Review Baan Thai - Hamilton

Ordered the Pad Thai with chicken, great taste, fresh; also have a wide drink selection, had a nice beer to go with it. Lovely host Pimandee, relaxing music, nice atmosphere.

Can't fault service or the food. Will definitely go again

Wonderful atmosphere and a place we frequent regularly. Meals are decent portion sizes and very tasty. I had Bhan Thai Steak and really enjoyed it, my wife and in-laws had chicken meals which was a bit on the dry side. Service was excellent and very friendly. Definitely a place to visit and fill up the tummy with yummy food that is also very healthy.

Crispy Satay chicken was superb. Wow

Warm ambience and open till late so a good place to have dinner. Quick service and fresh good which is a very important thing. Table service available so you just go there and they'll come and take your order. Very sweet and kind staff. We asked for options as I am a vegetarian. They do have good options for vegetarians and do mention them your diet so they'll take care of it. My main course dish was good enough for me to take home as well. So it's good quantity. Thanks you for your warm service. I'll visit again.

This restaurant does not deserve it's current rating. The staff are pleasant and welcoming. They are also accommodating if you have dietary requirements like I do. The food is great with good portion sizes. Definitely give this place a go. I assure you it's well worth a visit for moderately priced great Thai

Reasonably good. Nice food and OK service, missing the wow factor. Food can be slow to arrive and with larger groups this could be a problem. The menu is extensive, probably too much on the menu when a lot of the items are similar. The Baan Thai specialities weren't the standout dishes I was expecting.

Always amazing. Pick up order was ready on arrival stayed hot all the way home! Food is delicious, whole family including wee ones very satisfied. Thanks for another beautiful meal Baan Thai. :D

I have tried other Thai food places in Hamilton and Baan Thai is by far the best. Very fast service, Delicouse food and always greeted with a welcoming smile. One day I ordered take away and waited in the car and they even brought it out to my car! So kind :)

The food was Amaaazing the first time then we went back 2 days later. Asked for mild instead if very hot. Takeaway. Service - got my order wrong and had to come back. Food - lots of it and the fish cakes and the spring rolls were great as usual, but the salads were flavorless. The first time had all that Thai basil and that spice if Thailand.... was completely absent the second time.... different chef maybe? We were quite disappointed. Packaging was very leaky and leaked on my car seat. We will come back again for a dine in experience because the first yime was soooo God, but oh they were doing so well until this time....

Food was ok nice enough (summer rolls were open not closed which was odd) pity we were overcharged for 1 of our meals & getting a refund wasn't easy

Really average food. My entree was cold in the middle. Too pricey for what it is. At least it has byo - for $5. Staff were friendly though..

Ordered by phone for delivery, was advised an hours time frame which I was ok with as it was a Friday night. Ended up waiting two hours until it turned up.

Food was very Nice however abit to salty. Brought starters which were options of curry puffs , spring rolls ect however tasted like brought ones from the supermarket. Very long wait for food was about an hours wait. Staff were not structured and we're all over the place forgetting to take our orders ect. When arriving they got quite impatient at the fact we didn't make a booking, and throughout our dine they continued to do this to other dinners who didn't make reservations. Very cramped in place and no space between tables.

Found a cockroach at our table. Really bad service and communication from staff. Pretty good food though so that's something. Probably wouldn't go here again..

Ate at Baan Thai on a visit to Hamilton. The restaurant was lovely and warm with a great atmosphere, pleasant background music and plenty of room between tables. The staff seated us immediately and were extremely pleasant throughout the night which we appreciated.<br/><br/>We ordered three starters, spring rolls, stuffed mushrooms and tom kha gai. All three were delicious - the unique stuffed mushrooms in particular. We asked for the tom kha gai "Thai spicy" and were not disappointed.<br/><br/>However we were quite disappointed with our mains. While the Choo chee prawns and panang gai were delicious, they didn't taste as authentic Thai as we were expecting. The yum neau (Thai beef salad) was VERY fishy tasting, it could have used far less fish sauce and more lime juice in its place. We ordered a mild in this dish and we did wonder if a medium or hot would have balanced the fishy taste. I also noted a lack of coriander (generally a staple in this dish) and asked if we could have some extra for the side but were told the kitchen had run out - quite disappointing. The pad Thai was delicious but much sweeter than usual, however despite not being traditional Thai I actually did enjoy it.<br/><br/>Overall the experience was pleasant, but the fishy mains were very disappointing. I would go here again, although next time I would order a medium rather than a mild (may hide the fish taste better) and make sure they aren't out of coriander!

My favourite restaurant in Hamilton, affordable and the food is fabulous. Meats always very tender, seafood dishes have plenty of seafood. Restaurant is clean and cosy, lovely soft Thai background music, authentic and interesting to look around.

Nice meal here at the Victoria Street branch . Restaurant nice and clean however lighting needs to be brighter as place is a little dull and dark.

This is our favorite Thai Restaurant .The meals and service are great. The menu is extensive so something for everyone. We dine here often and have never had a disappointing meal.<br/>There is never a problem to find a car park close to the restaurant.

I have just had dinner and a glass of wine. I waited patiently for an hour after I finished dinner to have my plate cleared so I could either be asked or ask about a dessert menu.... to no avail. Disappointing as the service was great until that point.

What an awesome restaurant! The meals are great and the customer service is fantastic. We have been there twice, once in October and then last week, and they remembered us! What a great place.<br/>I recommend the Thai Green Curry, the wife had this. We are mild eaters and this still had a pleasant kick

My friend and I dined there last night and found the meal small for the price. We asked the waitress fo rice or noodles came with our orders as they weren't from the rice or noodle sections. She assured us that rice came on the side. When we went to pay we were charged $3 each for rice that we only ate half of. I think the extra cost should be pointed out when ordering

I guess being the only customer at 7pm on a Saturday should have given me a clue. The food was bland and certainly not authentic Thai. Overall a very disappointing experience, the place seems lazy with the staff just going through the motions which is painfully reflected in the food. <br/>Will be giving this one a wide berth in future.

This review relates to the Baan Thai in Dining Lane, Bryce Street, Hamilton. Not the branch down the road in Victoria Street. The former is not in Menu Mania yet.<br/><br/>Food was excellent (probably five stars). Service was very good. The restaurant was new and the atmosphere very good. Will definitely go again.<br/><br/>One comment though. I had a deal voucher that excluded certain things e.g. seafood. Also the voucher only allowed for "House" wine and beer. They were aware that we had this voucher. We didn't read the fine print and ordered a seafood dish and non house drinks that I had to pay for at the end. Now I take FULL responsibility for this and did so when paying (without fuss). However, I think the restaurant has some moral obligation to remind the consumer if they are not keeping in the terms and conditions of the voucher. The did not do this, and a cynical view would be the reaped the financial reward as a result. What do you think?

I dined in last year end and I promised myself that I would never go there again. There was no other customers first of all at 6 pm in the evening except me and my friends and two Asian ladies were playing cards in the next table. I am very sure that no customers would play cards and it was sooo disrespectful for us. There was a man in the counter running to them like a servant when they screamed out his name many a time across the hallway...then other customers started to come in but still they did not have their bottoms up for quite some time..even though they are owning the restaurant the behavior of those two old Asian ladies ws quite disrespectful to the customers and rude to the employee as well....

We dined here on a Saturday night with friends who love Thai food. We are not great fans of Thai food, but the meal was nice.<br/>The service was friendly, courteous and helpful.<br/>Prices were OK. Decor was very nice, and the restaurant was full.<br/>We had booked on-line a few days before, but for some reason the booking had not been received - they need to correct this as we would have been disappointed if we had turned up without ringing to confirm the booking to find no available tables.

Horrible service, kept waiting for an hour. When we tried to notify one member of staff we were ignored. This same staff member later rolled her eyes at us when we asked for more water. food is also relatively bland. Avoid this place at all costs.

A very disappointing experience. We got really poor customer service. My husband and I went here for dinner a few weeks ago. We ordered a main meal each and rice for 2. My husband's meal and both bowls of rice were served. After sitting waiting 5-10 minutes expecting mine to arrive we asked where it was. They had not even started to cook it saying it had been missed - no apology. My husband finished his meal and we went to pay. You can imagine how surprised we were to discover we were charged for the second bowl of uneaten rice to go with the meal I did not get. When we suggested we should not have been charged we were told, by the lady who told us it was her restaurant, that the rice was served. I could only agree with that but our night out was completely spoiled. It could have been so much better if the mistake had been dealt with with customer in mind. After we had paid the bill the owner did offer to refund rice. A case of too little too late.<br/><br/>This is not a restaurant we will be going back to any time soon.

My husband and I ate here recently. The food was delicious and the portion sizes generous. One thing I hated though was that the restaurant was empty and the 3 couples inside were all seated together along the front windows (I'm guessing to give the restaurant an appearance of being full from the road)....I could hear every word the other diners were saying as I'm sure they could hear our conversation. There was more than ample space inside the restaurant to allow us all some privacy to enjoy our night out. I also thought it was really rude the way a staff member came out (during dinner service) and climbed up on top of a neighbouring table and proceeded to change lightbulbs.....surely this could have been done prior to opening! Hardly urgent.

I simply love this place, Wanda and the staff are wonderful and the food is delicious!!
