Wow what an amazing dining experience. ���This place offers something quite different to your average meal out. Amazing friendly service from both the waitress and the authentic international head chef. Between the two of them they visited often and really put on top level service and made the whole meal like an experience not just a meal. Between them they explained the dishes in detail. But hang on what about.... THE MEAL... wow the main was amazing and just so tasty I felt like I could have eaten 3 of them. Dumplings wow dumplings so tasty. And great value for money too! After dinner my partner was surprised by a “on the house” dessert on a plate with happy birthday written over a black plate in white chocolate, included also of course was a lit candle. This place is famous for its desserts!!!!!! You get to try a range of unique flavours across intricately made little parcels. This is THE PLACE TO GO in Hanmer Springs. You will absolutely love it. A must do. We won’t be going anywhere else from now on. A huge thank you to the chef and waitress who so kindly made our evening very special.
Great meal with great chef. Russian dumplings was delicious, definitely will recommend to visit this place, and would say it’s realy hard to find place like this in New Zealand . Thanks guys 🙌🏻👍
Amazing meal and service, couldnt fault it at all and the food was amazing...... made my birthday a wonderful experience and the chef even came out to talk about the meal and make sure we were happy..... this will definately become our go to place for food, my Spinach and Feta Ravioli was mouthwatering the the dessert was spectacular...... absolutely divine!!! :D
I concur with the previous diner's comments... Easily the tastiest dinner I have ever eaten. I had the Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli... So delicate and full of flavour. The dessert platter was exquisite in flavours and presentation. Thank you Mirek for sharing your passion for food with us and taking the time to talk with us. We will be back.
Absolutely stunning. I have never eaten such delicious, beautifully presented food. The staff are so friendly. MK Restaurant is everything you might want and need for a perfect dinner. I would thoroughly recommend.
I have been coming to Hanmer Springs every year since 2013. The meal I had here tonight was the best meal I have ever had in Hanmer Springs. In fact, the best meal I have had for a long time.
I will now eat no where else on my visits.
Wow, wow, wow!!! The food, ambience, staff and chef made this a wonderful dining experience to remember. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back.
Superb, beautifully prepared and presented food. The chef and staff are so friendly and give a personal service. The vegetarian options are so beautifully seasoned and deliciously tasty!
The desserts are divine, a perfectly balanced explosion of taste!

Had been told so many amazing things about this place, so booked in advance to make sure we didnt miss out. So glad we didnt! The food is art on a plate. Absolutely delicious, full of flavour and looks INCREDIBLE. Would 100% recommend to anyone visiting Hanmer. The dessert is next level and the service was impeccable. Thank you for having us, we'll definitely be back!

The chef/owner takes time to explain his creations, and that makes all the difference.
It just made it hard to choose. We will be back until we've tried every dish, then we'll go round again.

What a find. Absolutely fabulous food and all so fresh! Don't let the words dumplings put you off. A wonderful cross of European/ Asian fusion. More European than Asian. The presentation was amazing as well. Picture perfect., a story in itself. This delightful restaurant only deserved the highest ranking.go see for yourself. Service was excellent too.
My partner and I had never had dumplings before, and we are so glad we came here to try them for the first time! Fantastic atmosphere, staff were really happy and helpful and to top it off dessert not only looked like a work of art, it tasted amazing aswell!
I researched restaurants in Hanmer on Trip Advisor prior to booking and this restaurant turned back the best results by far. So I had to see if the reviews and accompanying pictures met expectations and boy did they exceed! Not only was the food full of delicately and thoughtfully blended combinations but it was art on a plate. The owner is genuinely passionate about his craft and took his time to explain every element. We were the last couple left in the restaurant and he put the closed sign up and then brought us out an extra experimental dessert to try, and some beautiful port to enjoy with it - on the house! Such an interesting man who creates a journey with his food. My partner said it was the best dining experience of her life. I'm sorry we never asked his name because we will talk about this night for years to come. A true goldmine of restaurants.
This is easily one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in. The meal was a fusion plate of Eastern European and Japanese and it was balanced exceptionally well. Nothing tasted the way I expected and everything was beyond what I could have thought was possible. Even dessert was an experience.
The best restaurant in town! It's a must try in Hanmer Spring. Their menus are already set. There is no need to order an appetizer. Everything is already included in one plate.
I am from Poland - the homeland of dumplings (pierogies). I have eaten and made many dumplings in my life. I have to admit these are amazing! The owners are lovely - they explain everything and make you feel like home. Be sure to book a table while in Hanmer Springs 🙃
For a couple if you don't have huge appetites share a main but a dessert each is a must - it was truly exemplary for a fine dining establishment in a bustling city - and somehow it is in the tiny town of hanmer. Don't sleep on this. Dessert for dinner every night.
This is my favourite restaurant in NZ! The food is amazing, the atmosphere is brilliant and its beautifully stunning food is to die for❤️
Absolutely amazing food and THE BEST hosts. 1000/10 we will be coming back! My girls and I had such a great night here. We ordered almost everything on the menu to share and desserts too. Could not believe how fantastic everything was.
Love love love this place! From the moment we walked in we received the warmest, friendliest service, the food was amazing and even though the waiter was busy he made time to share his opinion on the best dumplings at my hubby's request. Food was sooo good, so much flavour but not too much and a delicious glass of well priced wine to go with.
Don't miss dessert!!!!

Visited MK on the recommendation of the Hanmer Springs hairdresser. Oh my goodness we were blown away with the outstanding meals and amazing personal service. A simple to understand menu and exquisite presentation topped off the incredible flavours in both of our meals. The dessert was particularly spectacular!

We loved it! Great food, the cheese, bacon and onion pierogis were bloomin’ amazing. The choice of wines that are all the same price were great - choices from Spain and Italy as well as Aussie and NZ.
The owner is a character and is great to have a chat to. This place is a great restaurant and we will definitely be back next time we are in Hanmer.
This restaurant is in a league of its own . The owner/chef is a charming host clearly passionate about his food & pleasing his customers. The food is creative & every mouthful sensational. You feast first with your eyes as each course is presented, then your tastebuds sing & dance with each mouthful. Better than 5-star - the Hanmer locals are so lucky.
