Review Maina - Havelock North

Stopped in here for breaky while in Hastings for funeral. Was recommended by a very nice police officer in Hastings city. Any how this is a must visit. I had the Great Harvest breaky but had big eyes for the pancakes and the eggs benny. Any how was really pleased with the Great Harvest and my it was a Harvest. Eggs cooked to your liking. Bacon cooked with crispy edges, cream mushrooms and spinach just to please my doctor and 2 x home made hash browns all topped off with... drum rolll fried toast. Yes fried in butter on a pan just like we use to do as kids. Before such things gave you heart attacks. If your frm outa town ya gotta go here. Dont miss out. Staff super friendly nice friendly Hawkes Bay feel oh and the coffee is great. Sit next to the fire if its cold.

Really exceptional dining. We made an extra effort to inform the chefs as we were so impressed. My partner said it was the best big breakfast he's ever had!

Another awesome find. Cute spot, easy to get to, friendly staff and wow food. The harvest breakfast is a huge portion of eggs bacon sausage toast spinach tomato mushrooms….. so tasty and seasoned perfectly. Coffee is delicious. Outdoor and indoor seating. Great ambiance.

Delicious lunch! The pancakes were to die for, and the brisket sandwich was huge and amazing. Service was great and lovely vibe.

Awesome little cafe. Staff were friendly and helpful, set up was nice and really chill. Food was awesome with big selection value for money. I got the chicken salad and was so big and yum.

Every meal ordered was pure taste and quality. Excellent value, great service and a warm inviting friendly atmosphere. Our first visit, but definitely not the last. Can't wait to go back next time we're in town. You will enjoy!

This place was off the hook amazing!!!! Great staff,fast service,beautiful coffee and a big delicious portion of food.Had the warm Thai salad and it was amazing ,even had to ask for a takeaway box 😂.Also had The all day breakfast that was huge and the best I've seen by far.Our new favorite spot🥰.This place was warm and inviting.It was pretty packed with people, but I can absolutely appreciate why!!! 5/5

Amazing. If you can get a seat I HIGHLY recommend this cafe. My group all got very different options and we were amazed by the quality of all. The chowder was delicious with huge prawns and scallops, the pork was crispy and not too fatty, the karaage chicken burger was just amazing, and the waffle fries were crisp and fluffy. If you are in Havelock or are a local, this place cannot be beat.

Excellent food with even better coffee. My long black was excellent, rich and great flavour. My scallops and salad were also excellent.

Lovely bagel breakfast and a Reboot Smoothie. Staff were frantically busy and still did a fantastic job. Recommended!

The food here was absolutely fantastic, and it literally lit up our day! All the food we ordered had huge portions with reasonable price. The seafood chowder was very fresh, and the salmon pizza was really creamy and satisfying. Coffee was good as well. Lots of surprises, actually quite busy during the weekend. Highly recommend!

Such a relaxed and cozy place to catch up friends. The fire adds to the appeal. Great range of gluten free options. The corn fritters were lovely, nice chutney, salad and sour cream 😋. The service was friendly but not intrusive.

Great menu with a range of prices depending on your budget, lots of amazing main options, so difficult to choose! We ordered the pork belly, butter-poached lamb, and the tandori chicken salad with a side of fries. All really delicious, good serving sizes, especially the fries, we were definitely full! Excellent and friendly service/staff, and good speed getting our meals. We would visit again when in the area next 😊

The food was so tasty! Beyond our expectations, we didn't have to wait long at all even though it was busy. The service is 5 star. We felt very welcome. Definitely on my list to come back to when in Hawkes Bay. Loved it , & to top it off menu prices are very reasonable. Kia ora

Great breakfast menu, the pancakes are the best! Other options are also delicious, some of them may be shared between 2 people. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice decoration as well.

Good wine and great food, nice spot with really good service. I had the pork belly and it was melt in your mouth. The cracking was cooked perfectly too, I couldn't really ask for much more. I found dinner was a little nicer than Lunch as I have eaten here for lunch previously.

Had the most delicious salmon salad here. Had to wait a while for a table but was worth the wait and obviously a busy place for a reason. Hard to chose just 1 item from the menu!

Hot smoked salmon nicoise salad was delicious with generous amount of salmon. The soft boiled egg was also cooked perfectly with the right amount of runniness. I liked that the sauce was drizzled over the salad but a big portion of it was on the side so you can adjust how much sauce your salad has.

I love everything about this restaurant. Top service amazing food, tried breakfast and dinner both experience was superb. All breakfast dishes I really like. The worst feeling is when I came in the morning and all smell so so good. You want to order everythinggg in the cabinet. I even brought their cheese scone and pastry back to Auckland. Their cheese scone was the best I ever tried!!! Thank youuu Maina for producing amazing food :) and yes it was recommended by my bosses boss, thanks to himmm

They do open on Sunday! (Eventhough google or zomato says not :) Had great brunch last weekend, I loved the prawn and scallop linguini. My partner had seafood chowder that he enjoyed too, but he's spoon was constantly digging into the broth from my plate! Prawn linguini was perfect dish to warm me up during cold and wet day. Liked the iced mocha too =)

Lovely lunch a couple of weeks ago in the beautiful Hawkes bay sun! Had an awesome experience, amazing food and lots of it! Really good price too, and fantastic environment with young and friendly staff. All and all really enjoyed my experience 👍🏻

Lunched here today, thankfully we arrived before the mad Saturday rush, and secured a table. Coffee was amazing! Lunch was great also. Warm inside. Friendly waitstaff. I'll defiantly return.

Been here 3 times now. A consistent experience each time. Good coffee. Good cabinet food and menu options. Can see why this place is so popular.

Lovely outdoor dining area, perfect place to relax on a warm evening. Portion sizes are large and all meals were delicious. The service was also great, and even though we turned up after the others in our party had ordered, they brought all meals out together.

Cheerful and positive service from our waitress, and a good menu choice. For our entrees we had the mushroom arancini with blue cheese aioli, and the pork and chives with sweet chili dipping sauce. For mains, two of us chose the beef Wellington, while one picked the margherita pizza and the other chose the prawn and chorizo linguini. The beef wellingtons were cooked perfectly, and the bearnaise and dauphinoise potatoes were a lovely accompaniment. The linguini was cooked beautifully and came with half a dozen good-sized juicy prawns. The margherita was topped with fresh basil leaves, homemade pesto and juicy baby tomatoes. Perhaps a little too much cheese, but very tasty. We were advised that portions were generous and they certainly were. Only one of us could consider dessert. The wine list was well-balanced and complemented the menu, and the surroundings clean and fresh. We'll definitely come back.
