What a wonderful gem! The staff are lively and welcoming. The coffee was so good and the food was great! We stopped for brunch and it was worth it. It’s dog friendly too which is awesome! I’m adding this place to my go to list.

Superb food with an excellent choice of wine. Meals were presented efficiently and delicious to the eye. The owner/chef came out to chat to the patrons which was a nice personal touch. Unexpected fine dining experience in rural NZ. The lamb shank meal was to die for. You must come and try if ever you are in Hāwera.

What a lovely place on a sunny day to have lunch! ☀️🌻 Nice choice of food including kids menu, a gorgeous garden to sit in while eating and so dog friendly! 🐾 Ours got so much attention from the staff and she was brought a big bowl of cold water, plus her own little serving of treats. ♡ We'd definitely come back and would highly recommend.

Helpful staff were happy to swap out haloumi cheese for mushrooms tasted great. Chose the coconut detox smoothie 🥤😋 yummy. Hubby had the chicken snitsel which is a big meal he couldn't finish it all. I guess that's the only downside to mine was it's just one slice of bread and I could have easily eaten two,😉😉

This is a GREAT place to chill out and enjoy some lovely catch-up time for yourself along with wonderful food and good service; or to catch-up with family and friends in lovely surrounds and over a wonderful lunch or afternoon tea.... or even possibly dinner. Check first as to when it is open, because the hours of opening have changed a little, generally from Wednesday through to Sunday they will be open at some time to enjoy a fabulous visit here! Today I enjoyed a late lunch/early dinner: Chicken Schnitzel with Salad and Fries, accompanied with a cool drink, and also a cappuccino to finish. (In the past I have enjoyed the Hunters Schnitzel with Mushroom Sauce/Gravy; and on other occasions a cappuccino an exceptional and lovely slice of Black Forest Cake!) There is a good variety of food to choose from, small or large.

4 of us dined in for my husbands birthday dinner, we were greeted by a very nice waitress and shown to our table. I was so happy to see the different dietary options they provide on the menu. I ordered a chicken burger (changing to GF option), their fries aren't GF since they are cooked in the same vat as gluten containing products so they offered to do me a potato mash which came with pumpkin chutney, and ordering GF garlic bread as entrée (there were 3 but I already ate one before taking the photo!) The food was absolutely amazing! Both waitress and waiter were fabulous and the restaurant/Cafe itself is very cozy and very fair in pricing. We have found our favorite eatery.

First time here. Almost missed the place being outside the town but glad we stopped. Had the best eggs benedict and black bean vegan vege burger. Chips were lovely and crispy and the flavours were spot on. Table staff were very friendly and courteous. Coffee was also very good.

Came here for dinner on a work trip. Beautiful interior, lovely staff and the meals were amazing!! Left feeling very full. Thank you so much guys, will definitely stop past next time I’m here!

Clean warm, well lit, and friendly atmosphere. The furniture is a little mix matched if i were to be over critical. My coffee (Hazelnut Latte (they were out of Caramel)) was very well made and tempered, and my breakfast (Eggs Benedict) was made perfectly to how i like it, eggs runny but well cooked, bacon crispy however NOT over cooked. All served to our table in very good time.

Awesome! Lovely staff & setting. Dhukka Chicken kebab on cauliflower risotto was tasty. Loose leaf tea in a pot. Outdoor sitting area too!

Very impressed! I ordered the Pork Belly burger and a Triple C burger and chips. The online ordering was easy to navigate, nicely presented and had a really good selection of takeaway options. The online payment process was easy to follow and fast for processing the payment. I did like the multiple options for pickup time and the earliest time available, wasn't long after payment. Upon pickup the restaurant was clean, well presented, the staff were friendly and overall the pickup was very easy. Most importantly, the food.. The Pork Belly burger was absolutely delicious. The pork was perfectly cooked, full of flavour and the added coleslaw, spicy onion relish and aioli were perfect and well matched with the pork. I didn't eat the Triple C burger myself but not only was it very generous in size, but the person who ate it was also very impressed. I will be back to try that next time. Overall I am very impressed. The Pork Belly burger is not only the best Pork burger I have had, it is in fact the best burger I have ever had. I am a big burger eater and I haven't had one as good as this. The price at Upside down is very good. After eating the burger and chips, I think this is the best price point I have encountered for some time. Well down Upside down!! Would be amazing to have another store open in New Plymouth. There is nothing like this up there. Thank you for a lovely experience.

Absolutely delightful experience with friendly, polite staff and great food. We had only visited once previously and were remembered and warmly welcomed when we returned. The atmosphere is unique and special, will be return customers. Thank you beautiful humans

Delicious food & friendly team! ❤️ busy, yet the service was fast! Enjoyed my snitchel burger & my husband loved the farmer's breakfast. We went back again for breakfast & strudel the next morning which the owners lovingly make to order. I got another burger & husband getting the snitchel too. Both delicious & like an Austrian culinary journey! Thank you!

Nice humble little venue. Service was excellent, and the team were super friendly. Food was amazing. Highly recommend the Lamb Shank and Apple Strudle. We will definitely be back!

We had booked a table for the 2 of us to "celebrate" our wedding anniversary. A very friendly male staff member greeted us& showed us to our table. The 2 lovely ladies who also attended to us were equally as friendly. The meals were delicious -(Hunter= Jägerschnitzel!) We shall be back during our time in Hawera and thank you Renate for the bubbles- really nice gesture, much appreciated!
