Review Hut Bbq Noodles Chinese Cafe - Henderson

Staff are super friendly and attentive, will constantly refill your tea when dining in. Cost to portion ratio is very generous. Upon revisit: There was a fly dead in one of my sweet and sour fish on rice dish, which is of course unpleasant. An unlikely occurrence but it happened. The meal was replaced and remade.

Have been here for lunch many times. A simple Chinese restaurant but pleasant. Spacious and comfortable sitting. Friendly service and the food was tasty. No parking problem. Many choices to chose from. If you are looking for some Chinese food this may be the place for you to visit.

Underrated food. Very delicious roast pork and bbq pork. Very big serving size.

Seated and warmly greeted with the obligatory free cup (glass) of tea. The Won Ton Noodle Soup arrived a short time after ordering. A large soup bowl, I was initially surprised there were no condiment bottles of sauces available but they were not necessary as the soup was perfectly seasoned and flavourful. 6 large pork and shrimp won tons, with a large shrimp in each won ton. There is certainly enough to share and definitely enough for one. Beautiful thin noodles and some bok choy round off a lovely dish. Clean setting and polite, friendly, prompt service. The roast pork and roast duck were both equally delicious.

Pretty good size! And flavour and everything is what you’d expect from a Chinese bbq takeaway. Only problem was it was slightly pricy compared to other bbq places I’ve been
Chris
Quality food and crazy large portions 😅, value for money! Ordered three meals for three people with some left overs.

Fast & quick service. They’re very generous with portions. Amazing Chinese food. There Wonton Soup have pork and prawn in dumpling FYI.

Got the half kg duck and half bbq pork and bbq pork on rice good sized quantities to takeaway the duck was nice juicy not dry but not a fan of the sauce used for the bbq pork however managed to finish it all didn’t wait long Price for bbq pork on rice was about $20 which is quite steep compared to other places
Michela Kane
Duck on rice and bok, we searched all over east Auckland and had to pay 19$ at another place for ONLY duck Here we paid 17$ and got everything in this photos 🥰 definitely a favourite

Four combination meat with rice, I ordered bbq pork, bbq pork ribs, soy sauce chicken (with delicious ginger spring onion)and roast duck, highly recommend if you are a bbq meat lover, definitely I will come back to visit.

Our Nine plates dishes were so yummy and nicely presented. There were eleven of us and the nine dishes were more than enough. Plus our three children and one three year old were well pleased. Now, something for the owners to think about. Your decor in the restaurant side needs upgrading seriously 😒. It's letting the business down and get rid of those stacks of empty boxes.

Definitely great quality each and every time. Pricing reasonable, lovely customer service. Quick service most of the time, and every time I go, it's always busy.

I have take away a roasted duck and cripsy pork on rice. I got shocked when I see the portion, it's full of rice but just little bit meat, my roasted duck is all bone. I used to be regular customer, but every time I went there I can find out the portion is getting smaller and smaller. Its been 3 months since I last visit. Today I decide to give another chance, and this is the last. I won't return anymore. For this price I can get bigger portion and good flavour roasted duck. Bye!

I have just got home with my meal and I am beyond frustrated. I ordered the beef brisket noodle soup, beef brisket and mushroom and seasonal veggies.
I paid $26 dollars for the beef brisket only to have the container be filled mostly with rice and a tiny bit of beef. This is absolutely unacceptable.
The mushroom and "seasonal veggies" was just a a few chopped up mushrooms and bokchoy that was also $26. Where is the rest of the veggies??
I will not be returning to your establishment it is overpriced in the first place and then you cheap skate your customers.

Came here two days ago after about a 6 month gap and I was really suprised at the difference inside the dining area. The door was broken and being winter, all the cold air was gushing through and it was very cold inside. Luckily we were just getting takeaway as the interior needs serious renovations. The food is still tasty and delicious but I wouldn't recommend dining in at all.

My go to for Roast pork. You get your moneys worth too 🤙

We used to come here quite regularly, today is the biggest disappointment. I ordered 3 combination rice noodle soup. There's only 4 pieces of duck, and 3 out of 4 pieces is mostly bones. When I requested a change, the new waiting staff said this is how they always have for their 3 combination, I said I've been here many times but it was never like this. Roast pork was all fat with hardly any meat. Worst of all, the whole bowl of rice noodle soup was sour, as I asked for the waiting staff again, she opened her arms and mouthed "what's it this time?" As if I'm here to look for trouble, she argued with me that it's not possible that the bowl of noodle was spoiled, I asked "why don't you have a taste yourself and tell me if it's not sour and spoiled" the other waiting staff eventually offered to change the noodle for me. This time the soup was tasteless, like boiled water and bok choy had many black markings. Not going to come back unless they go back to the quality they used to have. Btw, there's quite a few small flying bugs in the restaurant and toilet…yuck! With a experience like today, I would rather stay home and cook for myself…

Food 3/5
Service 4/5
Price 4/5

Not gonna lie, the food is ok.
What really gets me is that their price went up twice by $2-6 in less than a year of time.
Yea I know minimum wage went up but was it really that much so you have to up your price by that much??

My local chinese bbq spot.

I always get bbq pork, crispy pork and soy chicken on rice. Really good portion. Probs give you the most in auckland as i do go to most of these “bbq spots” and nothing compares to their crispy pork, way more ‘meaty’ and the crispy skin has a nice crunch full of flavour.

Only reason not 5 star because they were a bit iffy and randomly put the price up by $1-2 for all dishes when paying and then the week after put it back because obvious backlash from all their regulars

Good food and lots of choices to choose from the menu ! Kids like their roast duck and crispy bbq pork. Vegetarian Fried rice noddle also my love one.

Always a goody especially when you're hungry as food is served pretty quick. Great value for money here with large portions. If your looking for fancy this is definitely not your place. Our favs are bbq meat on rice and combination stir fry noodles. The prices have increased however there is a bit of competition now with a couple of new establishments nearby so to be expected. They have finally got rid of the horrid carpet, next reno I hope would be new table and chairs.
Juanita Salaivao
We LOVE it here! Great value for money and such great flavours. Something for the whole family as a special treat. Our faves have to be the crispy pork , the bbq duck ohh their rice is amazing aswel as the veggies 👌🏾 we’re always getting extra!

Here goes. I’ve been here a number of times and each time is a different experience. Some good some not so good. The food is usually good - very good dependant on what has been ordered. It’s okay for money. Depending on who's on at the time of your order. Time for somewhere new.
Theresa
Portion is really big with good price! Like their roasted duck noodle. Tasty!!!!
Will definitely go again try their other dishes! Recommend!

Worst chinese restaurant in town. We ordered crispy pork and fried noodles. The noodles were average and the pork was very salty and dry. The bok choy that came with the pork was cold. The service was terrible. When we placed our orders, they told us the crispy pork would take longer than usual (10 min) which was ok. However people who came after us had their crispy pork first and if I hadn’t reminded them we wouldn’t have received our order. Definitely won’t be back.
ZaniBani
Usually choose the BBQ and Crispy Pork on Fried Rice very tasty and generous with serving. Favourite Sweet n Sour Pork! However service has been difficult and have been given wrong orders on many occasions
Stacia
The restaurant itself is extremely dirty and appears unhygienic. Recently and in and although it tastes good , the food prices are now exorbitantly high for the portions you get.
Kicky
I have been in this place several times, the food is actually quite nice, however their service is very anoying especially when you take away the food. Asking for chilli will cost you extra $1, I bought Roast pork and ask for Hoisin sauce, they said it is inside, but I do not find any sauce inside.
This is not my priority place.
Ian Passtoors
Tasty roast chicken with a lot of flavour very yummy and tasty I definitely would go back to by this chicken so good. This has has to be one of the nicest chicken I have eaten.
Foodie Nerd
The food is tasty and affordable. Although the servings is small for some of the prices.. I didn’t like the fact on my last visit, I saw one of the chefs picking his nose and then went on handling food yuk yuk. There’s a time and place for an unhygienic habit, especially when you’re dealing with the public and their meals..
Jmo
I’m sorry but their venue is just too grubby!! There’s grime on the walls and the carpet is disgusting!! I liked their food but they seriously need to clean their premises!! I won’t be going back and I wouldn’t recommend this place.

If you are after some roast duck in the Henderson or west Auckland area then this is probably one of the best. Everything else is pretty average. Have ordered takeaways for dinner from them many times and have noticed the quality, presentation and taste of some dishes can vary quite a bit for some reason, maybe they have different chefs working during the week?

First 3 photos shown were taken 3-4 years ago when this place hit the spot. they don’t make their dishes like that anymore!

I used to love coming here (been a customer for 5 years) however, over the years the food has gone downhill and prices have gone up.
Their BBQ pork used to have the nice char siu flavour and now it tastes like it’s been marinading in soy sauce + sugar. The sweet n sour was overcooked, chewy and dry - not to mention we couldn’t taste any pork. Our beans were overcooked and burnt and the roast pork was mostly fat. I hadn’t been for a while but today is my last straw. What a waste of $72!!

Ordered chicken and salty fish fried rice. It’s good that’s why I always come back to it but they don’t use to put frozen peas and carrot -like this time. Would much prefer without it please.
Hardysweden
I love the food here! I started with the mushroom tart. It was SOOOOOO good! Very cripy pie with super delicious mushroom! So good! This tart was big enough for 2-4 people to share! I felt very full after having half of it

This place is yet to let me down. I’ve lost count the number of times I’ve come here as it’s my local. The best in the West and I’d go as far to say in Auckland for their BBQ Pork (on fried rice is what I normally get) and the beef brisket noodles also with that special sauce is amazing! Service is always friendly and quick. There isn’t a day that they aren’t busy which goes to show how good their food is. Highly recommended!

Came here a couple of nights ago for a dine in dinner. It was quite busy for a Monday night, I took that to mean that the food was good, We were promptly seen to and were sat at a table for two in front of the Roasted meat/duck display. The smells were amazing! We had the Chicken Fried Rice and Sweet and Sour Pork. Both tasted delicious and there was enough for a doggy bag (lunch the next day). I am so keen to come back and try some of the other items on the menu. If you are looking for authentic tasting food, I definitely recommend.
Tony Wan
We came here a couple of time for lunch. Typically Chinese style
restaurant but spacious and pleasant. Service was good and friendly.
Food was normal but tasty. If you are looking for simple Chinese
food with good taste this restaurant is recommended.
Josie
My father and I go here so often! The food is full of flavour and you get more than you can eat every time. It’s nothing fancy but it’s delicious
Sailau Dinel Vaimoso
Great place whether you're dining alone, with a large group or even just a casual family night out. Food is very tasty and a family favourite for sure
Jeffie
My local for Chinese bbq and it's consistently good. I always get a roast pork on rice and a roast duck on rice as well. Service/ambience is standard.
Max
This place has really good food! BBQ pork is by far the best out west. The meat on rice is our normal order. The roast pork is also good, soups are nice and the chilli they make is again the best chilli sauce out west. Service is good for takaways but we have never eatin in.
Amanda Jane Prior Williams
We've had takeaways 3 times from here so far. The food is of a very high standard. Staff have always been stern but efficient not a problem. The crispy duck is yummo. Bbq pork fried rice was a little sad as pork was cut very small. Chow mein always a hit however. Very reasonable prices with generous portions.
Emmanuel B
I would recommend dining in only if you really need to, the service can be pretty bad with the servers being quite rude and inhospitable, the most recent time I've dined in I was greeted with hostility.

The food is pretty good would rate it a 3.5/5, the crispy roast pork is 60% fat and 40% meat which I find disappointing because I end up with a plate full fat, the duck however is really good. The seasonal vegetable dish was average at best.
Sarah Tuifagu
Staff not always the most friendly, depends who serves you. Good value for money, crispy pork and duck on rice is a definite fav. Is very busy every time we visit however meals are always made quickly.
Ash
The food was amazing the best salt and pepper prawns and the deep fried spicy squid WOW.
THE only let down was that we were served last while the Asian people were served first even though we were seated before anyone else.
I found that really offensive the waitress literally passed us even though we asked her to serve us to serve the Asian people first. It felt borderline racist to be honest would go again but would only order takeaway.
Lunar Love Food
Worst service in auckland, food not clean. After you check out the waitress doesn't even talks word to you, and they said mean things after customer gone.
James Raphael Sheehan
Bbq pork is yummy as! Good size portions. Service is reasonably fast. We look forward to trying a new dish every time we visit also recommend the stir fried prawns with veges. Prawn lovers will not be disappointed
Patrick Maagdenberg
Service is very nice and friendly, food is good as it should and didnt wait long at all for our food to be served. I will definitely be coming back here.

I bought takeaways here instead of dining in, ended up getting the BBQ Pork & Chicken Fried Rice. There was a lot of meat of both pork and chicken which is the way I like it.

Just the general welcome, and the service was good. The waiting time however was a little long than I expected, but who cares.

So walking inside, it's just like your typical asian restaurant where there are tables on both sides and a clear walk through to get to the counter. The chairs are placed right next to each other quite closely though so for a big dude like me tries to sit on one of those chairs, it'll probably be a challenge. But enough of that, managed to receive my order hot, fresh and ready to be devoured.

Been buying the two combinations on rice. Crispy pork is on. Service is decent depending on how busy the store is. Store is clean and staff is polite
Sky Amorangi Nicholls
I recommend getting half a duck if you are getting takeaway the juices keep the duck nice and moist.
The twice cooked pork is awesome as well i really recomend it

Handy cheap eats in Henderson. Good and affordable Chinese restaurant/takeaway. Service good very fast and dishes very authentic nice flavours, price wise very cheap and huge portions! This is definitely our go to place when we are craving Chinese food. The staff are also lovely. Will be back!

Very decent Chinese restaurant to go to around Henderson. It's possibly best priced Chinese places around in area with great portion. Their BBQ dishes are always very filling and noodles are also great substitute to go for! Also, they have unique BBQ dish meat called "Crispy BBQ Pork" where they coat the BBQ pork with nice coating. Worth trying! On the other hand, number of staff don't have the best English skill in the world and their interior isn't the best with bit of old mismatching carpets but still won't stop me from going there again.

it is so terrible, the worst restaurant I have ever been. food is so yuck, it is not real Chinese cuisine at all!! REALLY REALLY BAD!!!!!!! TOTAL NIGHTMARE!! NEVER GO BACK AGAIN!! EVER
Your Lord
Very Bad food, Very bad customer service, Very bad dinning place and total RIP OFF OF MONEY!

1. we ordered a whole roasted Duck for a price of $38.00, but what they served me was 14x piceses of Duck Skins peel off from the Duck. that was about $3.00 per skin, NOT MEAT !!WTF!!
2. our second order was Braised Fish Clay Pot. Again, the material was off, not much fish but heaps of veges and pork belly. charged me $23.00.

questioned the waitress about their food, but they are ignorant, don't give damm about you whatsoever.

NEVER EVER go there again and never recommond anyone to go if you don't wanna your dinner screwed up!!
TheMʌverick
Their crispy BBQ pork on rice is soooo good! I usually order it with a side of their long beans with pork mince & black bean sauce. The staff are really friendly, especially that one middle aged waitress skipping around the place lol. One of my favourite go-to's when I can't be bothered to cook
Lilly.
I tried the crispy pork on rice here and it was to die for. My partner also ordered the roast duck which was succulent and cooked well. Great service. Super friendly people. Will be coming back. The menu and prices have changed so hopefully it will update on here too.
Christina
I'm always keen to try new places that do roast duck and crispy pork. Came upon this place one night and decided to try it out.
The crispy pork they hanging up looked quite good and was reasonably priced at $16/kg- the average person only needs 250-300g so this was a great deal. However I chose to order the duck instead- $16 for half and $32 for whole. This was competitively priced as most places sell them for $40+ for a whole duck.
I ordered half and went home to try. Happy to say the food was delicious with decent amount of meat. Some places charge less but also use smaller ducks with not much meat so it makes it pointless trying to save money that way. With mine there was enough for probably 2-3 adults if served with rice and side vegetables.
Will be back for more!
Lana Maria Lazarevich
The MEAT, god damn, that meat. Cooked to absolute perfection and then some. I'd say it's the best BBQ Pork in Auckland. None of this thin sliced bullsh*t they serve it thick and juicy! Thank you 😊👏
Whiskyncigars
Awesome food. Good bbq meats and reasonable price too. Menu food is also nice. Customer service is pretty good quick is rare fo Chinese places.

I took my dad, brother and boyfriend here for dinner. The food was not bad but not very memorable. What I remember the most is talking to the girls behind the counter upon entering... The main person who spoke continued to shovel food into her mouth throughout the conversation in anime-style. The second girl spent most of that time side eyeing her colleague with embarrassment, probably noticing that it was an awkward position for me as I had brought my family to dine here...nor did I find the noodles hanging off her chin particularly funny. The servings are ideal for sharing with a table of people; however I wouldn't recommend bringing people here if you are dining for a special occasion or if you are trying to impress anyone. The atmosphere leaves a little to be desired and from this experience I would say staff front-of-house behaviour could be improved on. Sad to give this place a low rating as it is close-by to my dad's and I was hoping it would be good.
Miss Kiki
I really enjoy the Chinese food here. Have been for dinner 3 times and have ordered takeaway a few times too.
The peking 2 course duck is good as well as their bbq and roasted meats. I also like the eggplant casserole with salted fish. The hot n sour soup is nice too. My only criticisms are they often give the bbq duck cold. Also the hapuka and tofu on rice dish is substandard compared to other ones I have tried.
The decor and ambience is like any other Chinese restaurant.
Peter Hpesoj-atamut
We have been here a few times for staff lunches and I must say the food is nice but I have tasted better, however it is reasonably priced. It is sometimes hard to communicate with the staff but after a few sign language techniques we were fine.

Found hair in my food a couple times and it's completely put me off not only going back but ever eating that kind of food again !! And it wasn't a small hair it was a black long one
Eliza Tehaara
Love this place, worth every cent, I prefer the 3 meats on rice aaahhh delious and the pricing is very good considering the food is amazing. The duck and crispy pork are just to die for depending on the cut of pork they get that day, it could be all fat but I definitely dont complain. My only complain is that the chilly oil has become to salty but still yum haha.

Steve Jay Queen
I love buying half a duck for take away.... Great duck first time I went, second time it wasn't very hot temperature wise almost cold, which was let down .
J
Will keep short and straight to main point, food=good, portion=bad, starting to feel like I'm getting ripped off,it's not cheap either, hope they start portioning their dishes properly....
Summertime Madness
