Review Bull & Bear - Hamilton

Absolute perfection. Best fried chicken I’ve had. Simple, elegant and full of flavour. The kumara mash is heaven on a plate. A perfect balance of sweet and savoury presented as a volcano. To complement I ordered the shittake and greens. Again no fault. All perfectly cooked and served with nuts to add texture. The service was fantastic. The staff was welcoming and extremely efficient. I didn’t know much about this place and, from the name, I was expecting pub food. What a surprise. Fine dining style in a very comfortable setting and fair prices. As the saying goes, never judge the book by its cover.

The food here was absolutely lovely and the service was friendly and prompt. The "stock market" element of it didn't work exactly how I thought it would, the items on the board didn't change very often and the discounts were only a couple of dollars. A lovely place to eat even without that though

We were searching for a dinner place for our last night and Bull & Bear nailed it! The concept is very cool and we were able to take advantages of several of the fun deals. The atmosphere and decor was excellent. We had the twice fried chips to start which were yum. The drinks were yum- especially the "who is driving". The the salmon market fish crudo we loved so much we got it twice! Yummy sauce and wasabi guac! The flavor mixing with the harissa and fried chicken was tasty. We got the seafood linguini, the sirlon and the venison.. each delightful. The linguini spicy was a great addition. We were stuffed but ordered the caramel popcorn cheesecake and the flavors together were so surprising and absolutely tasty. Anik and the server were very helpful and attentive. We really enjoyed talking with Anik and learning about the talented team and chef behind our experience. Everything hit so well and offered a fun sharing of small and large plates.

Came to try something different in the Hamilton strip and I was really impressed by how great the food was. Despite the menu saying Share Plates, they are just standard sizes. The T-bone was superb and the chicken breast was very juicy. Stand out was the seafood stew, it really hits you with a lot of flavour. Definitely will visit again.

I have been here twice. The first time with friends and the next time with family. If you are taking small kids I would recommend not waiting too long to order their food, but the fun of this place is waiting for the specials to pop up to see if they are what you want to eat from the menu. I usually have 3-4 items I like so the specials often make the decision for me. They have drink specials as well on occasion and desserts. The dessert specials are excellent if you can’t decide and honestly the desserts are probably where I struggle to pick! So you can get a few to share. This is not a quick in and out restaurant if you are there to play the market but it’s a bit of fun and the food is all good. They know how to cook a steak. And the short ribs are excellent too.

Impressive experience tonight at Bull & Bear for dinner. My awesome kids and myself last minute plans worked out perfect, as other options kitchen closed 8.30pm. Recommended this place by a staff member at one of those options- discovered this little gem! Delicious food accompanied by excellent service with a (cheeky) smile. Quentin the waiter is so cool, he made us feel comfortable, gave us a giggle, basically a night to remember.

Wow, what a great restaurant. 5 stars for service, 5 for atmosphere and definitely 5 for the food. We had the Sharing Platter. All the elements were superbly cooked and absolutely delicious. The service was on point (helpful and friendly), and the decor modern and stylish. Drinks menu fabulous too. Value for money. Would definitely go back. And take others next time.

Hands down the most fun we have had while dining out. The wall street theme was great, with awesome music and the rolling specials popping up every 5-10mins made it so unique and exciting. Great service and the occasional table-side deal was was a treat. The cocktails were all excellent and the food was great, especially the Bombay chicken. Definitely will be returning more than once.
