eye on drunk idiots coming up and interfering with our private function, to one point when I asked a guy (that was not invited) to leave he was violent and ripped my partners shirt buttons off. The Manager informed she would pay us back for the shirt as the staff did not step in to help in time but never heard anything back from them. Would go back however as has a real nice relaxed and comfy atmosphere.

I like this place quite a bit, and frequent it often. I need that selection of beer to keep me going. The food is perfectly good bar food, if on the expensive side. For the price you pay, this place is not good at high-volume times and can be irritating. Regardless, the beer selection and the friendliness of the staff make up for all of that, and I really enjoy my sunny afternoon drinking on the porch!

Had lunch there recently, pretty average food, nothing to rave over, but staff are very friendly.
