I've been living around here for agesss and somehow had never stopped in. What a mistake! I could have been eating delicious Japanese food at really affordable value. The food was really fresh and good. I'll be back for sure. ps: the staffs where the nicestttt

Been coming here for years, and I still love it like the first time. The food is always fresh and tasty, and the value is second to none. Lady boss Sun is just the cutest, such a kind soul. All the staff are really friendly too. Thanks for being the best sushi joint in town!

Had the teriyaki chicken donburi, was absolutely great! Have a carrot allergy and forgot to say it, when i recognized the sauce had carrots inside itold her and i just got an alternative sauce which was delicious! Really friendly service and the sushi looks great! Defenetly worth it.

What a little gem this place is. Totally inconspicuous on the main road but onceyou have had food here you are hooked. Love that you can buy the exact amount you want and pick and choose. So much better than having to buy tray like so many of the big chains have. Definitely recommend this place.

Maki Yaki is my absolute favorite sushi place in the whole Auckland. Best variety and prices, plus the ladies that run the place are sooo lovely. Everytime I'm around I go there cause after being there I feel so much better in every way. I'm a Maki Yaki lover and take all my close friends to this place.

Love their sushi, reasonably priced compared to other sushi places and tasty. Their curry katsu donburi, crispy salmon donburi and other donburis are tasty too.

Stopped in here about a week ago to grab some sushi and wasn’t 100% happy with my katsu chicken i got. It tasted kinda like it had been on display for a few days and the place itself was very small. The service was on the lower side as when i asked the lady working if she could make me a fresh box of chicken katsu and she kinda just pointed at the old box. I’d recommend to improve the service and quality of the food here .

Surprisingly good for a small and cheap sushi takeaway outlet! salmon is surprisingly fresh and cold too. It is just outside the Westfield Mall, definitely an easy option if you come to the mall.

I've never been inside this shop, but my brother who works out west brings home a coupla bentos or don takeaways like once or twice a week, and let me tell you, they legit. Not the biggest portions compared to some other places, but the variety and care put into the food keep you satiated. There's a homemade feel to everything. Ridiculous value for money. I am content after every meal from here.

I wouldn't say it's the best but it's good for the price you pay. It's more of a quantity over quality store. I'll give it a 5 for price but a 3 for taste. I'm a big sushi fan, who isn't.. heh. This place is a good shop in for lunch.

Stumbled across this Japanese takeaway store after seeing a recommendation on a local FB page. So glad to have found it! I’d been looking for an affordable and delicious Japanese place for a while and I’ve finally found it. Lovely service, delicious food and super affordable, Maki Yaki will definitely be one of my regular takeaways from now on :)

Exquisitely beautiful sushi creations as well as the usual roll selection, fresh good quality salmon sashimi on a lovely crisp salad and if you can’t see what you want, they will make it for you. This is now my favourite takeaway sushi place in Henderson.

I came here a while back while doing some shopping around the area. This is the third sushi place I've been to in Henderson and it feels good to be in the town I was born in. Their sushi was somewhat alright, like the texture seemed ordinary and the rice was a tad dry but that didn't matter. I was still satisfied with their food.<br/><br/>The greeting was warming, very kind and friendly people too with their smiles and their nods each time you say something to them.<br/><br/>In consideration with the inside, it's quite small with the dining area. There are a couple of tables, but their chairs on the other hand are very comfy with the cushion built in. Makes you not want to leave the place.

By far the best sushi place in Auckland! Along with sushi being amazing quality and a wide variety, the staff are so kind and nice and always have a smile, which makes this small, cosy sushi shop even more welcoming! 10/10 would recommend!

Maki Yaki has become my local favorite! It doesn't have flash on trend dining experience, what it does have is great food, friendly staff and affordable prices! Both their sushi and bowl meals are amazing and value for money. It has been my first pick for a work week lunch treat! If your looking for something particular which isn't on display (select sushi per piece) they will make/cook it for you. If you're near by and have a rumbling tummy for Japanese, you won't be disappointed!

Love all the sushi they have especially the salmon and avocado sushi.  Am now hooked on the rice paper, chicken and salad rolls.  Great serivce, with a smile and very economical... Yummy!

Best Japanese food and servce in the West. Freshly cooked, full of flavour and tasty. The small team who work here are friendly and kind. A small interior but clean and comfortable.

Great selection. Fresh. Nice service. Would go again if were near by. My partner had sushi & myself katsu chicken curry would be even better if you had a Japanese salad though as after a while you feel like you need something else (my preference) highly recommend

Out of all sushi places I've been to around Auckland this is one of my favourites. <br/><br/>I've been here numerous times over the last few years and they've been consistent (although I remember driving past a couple times seeing a drop in hygiene certificate to a B or D or something but it's a A grade now)<br/><br/>Atmosphere inside is great and service is always welcoming. I'm not too sure if they still do 50% off the last half hour before closing time as I haven't asked them lately or stopped by there before closing.<br/><br/>My fav is the chicken katsu (it has lotsa meat! yum!) - it's certainly money well spent!

Wow amazing is all I can say, the customer service was excellent had a good conversation about Tokyo and anime 😀😀😀. <br/>The food was sooooo good I tried chicken katsu curry, teriyaki chicken, sushi, chicken dumplings, fried sushi. The sushi is massive and I would have their sushi over saint pierres any day, was the first time I tried fried sushi and omg it was delicious, the teriyaki chicken comes with heaps of teriyaki sauce which I loved and don't get me started with the curry it was delicious <br/>I rate this place 5stars and I'm definitely going back, the only let down was they didn't sell takoyaki but the rest of the food made up for it.

The food is really nice there and the price just makes it affordable, all my friends who I've mentioned it to, all like it and kept going back. The staff are always friendly too, so in general the whole experience is a 5.

I keep coming back to this sushi place simply because their sushi is delicious and affordable! The size of the sushi are incredibly huge compare to other sushi shops around. The staff are also friendly, their $5 lunch deal are reasonable for its price and taste. My fave sushi shop!

Hands down the best sushi shop I have been to in NZ.<br/><br/>The sushi here are of good size and its not just 99% rice like some places ive been to. The two best things about this place is the sushi is always fresh and full of flavor. (im Japanese so I know what real sushi should taste like). The lady who runs the shop is really nice and has great customer service. <br/><br/>The price is great as well being affordable enough to go back every time im in Henderson. Probably costs between 6-10$<br/><br/>Try the grilled sushi which just melts in your mouth, has the char grill flavor but still tastes like sushi!! Also try the spicy chicken teriyaki! Awesome!<br/><br/>I have taken alot of people here and they all keep going back! <br/><br/>Only thing is the shop is a wee bit tiny so if you plan to eat in you may miss out on a seat. But do a take away and find a great sunny spot outside.
