Excellent service. The waiter could not have been more helpful. Tasty food without being too spicy. Best cheese and garlic naan bread I have ever eaten. The sizzling mixed platter was fantastic. Maybe the butter chicken was a little bit too sweet, but everything else was perfect. The music was authentic and quiet, adding to the ambiance. Go to the Star of India, you won't be disappointed!

The food was delicious; chicken korma, lamb biriyani, samosas, and onion bhaji 😋 The young fella was so good at serving me and my partner and even taking a phone order without making us feel like we weren't receiving adequate customer service, which I feel is so easy to do during the dinner rush!

Was looking for some dinner last night and I found this place...I haven't had Indian food for awhile..so I brought me some...very lovely and not too hot with spice...very quick service...

We always feel welcome and the food is by far amongst the best in Hawkes Bay! Just wish the restaurant had a little more background music for atmospheric pleasure. Thanks team! Always a joy to spoil ourselves and indulge in your devine cuisine.

Ordered Lamb Korma, Butter Chicken with a plain naan. Both meats were tender, not even requiring a knife to cut through pieces. And both dishes were delicious. For the price you pay, quality is definitely worth it.

Really good takeaways. Food quality and taste is excellent. Good and timely service. Definitely our go to in Hawke's bay for Indian food.

Food is excellent all around. As of 2022 they did something and now have the best naan bread I have ever had, it wasn't this good in 2021. It's honestly so good and a seriously legit portion size.

Ordered our meal and was waiting in our car and the lovely lady brought it to us. Meal was ready within the time advised and was simply delish. Flavour is amaizing and garlic naan was soft and fresh.

Amazing service and delicious food. I Iove their mango chicken and mango lassi with cheesy garlic naan I just can't get enough. All of their curries have a thicker consistency with more meat compared to other indian shops. I absolutely love it.

Amazing! The most authentic Indian we've ever had.. fragrant, tender meat and good naan bread. The service was quick and a very polite waitress.. highly recommended.

We got a standard butter chicken to take away with garlic naan. Didn't order rice (as we don't usually eat it) but it came free with the meal anyway which was a bonus! Butter chicken was amazing, the chicken was tender and generously portioned. Would highly recommend!

Was visiting Hawkes Bay over the week just been and came across this place. Ordered the tikka masala and was blown away by the quality set in front of me. This place is run by amazing people with even better food.

We visit regularly and yet again this evening we have had as we always do a consistently good meal. We often go for lunch and have never been disappointed. Great service as well. The food is very tasty, service can't be faulted and it is always clean.

The owners and staff are really lovely people and very friendly every time we go in. It's very good value and super yummy curry, best butter chicken ever!!!!!! My kids love it. Must try!!!!!!!! I would give this restaurant four stars if they used breast meat instead of thigh (which I hate) in their chicken dishes. The sauces are excellent. Very quiet on our visit, so restaurant lacked ambiance, but food and service very good.

Star of India is my favourite take away and restaurant in Hastings! Great service, delicious food, fast and value for money! I love their $10 lunch deal. I am a regular customer and would not hesitate to recommend Star of India to anyone!

Second time we have been to the Star of India in the last month. Both times the food and service has been absolutely great. The staff are extremely friendly, attentive and helpful. The restaurant is not very large but very clean and cosy. The meals have always been very tasty and the servings are large enough to walk away satisfied. Prices are good and overall the experience was great. Parking never a problem with a large parking area and we will definitely become regulars.

Had been going to The Star of India for takeaways for quite some time. Decided to try the restaurant. Absolutely fantastic decision. Went there this week with family for my birthday. Very prompt, friendly and efficient service. Food came out in good amount of time. Food absolutely fantastic. Great to have fantastic service from variety of staff. Also great to meet the chef who came out to see if we were enjoying our meal. Have not had this for quite some time, so was a nice surprise to meet him and see he was definitely interested to see if we enjoyed our meal. Prices really great. Excellent value for money. Would highly recommend anyone wanting great, authentic Indian food.

In my opinion this is the Best Curry in Hawkes Bay, reasonably priced,good servings and friendly staff, If you are a curry fan you will never go anywhere else! The restaurant has recently been added to the existing takeaway and has ample parking, It has a liquor license or bring your own.

This is a small restaurant run very well and well presented with excellent food and service. We had a reasonable group of 14 which was catered for very well with great interaction from the staff making it a very enjoable evening
