Good call to be open for all the World Cup rugby matches! We came down for a game & it was humming! Special menu with delicious of options & hot drinks & beer available. Due to busyness only takeaway cups offered and one size which was a slight negative but service was great for how busy it was!

We have eaten here before in the past, and its always been great. So chose to here dinner here on a Saturday night and once again had the MBBH Steaks. Hubbie had the 300g Ribeye (medium) and I had the 250g Porterhouse (medium rare). Hubbie's steak was full of gristle, and the majority of his was uneatable, however mine was perfect. So a big contrast there with the steaks. They were very apologetic, and gave hubbie a free desert. So the meal was a wee bit disappointing. However on a brighter note, the service was excellent and the deserts, great.

Came to Monteiths Hanmer for Sunday lunch. Now I saw some not so great reviews, but I like to formulate my own opinions before passing judgement. My experience was fantastic, staff were fantastic, attentive and pleasant. Even apologized for a wait on food that was well within acceptable levels. The food was solid, great plate of fish and chips. Well cooked fish, well cooked fries. I would recommend giving this place a shot if you're in Hanmer. I know I'd would come back here.

Had a wonderful dinner here. There was a live musician playing who was very entertaining playing all the old classics like "the gambler." We chose a seafood platter which was simply superb. Great Flavours, only the cod was battered, scallops and prawns tasted awesome. Definitely big enought to feed 3 happily. One down side was a glass was broken on the floor and cleaned in too much of a rush. we could still see shards on glass which should have been vacuumed. Would recommend going and will come again for the seafood platter

Went here for a few ales. The hazy pale ale was excellent. Outdoor seating was comfortable and good for groups. The entertainer was okay he didn't seem that thrilled to be working but the tunes were good.

We came here twice on our trip. Had the lunch specials that go right up till 5pm which was great because we were there about 4pm one day and it's that annoying time where most places stop serving food at 3pm. Not here though! Staff were friendly, it was nice and warm inside - you could sit where you wanted. Meals were served hot, were huge and delicious! Garlic bread was bloody good, second time we tried it with the cheese dip - do yourself a favour and get it. Only downside is that you wanted more of it haha. Really recommend Monteith's! They were also child friendly - we didn't have any but saw kids there having a great time. I had the fried chicken both times which was delicious and came with a side salad (was huge & great value for $19), husband had ribs the first time and blue cod fish & chips the second - I sampled both and they were really good!

Ok. Nice variety of schnitzel and regular pub food. Good range of Monteith's and other drinks. Our steak was a little disappointing but what one should expect for the price.

Let’s start by saying make sure you book a table in Hanmer Springs, 4 to 5 of the Restaurants were double booked on Saturday night. Also it was a very busy night in the town. We were very lucky the bar had good staff and gave us a number and a drink and called us when a table was free, great work team. Good choice of drinks, ran out of Mulled Wine, but I do not think they expected the hit they got, but was a crowd fav. Menu was extensive and lots of yummy choices. Entree Prawn and scallops entree - the sauce was delicious, Prawns slightly over cooked. Chicken wings, they come out crumbed which surprised me, salad underneath was yummy. But as Manu always says where is the sauce. Would of done with a good blue cheese sauce or a choice of spicy BBQ. Mains Chicken Chimichurri - where was the Chimichurri? Chicken was dry, but still ok, come with some patties on the side, not sure the purpose or flavor. Dish looked fantastic but missed the brief. Texas Schnitzel - was very nice, a nice spice level, Looked great Rib Steak - cooked to perfection 11 out of 10. All was very perfect. Overall good service on a busy night.

Nice place to eat, staff were very helpful, polite and friendly. Playlist of background music was a highlight. Chowder was very good with prawns and a big scallop. I can never understand why the shell is left on a chowder prawn but it is fairly universal…Good value chowder none the less. The lamb salad was sadly a bit of a let down despite being very nicely presented. Chewy lamb to the point that it was left. Overall would dine here again but would avoid the lamb salad. $120 for 2 adults and 2 children.

This was close to a 4 star only because the bacon well well over cooked, I don't mind a little crispy but it was crunchy to the point every fork stab created 8 different shards of bacon ): But it was tasty and the service was very good from all the girls that served us and the food prep was VERY fast.

People's I believe reviews have to be balanced & are a snapshot of one's own, personal experience. Had a dinner in a warm, friendly atmosphere especially enjoying the singing & guitar entertainment. Started with a really nice, delicious mulled wine. My better half had a really nice, flavoured chicken chimuchirri dish with a generous sized extra seving of fresh vegetables. However I had a very creamy fettucine pasta dish that was very bland in flavour & was really disappointing. Well worth a visit for lunch or dinner. Steve Franklin Rotorua

We went during covid-19 level two. Which meant there were strict rules in affect. The staff were abiding by them, and it didn't negativity impact their service at all. We had a couple of tasty cocktails, and a few fried goodies and breads and dips. Food was affordable and was what you'd expect for a bar. Nice place to sit and soak up the sun.
