Review Golden Spring Restaurant - Hastings

Nice decor. Pretty modern and equivalent to restaurants in a big city in China. We didn't eat from the buffet but there was a steady stream of people who did, and this was on a Monday evening. We had the eggplant which was delicious, and the lamb stew with rice. Tasted just as I expected. The clay pots kept every thing really hot.

The food is lovely, second time we have been, but it is not hot ,we dined in both times and the beautiful food is just warm. Takeaway next time and warm it at home .

This place is good, legit, with good food, people are nice, I fed myself up spending only $14 that’s ALL YOU CAN EAT... buffet, very good value you can find in Hastings. Not leaving reviews often but it seemed unfair that many people said there’s no flavor In the dishes. I would recommend you to go and try them out, won’t cost you much and you can find out yourself.

Kids loved it and I left regretting I had piled my plate so high but couldn't just stop eating. was it mass produced ...yep, was it nice, yep! Decor is a little dated and its not what you'd call fine dining but is what you'd call good food at a wicked cheap price

Very great food. Smorgasbord option as well as order what you want. Can be busy depending on what time you are there.

A good variety of dishes that they kept stocked up even though it was getting late at night. Reasonable prices.

No classy decoration, simply nice food, they can easily wrap their food in a better plate and charge more. Good to see that it's actually quite affordable.

This place is off the hook. I've been going there for ruffly twenty years now and it's still the best value for money. I highly recommend it especially if you have the munchies.... wink wink

Ordered sweet and sour pork and ginger beef. Both were well cooked and generous on meat. Look forward to trying some otger dishes.

@golden spring hastings : This has been one of our regular 'go to' friday night meals. We always order off the menu as there is an awesome chef out the back! On going in last night we were offered one menu to share between 2 of us, the reason was they are updating the menu, and only one is done. The 'updated' version is strips of paper glued down the price column with new, hand written prices. (about a $5 increase) The menus are old, tatty and grubby looking. Why not just print some new menus off the computer and put in clear file folders until new ones are made....surely. This experience felt demeaning, and certainly wasn't customer friendly :( we left before ordering....come on guys, step up the service!

Tried the buffet here and was disappointed. Food was cold and rice was undercooked. This ruined my experience here.
Lemon chicken was the best gravy for the buffet.

Went into golden springs expecting good things, how I was disappointed. The service to be fair was good and the waiter was obliging to say the least, not to mention we had to leave because my kids decided to have a temper tantrum. But that does not excuse the tripe ( not to disrespect tripe) that was served up once I opened up the Take away box. Burnt to a crisp pretty much sums this meal ( I use this term "meal" loosely) because it was cremated. I ordered the duck which has been deep fried and forgotten about and my wife the "special" again deep fried.

So if you want deep fried food burnt beyond all recognition for $65 go here if not Mc donalds is across the street

Very disgusting! This so called "Restaurant" was the most horrible food I have ever had in my life! along with 10 others we could not touch our meals after the first spoonful. save your time and money and never eat here as you will be very disappointed and maybe even get sick.... SLACK SERVICE, DISGUSTING FOOD!!
