Review Asuka - Henderson

We were on the way back from a Piha sunset when we found this quaint restaurant on the map, still open til 10, but definitely getting ready to close if it wasn't for us coming in (slow night for a variety of external reasons we think). I'm so glad they did stay open and let us order anything because it was all so, so good and we got so, so much haha. The box meals are huge and amazing, especially the side bowl of miso soup which is always a favourite. The Japanese steak and tuna tataki were also delicious and cooked perfectly. The interior ambience only made everything better, and I would easily think would be a great date night corner spot.

Good food, good customer service and good environment. They were super busy with valentines rush but still managed to make the wait times bearable bringing food out in good succession and within a good time frame of each other. The staff are friendly, inviting and will try to help however possible while making sure you have what you need.

We didn't make a booking and they happily joint 2 tables to fit the 7 of us. Very very enjoyable delicious food! Service was good!

Very satisfying to have dinner at this place. The price matches with the amount of food I got. Though I think they should increase the amount of rice slightly more. Additionally, I have one complaint, one of the staff doesn't seem to speak English well. My brother asked if the restaurant have other flavor of Fanta than the orange one, but the staff didn't understand the question. Even after asking a couple more times and slowly, the staff wasn't able to comprehend.

Excellent food (Chicken Katsu was delicious), service and ambience. Can totally recommend. Whole family enjoyed their meals - and staff were helpful making sure one meal was free of an ingredient that someone was allergic to.

We are always satisfied with our meals... kids love the food to.

A steady Saturday night, with 2-3 tables coming and going during our dinner, one dish was a lil’ slow arriving, but an extra dish was served.as an apology. A pleasant dinner enjoyed by my wife and myself.

Came in for dinner with a friend and we weren't greeted by anyone or seated for ages until we finally had to call someone and we were seated at a dirty table even though there were tables free that were clean and not reserved and after 10 minutes went by our table finally got cleared and we got menus there was nothing on the menu that was appealing like sushi or anything so we ended up walking out and no one said goodbye. Would not recommend this place.

Me and my best friend came here to have a sushi date last weekend and were very disappointed. We had to wait 10 minutes for our table to be cleaned and had to sit there with a filthy table, even though there was a cleared table on the other side of the place. The ambience is very tiny and gives off a claustrophobic vibe. We didn’t even stay to grab anything to eat as the service here was so slow and was pricy for the same sushi we got across the road

I’m glad we have this little local gem nearby so I can get my Japanese food fix. The mixed sashimi platter was fresh and the salmon was fatty, so good. All the other dishes we ordered were also yummy and full of flavour.

Fresh and Authentic. Two critical aspects for when you visit any Japanese restaurants. Asuka has ticked all the boxes.<br/><br/>We've tried their Asuka Set which is their stone grill set. It comes with sashimi, tempura, selection of stone grill with miso, rice, salad sand ice cream.<br/><br/>Scrumptious!<br/><br/>

Cute little place in Henderson. I got the udon, dumplings and takoyaki. All good potions and so yummy! Good local Japanese in Henderson. Would Come again to try their set bentos.

I normally go every other Saturday eve, really friendly atmosphere friendly staff , tbh I think I have gone through the entire menu ( apart fro eel ) awesome place

A quiet little japanese place with lovely polite staff. Edamame are one of my favs and I was not disappointed.  A good price for lovely Japanese cuisine.

I loved going to Asuka! <br/>It's such a cosy little place, with great service, great food and a handy location, close to home. My parents recommend this restaurant to me because they absolutely love it too! The portions are very generous and the food is well priced.

The first time I went to eat here was 2 years ago. I still come to this place because they have maintained the quality of their food. Simply authentic delicious Japanese food. Their chicken katsu is the best. Rich in flavour and tender. Their new spicy chicken is amazing! Ambiance is like walking into a little Japan, cozy and lovely.

Been here a couple times at lunch time, always packed, no complaints either times. Love the salmon bento, definitely worth your bucks. Friendly service, very attentive, Tasty miso, actually everything was great. Love the atmosphere here, it's amazing how they can capture a relaxing and zen like place in little old Henderson. This place is a definite A+ dining. Worth your bucks, I have to try dinner here next.

I give this place a high rating, due to surpassing all my expectations. I went there last night with a friend and had the best chicken katsu I've ever had (apart from my mothers of course). I tried Sake for the first time (turns out i didn't like it but oh well) and also had a lot of food for the first time. I could live in the curry katsu forever. The ladies there were very nice and friendly and I will definitely go back.

WOW, a real hidden gem in the heart of Henderson. Went for dinner and was an absolute delight. We could have eaten everything available on their menu. (well we did ask for the menu again after our meal as just wanted more fabulous food)Prices were great and food was exceptional. Service was friendly and welcoming. Even my fussy 5 year old daughter enjoyed her Kids meal. The food is beautifully presented, amazing range on offer and as I said prices to match. Would highly recommend this fabulous little restaurant to everyone and anyone. Cant wait to go back again.

Been here for dinner a few times and now come here for lunch when I'm working in Henderson. Always fresh sushi and sashimi. Prices are great too. Table service is awesome. The man always brings me a glass of water and cup of green tea. I am always back to work in time too. Will be back when I'm working out west again.

Pretty much my bf and I's regular go to spot! Always a quick and yummy dinner, we get the teriyaki hot plate but as a takeaway. Always ready on time and a good price! <br/><br/>Have dined in here once and the people are always nice. Nice calm atmosphere, although not much seating on busy nights.

visiting from Australia I really enjoyed this Japanese restaurant for lunch with my aunty, the teppanyaki salmon was delicious and the price was very good. I will be back next time im in town

I had a lovely lunch at Asuka! Miso, takoyaki, seaweed salad and salmon sashimi all nice. Beautiful presentation of food and restaurant decor, good customer service. Little downer - lunch menu a bit limited & I asked for salmon ONLY sashimi and got served with some prawn, scallops & salmon. Dinner may have more exciting dishes, though I would easily return - love Japanese food!

I have been to so many Japanese restaurants in Auckland but out of all this restaurant is the best. All their food tastes amazing and just everything about this place is great. You will be experiencing top chef quality food here. I highly recommend Sashimi, Beef Tataki, stonegrills, sukiyaki, teriyaki chicken and desserts, but all their meals are just amazing. I have to love the customer service here as well. They will remember you and your favorite order when you come back quick water and tea refill is very instant. Highly recommended.

The yummiest Japanese cuisine by far! Loved the fast friendly service. The setting is quiet and intimate- highly recommend. Great value for money. Can't wait to go back!!

I had katsu. It was not as crispy as I would have liked but, it was reasonably good. More salad and pickles or kimchi would have been nice. I will try other menus next time.

I love love love this place! Once I was introduced to this place, I just couldn't get enough! The teriyaki salmon is delicious! I'm always walking out of the restaurant bloated and happy! It's a nice cosy restaurant with tasting flavours in the food! Fresh and a right portion! And friendly staff.

Absolutely LOVE this place! Best sushi ever :-) ♡ we go here all the time and the staff are amazing. They even know our order now and we love taking our kids here and ordering take away regularly. The sushi is amazing, I LOVE their prawn roll and their salmon roll and nigiri is incredible :-D

As beautiful as what the reviews say. Went here for the first time today for lunch and both my partner and I loved our beef hot plate. Very yummy and great amount for the money value. Place is clean too. We can't wait to go back asap to try the curry :)

I absolutely love this place and come here regularly!<br/>I cheated and went to another highly recommended Japanese restaurant and was very disappointed and thought about Asuka the whole time and wishing we had just gone here instead. <br/>Cheap, great food, service is good!! (Has been a little slower on a few occasions but doesn’t mind me) I highly recommend!

We have dined here many times and on every occasion it has been great. The only exception was once when our meal was slightly late, but the food was great anyhow. I am going there again for Valentines day, but will book now as last time we missed out.

First time at this place last night. Already planning our next visit. Our meals were SUBLIME (Stonegrill Japanese steak and Stonegrill Mixed Seafood). The service from our waitress was BRILLIANT. She recommended what to try and also what to drink. Normally I flit back and forth between using chopsticks and a fork when eating Japanese, but our waitress showed me a small trick with them and I ate my whole meal with CHOPSTICKS. Didn't think of using my fork once!!! Meals were really well priced and we thought were fantastic value for money!

Here on holiday from Sydney.. phoned up a takeaway and it is SUPERB! Can see us eating here all week... well done.. your food, menu &amp; service is EXCELLENT.. We can highly recommend A+++++++++++++++++++++

LOVE these guys! We've been here (both with and without our 2 kids) and every time they have been really lovely, prompt and their food is amazing! Great value for money and the atmosphere is lovely! We go often, they're great :)

A good Japanese restaurant that you can have a quick lunch at, a cut above what you would get at a food court. Their spicy squid was lovely. <br/>Their staff are very friendly and appreciative of their customers.
