Review Regal Chinese Restaurant - Hamilton

First time trying dim sum in Hamilton, and it was okay! The sticky lotus rice was basically just sticky rice, barely any filling and colour. The prawn toast and deep fried pork dumpling was good

Came here for dinner, didn't order dim sum but I heard its good. Sizzling beef is something my husband always gets excited about! But yea, yummy dishes but isn't my go to tai chow chinese restaurant They charge tea and rice per head of 2 bucks each... which I think is a lil expensive tbh!

Yum Cha - the authentic Canton cuisine. Another great discovery. My wife had a short conference at Hamilton, and we decided to have a date. It has been a long time since I brought her for a good authentic Chinese cuisin, and both of us loved Dim Sum (点心) a touch of heart and I want to touch her heart through her mouth. I explored the night before and found this place Regal Chinese Restaurant (富豪- literally means rich man) to Yum Cha (饮茶 - drink tea) Of course, we need delicious Dim Sum to go with the tea. The reviews were not outstanding, but when we were welcomed by friendly waitresses and the ambience was very Cheena, we felt at home right away. In fact, the very success of a Chinese restaurant is to have a good chef. And I found out that he is from Canton. Canton cuisine is, to me, one of the most meticulous and uncompromising cuisines. That's why it is so delicious. The menu has so many items and we picked a few that we both like. E.g. Phoenix Crawl, (百合酱凤爪) Siew Mai, (烧卖) Chee Cheong Fun or Fun Cheong,(鲜虾肠粉) Salted Water Dumplings, (咸水角) and Lo Mai Gai (瑶柱糯米鸡) Our favourite of the day is really the Chee Cheong Fun or Fun Cheong,(鲜虾肠粉) and Siew Mai, (烧卖). The Fun Cheong is wrap with a steamed skin, soft and flavourful sauce. But when we took the first bite... my goodness, there is another layer of skin with is deep fried and crispy. Amazing skin within a skin. What a gastronomical pleasure when the softness and crunch mixed in union, it is unprecedented! Then when I took my first bite at the the Siew Mai, my literal expression is... woah! The Prawn is very fresh and the Pork is tender. A wonderful Q feeling when chewing the Siew Mai. This is definitely a destination for my family, friends, and for anyone who will visit us in NZ. They know who they are.

Amazing Service from the staff, he offered us a tea when we got seated. Great food and will definitely come back to try other dishes.

i had staff dinner here today and we loved it. flavour is decent, and each portion is enough to share for 7 people. we ordered 8 dishes for 7 people and it was enough for all of us. they have main branch in Rotorua, and it is also a must try chinese restaurant well done

Excellent service and highly recommended! Called to order before opening time, speak politely and took my order. When i arrived, i asked to pay for a takeaway chinese tea to go with my dim sum, the lady gave a big cup of tea for free and said, "you got to enjoy your dim sum with the tea, no charge". Taste of the chicken feet and bbq bun is almost best in town! Will come back!

Probably the best dim sum/yum char in Hamilton. Most of the dishes are well above average in quality. Pricing seems reasonable. Service is relatively quick. Has become quite popular since they've started operating in Hamilton. While not the best you will have, it's quite good for Hamilton standards.

Best Chinese restaurant in Hamilton. Just opened recently and place is already packed on peak hours. Delicious food and heaps of small orders to choose from. Plenty of staff around so queue times are usually short, and food carts cut the wait times as well. Highly recommended

We visited this place last week and it was absolutely lovely experience, I came with my friends from China, delicious food and good service👌👌👌 but today, OMG, it was so dissatisfied and absolutely not polite, the lady tried to sell me more than I wanted and ordered, I don't like so pushing service but it's all right.... I've asked to change one Yam Cha side, just to replace prawns on the Tofu, because I ordered tosts but I've confused a bit and asked to change it, I just didn't know exactly what was the meal is and was shy to ask, because the waiter wasn't friendly enough... The side wasn't touched and I expected that it can be changed with no any problems, but it wasn't, It would take only a couple of minutes to change this small thing, I didn't ask something incredible, only that... Hope they will improve their approach to the customers, because food actually is very good here👍 P. S. I was here not first time and before we always had an excellent service when I came with my friends from China... And this time I was in so good mood and wanted to enjoy my visit but I've confused a bit...I only asked to replace bread and tofy, I know exactly that it is not hard at all,it doesn't cost much for the restaurant... you guys could use the same prawns and put in on the Tofu instead bread, I expected kind attitude but didn't get it... so we didn't touch any food and just left because your service hurted me and I apologise that I didn't pay but nothing was touched and I would like to remind you, that when I came before order and during service the waiter tried to sell me more and more, i accepted that as a rather rude behaviour.. And I was sure that you appreciate your customers much more... Sorry about that anyway, but I hope I explained everything, my actions was caused only by your attitude. It is sad for me to see that a restaurant with so delicious food can't provide the best service.

The best Yum Cha in Hamilton, I did try several yum cha restaurants, but no restaurant like this good,quality food ,authentic taste and the price is much as food. Definitely back when I'm here.

Food are amazing, unfortunately they run out of the bbq pork bun

This restaurant changed my life, a boy named stanley cao walked in and personally served my table, amazing service and food. Love the siu mai and the sweet and sour pork and fried squid. 10/10 would come again.

Excellent food. Best yum cha style restaurant I've been to. Could do with some upgrading in terms of decor especially the self serve cutlery and sauce station. Having 'stuff on the end of dish titles is a bit of a giggle

Food was delicious especially their salted egg custard bao! Perfectly done! 4 star for the lack of service and even though it was self service for utensils and cutleries, they didn't have any on the shelves and had to ask for them multiple times. Thus the first round of food was cold by the time we got our plates etc. Other than service food was excellent and not ridiculous Auckland prices!

I enjoyed my experience at the Regal Chinese Restaurant - well priced, quiet and quick service. Booth seating was cool. Only downside is it was a bit cold in the restaurant, and they forgot about a portion of rice we ordered - however we ended up not needing it as we also got sticky rice. Overall, great yum cha in Hamilton and lovely staff ☺️

Idiot on the phone did not know the takeaway menu, even when i went to show him - still tried to sell me something else. Mucked up other items and then said there would be a big delay as i had to hang the phone up & go see him in person. Absolutely shocking!!

Food was delicious! Two of us ordered 6 different dishes and it cost us $60. Great tasting food with decent size for the price. Will definitely return.

I'm Asian and I eat and cook Chinese food a lot. It's the only legit Chinese restaurant in hamilton, especially for yum cha. I either eat here or I go to Auckland for my Chinese fix, it's that simple.

this review is overdue. went to regal for christmas dinner with my friends and it changed my life. i like to keep my expectations low because, you know, life. but this restaurant did not disappoint. we ordered mapo tofu (obviously, it's a classic! so you can't go wrong with it. my fei zai of a friend orders it every time), singaporean fried rice (friend's recommendation that i wasn't on board with, at first, and then it became my fav dish ever) and fried eggplant (oh! my! god! it was so f good. you HAVE to try it else you're missing out big time). I got chocolate walnut buns to-go since i was stuffed. it was just the right amount of sweet and the walnut (game changer) gave it a crunch, what more can you ask for? <br/>the service was fast and friendly. loved sitting in the booth. it turned out to be an amazing evening. thank you regal, will be back
