I have a massive soft-spot for Gold Star Bakery as they are seemingly the only bakery on the Shore (or at least the only one I have found) who still make chocolate crackles. A couple of months ago, we went on a giant crackle hunt from the Hibiscus Coast to the Harbour Bridge and just as I was starting to lose all hope, Gold Star came to the rescue. Of course, since this discovery we have been back many times - their crackles are the stars of the show (in my eyes at least), but their other food is also well worth a visit. In particular, their butter chicken pie is another reason we keep coming back and they have a great selection of filled rolls as well. They also have an insane range of desserts and treats, from all your usual classics to more custom creations. GSB have quickly become one of our favourite bakeries on the Shore. Please don't stop making the crackles!
I am one of the workers at the shop and just to not let any customers get confused with the prices that has been changed awhile back i will list them down now. All the pies are $3.50 each with plain steak and mince being only $3.00 while all the sweet slices are $2.00. Our prices may vary next year but please don't ask us to give you the same price of what you have seen on the menu listed in the website because a few customers has forcefully demanded the prices they saw on here. thank you.
Hands down, the best bakery in Auckland. Well-packed fresh sandwiches, meaty pies, coffee and real cream donuts. All at a great price. Do it!
I must say Gold Star Bakery has literally THE BEST egg sandwich ever. Cold from the chiller and just like mom makes. I'll definitely go back for this new favourite.
Good selection of food at reasonable prices. However, prices have definitely crept up in the last 12 months - about 2 years ago this place was the cheapest on the shore. Not anymore though. Pies and sausage rolls are usually good, although every now and again you get a bad batch. Sweet treats are nice but I don’t rate the bakery items (buns, rolls, etc) as they sit out in the open all day, usually with flies around. Place is pretty dirty and could do with a good clean. Overall, a nice local bakery.
Tasty pies and well priced .... filled rolls and filled croissants are filling and priced well . Bakery selection is full of all the goodys. Would recommend for the feeds

Local bakery there's a great range of food items that you can choose from.
I walk past here during my lunch break. I like the variety of food offered, the savouries and not a bad price either. Fast service, no waiting.
