Review Howick Village Cafe - Howick

Nannan Cao
Very nice staff, delicious food. My son loves the berry smoothie 😋

Vegan breakfast was unique and tasty, coffee was made with Allpress beans and they all tasted great (flat white with oat milk, latte, americano, latte with soy milk). Lots of savoury and sweet cabinet food options alongside the menu which was good.
Ramona Green
Delicious dinner, staff are friendly and attentive. Super nice atmosphere. Can totally recommend it and will definitely come back again.

First time being here, had heard excellent reviews from friends and finally made the drive from Central Auckland. This was definitely worth the drive! The iced coffee was excellent and had good flavour. The food was delicious and had generous portion sizes! It was fresh, flavourful and pleasing to the eye. I implore people to make the trip (that don't already live in East Auckland).

Met friends here for brunch. We all enjoyed our meals, lovely to sit outside in the sun/shade (they had outdoor umbrellas). Busy place, best to book!

Lovely cafe in Howick! Excellent service and nice decor. Great coffee and high quality food. Plenty of parking nearby. Best to book in the weekends, as it can be quite busy. Located next to Monterey Theater. Great place to catch up with friends and kid friendly
Fran Crouch
Great food every time! Has got more expensive lately, paid $95 for 2 people lunch and soft drink only! Special occasions I think but it’s great.
Mayline Woaye-Hune
Lovely little Cafe. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food came very quickly (although I was there early and I was the only one at first!). The plating is beautiful and it taste as declious as it looks. They have a good selection of sandwich, rolls and quiches in the fridge as well. Definitely worth a visit.
Joanne Collier
Delicious food as always daughter had her favorite open chicken sandwich (bit light on chicken this visit though) and I had the brioche French toast. Coffee and smoothie was also lovely. Great menu options and lovely staff.

Place was fully booked but we managed to get a table pretty quickly. People were getting turned away after we sat down. Both drinks and food came very quickly and both were very tasty. Even at a busy time, highly recommend this place!
Sophia Scanlan
Great Cosy atmosphere and staff. Delicious food and coffee at a reasonable price. Definitely one to recommend:)

Always have a great time here. Staff are kind and helpful. My son ordered the piggy buns, they were not so sweet.
Jade Monk
Lovely place! Really awesome staff and the food/drinks are well presented and taste amazing! Price is reasonable as well.
Chinmay Pandit
Wonderful little cafe with great service and reasonable prices for delicious food. I think the mark of a good cafe is the quality of pushed eggs and they definitely qualified on that. The only reason they lost a star is that the tables were improperly cleaned, hopefully that won't be a regular issue.
MICHELE TIDSWELL
Staff are friendly and always willing to go the extra mile. The breakfast, brunch and dinner menus are varied. Food is delicious!
Mingxian LI
We ordered chicken egg Benedict and Green smoothie. The food is not only delicious for our stomach but also delicious for our eyes. Staff are very professional and friendly, especially the lady called Helen , so friendly.
Sarah K
Delicious food and friendly staff. There are vegetarian options for brekky. The coffee and smoothies are great. I got the creamy mushrooms and a smoothie which was delicious. Very busy so I would recommend only small groups or make a reservation

Tasty eggs benedict... Very smooth mocha... Friendly helpful staff...

The French Toast is the best, not just locally but Auckland wide! Perfect as it is but if you add Bacon or Fresh Strawberries you're in for an extra special treat! Service has always been friendly but a bit mixed as far as speed and accuracy goes. On one visit our paid for at the Counter Orders were "checked" with us twice back at the table, not a problem but we still don't know what was difficult? Another time what looked like a sort of impromptu Staff meeting was held at the back corner which caused a bit of back up in the queue. Parking is tricky here, as what appears to be available is "technically" not. Lastly the place seems to be getting busier and busier, especially the weekends before midday. We tend to book now, even if 15 minutes before we plan to arrive. They do they best they can to accommodate. Thanks HVC!

Love love love this place, the food is always delicious, service fantastic, very reasonably priced and the coffee is fab! Can’t say enough good things about them! Thanks for all the yummy brunches throughout the year, I will miss this place x

Amazing food, and amazing service. All the staff are so friendly, and make you feel so welcome as soon as you walk in. Highly recommend!

We have lived in Howick for 11 months now & only just went here yesterday for the first time for breakfast. We were very impressed! Beautiful atmosphere, big & spacious, kid friendly, lovely staff, not loud, amazing food & presentation. Perhaps a little on the small serving size but that's ok because the cabinet food looked delicious for something sweet after. But overall we couldn't really fault it. Best cafe in Howick, we will be back
Sam Christie
Amazing cafe! Absolutely stunning presentation and delicious food. The staff are so friendly and take the time to say hello to everyone, incl children.. so incredibly impressed with this wonderful place! 😍
Jes Rose Proffitt
Love the food, the people and the atmosphere! The food is always so lovely plates up and tastes yummy every time. The staff are very friendly. I would highly recommend this cafe if you want to eat out or just grab coffees in East Auckland.

This was the first time we had had dinner here. The service, presentation and food were amazing! The staff were attentive to our needs, even replacing our water bottle when it was almost empty. They even remained open until we had finished our evening together. Will most definitely return here again very soon.
Natasha Tyler
This is our local. Love it, always busy and full of kids and families. The service is amazing and food always presented beautifully and with a smile. We went yesterday and had a lovely lunch. Thank you x
Claire Galbraith
No matter what we order, we are never disappointed. The service is outstanding. Cynthia is a gem!

Been for breakfast & dinner with our almost 1 year old. Very kiddy friendly, lovely staff and excellent food. We will definitely be back

Best hot coffee - all press is the best! Food is great too. Like to sit outside as it can get a little noisy inside. My go to cafe in Howick.
Kylie Raffaelli
Love this place! Great service coffee and food.

Phenomenal brunch. Great service. Lovely atmosphere! Definitely recommend!!! Yum!

What a lovely cafe! I noticed it on the weekend and popped in today to check it out with my mum and 8 month old son. The service and food was delicious and it's definately a kid friendly place. The ladies working there were lovely! We'll definately become regulars!

The food and service are great. Cool vibe and decor, good for families and to meet friends. By the cinema so very handy. Delicious meals and cabinet food. Coffee is just okay. Lots of parking and near public transport too.

Took young friends- they were impressed. Lamb shank, pork belly and ginger beef. Starter of dumplings and chicken. Food presentation and flavours terrific. Service great. BYO an advantage for us. Busy place on Wednesday night.
A lot of things on the menu I have yet to try.
Melinda Khoo
The food and coffee are quite nice at this cafe, however my dining experience here today was much to be desired. The staff were rude to me, the service was terribly slow and I would be hesitant to return again. I was dining with a group of friends and it took the wait staff at least 10-15 minutes to come and take our order. The drinks did not come out at the same time, nor did the food. We were dining with kids and my 3 year old had to sit and wait over 30 minutes for a smoothie, watching the rest of the table eat and drink. I chased the staff up 3 times only to be told it's coming. When eventually it did come, half an hour later, it was time to leave. I asked for a takeaway cup, only to be told by the rude cashier, I should order my drink in a takeaway cup next time! I was not impressed.
Jia
It’s really yummy food here and the staff was very friendly and gave us a warm greeting while arriving. The pasta was really delicious and I love the creamy sauce with bacon & mushroom. I'll definitely come back again:)
Amy
One of the best cafes in East Auckland! Nice atmosphere with friendly staff who are happy to set up tables outside for you if it gets too busy.

The food here is very good and always presented nicely. I would highly recommend the nachos here!

The BEST cafe in Howick 👍👍
GNUEL
def a must go to cafe in you're out east. they are always very busy everytime I pass by (sometimes a queue on weekends).
breakfast and brunch is amazing!! Eventually tried out their dinner menu and no doubt it is amazing as well! The yellow curry I had is very creamy and rich in flovour, better goes with rice! my friend loved her burger even it was too big for her. Will have to come back and try other food again.
Etienne Marie
The first time i went here, the food and service were amazing. The second time, the service was horrible. Nobody attended to us, cleaned our table or gave us a menu. We asked help from one of the servers but she said, very rudely, that’s she’ll be back. We were so hungry at that point that we left the cafe. The place wasn’t even that busy. I’ve seen busier cafe’s with way better service. Such a shame because the food is good, but not that good that it compensates for the bad service.
GS
Made a booking for a birthday dinner here and it was such an amazing experience. Biggest thank you goes to the manager Cynthia who I was in contact with to organise the event. She was so sweet and organised, it really made planning the dinner so much easier.

The food came out fast, all the dishes looked beautiful and tasted as good as they looked. Highly recommend to pick this place for gatherings and events.
Jan Deng
A nice busy place for food, very close for me and great for locals. Had a nice salmon bagel and some take away from last week. Always like their food. Just a little bit noisy at the cafe. If you were looking for a place to talk maybe need to checkout first before sitting down.
Emma Judd
Have been here many times trying out different things on the brunch menu. Each time the food has been to a high standard and well presented. There is a great selection of food on the menu as well as cabinet food. There is both in door and out door seating however can be very busy at times which is expected with food this good. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a great brunch in Howick.

Everything was beautiful, the staff were welcoming when we entered, coffee was delivered right away, the food was beyond excellent and the berry smoothie was beyond delicious!

So good and highly recommended to all, had the beef burger and my wife had chicken - juicy awesomeness. Really busy but food came fast and friendly service!! 5 stars
I had been to this restaurant for my friend birthday party. They set up a table for 12 people. Decoration of this restaurant very nice and fresh atmosphere. I had been trying four dishes were cooked by Ray, he is the chief of the restaurant. The steak was cooked perfectly, softly and yummy. Highly recommend to everyone come and try the food.

One of the best cafes I have been to in Auckland. A little hidden gem under Monterey Cinemas. They open till late everyday except Sunday so it’s a good spot to visit for late dinner/supper after movie nights. The staff are all really friendly and know what they are doing. It was my first time visiting here though I have always seen this place packed with customers. I also highly recommend to visit Howick Village Cafe for those who are looking for kids-friendly cafes as they have a range of children’s menu items available as well as toys and simple drawing materials for them to enjoy whilst waiting for their meals. :-)

Great coffee! Atmosphere of the cafe is vibrant, the art work is visually stimulating. Great customer service from Holly, she was extremely polite and friendly.
Anna Chan
Love this place for their breakfast and brunch. Not really a fan of their dinner menu as it's not very extensive. While I feel like a lot of time and care has been put into refining the breakfast/brunch menu in terms of presentation and flavour - more needs to be put into the dinner menu. My personal favourite here is their little breakfast board including orange juice, Granola, and a mini eggs Benedict (with no meat included). They are really nice with tweaking your order to personalise it to your taste (with extra cost).

Genuinely the best cafe, my wife and I visit every two weeks. The staff are awesome everytime and the food matches the service they provide. Some days are busy but once seated its worth it.
Gavin
Friendly staff. Nice coffee. Great selection of sweet and savory food. Reasonable prices. Cosy Great as it is right next to the Monterey Cinema too I will be regularly going back
One of my all time favourite places. Howick Village Cafe provides incredible food and service and such a nice atmosphere. When you visit HVC you MUST try their hash cakes.. so good! Everything on their menu is meticulously crafted and their cabinet good is perfection!

I have been here several times before. Surprisingly delicious seafood special today. Fresh and fragrant. I'll definitely come back for more incredible food.

Have been here twice now and honestly love this place, always pumping, great food, good service.the thigh chicken sandwich is an absolute gem, so much I had it on both our visits. Stole some of tofu salad and a fish taco from my wife and mother in law, so good.. Love it,highly recommend
I live 20 minutes away from Howick Village and whenever I pass this place, it always looked so full. You can tell that people love this place as I see the cafe busy almost every hour I pass by. My friend was coming from the city and we decided to try this place out. I ordered the burger with a glass of iced mocha. The coffee was delicious and the burger was good. I have had better burgers before but this one can compete with them. The staffs are nice as well. It feels homey inside.
Linda
A cozy cafe with great food and coffee. The chicken open sandwich was delish, cranberry sauce was a perfect match. Staff were attentive and friendly 👌🏻
Lisa
Incredibly friendly service and great atmosphere, I’ve been here a few times and the food has always been pleasant. Definitely is a local favourite, will always go back for breakfast. 😋

Came here for brunch and the food was lovely. French toast was so well presented and the Benedict and cabinet food looked good too. Nice vibes inside. Would definitely come again
Hana
This place is always busy and that is for the obvious reason - it’s good.
True little gem in howick. Good range of food and beverage options. Friendly and attentive staff. Plenty of seating inside and out.

If you are looking for a good breakfast this is definitely the place to go if you're in the area.We got the eggs bene and French toast to share and they were both wow. Great service aswell

Love the interior, really cozy with lovely staff. Super kids friendly, definitely the place to go if you have kids with you.

My favourite is definitely the eggs benedict with hash cake. Their hash cakes are amazing! Really crispy but not too oily.

The french toast was also very nice. Thick toast but soft and fluffy inside with lots of yummy sides.

Went for brunch on my 21st birthday.
The place was pretty crowded but the staff were all very friendly and attentive.
Our coffees were delicious, my BF ordered a cappuccino and I ordered a Mocha, both regular size.
For mains I ordered the calamari and I throughly enjoyed it, would definitely recommend!
Only complaint was on the French Toast which was ordered by my BF. The portion size was not in our favour and we felt that the amount of toast that was served did not justify the price that we paid for it.
All in all, the meal was of quality, Hope that the French toast can be improved for our next visit!

Great place to go for brunch, with a nice environment and friendly staff. We ordered pork sliders and chicken tacos.
The buns for the pork sliders were surprisingly soft, and had a sweet tinge which goes nicely with the pulled pork and apple relish. The pork could have been more tender though. The chips were also a bit bland and soft.
The chicken tacos had generous amounts of sauce, and the chicken was very tender.

This place doesn't disappoint on great friendly service - the staff all had smiling faces and were very attentive to every table. Food was amazing, we had the pancake special, the toasted New York bagel with salmon and cream cheese and a cappuccino. The presentation was beautiful and flavours worked really well together for both dishes. Definitely would love to come back and try different things next time.

Food - 4/5
Ambience - 4/5
Service - 5/5

They had heaps of vegetarian options and the food was absolutely delicious! The picture is of the crispy tofu soft shell tacos, house made hash browns, and chai latte.

This is the best cafe that I have been to in Howick. Been here many times and the food is always presented well and always tastes great. The waiting time for food is quite short compared to other cafes I have been to, even at busy times such as Saturday mornings.
Ari Kim
Really great food in old Howick! Friendly staff. Good variety of food options on the menu. Only downside is we found the tables a bit too close to each other. Would definitely be returning!
Nathan Tam
Beautifully presented food which was full of flavour. The beverages are also made really well. One of the best cafes around East Auckland. Highly recommend for breakfast and lunch.

A popular place amongst the busy cafes in Howick.

Howick Village Cafe offers many options for breakfast and lunch, and what’s better is that their breakfast menu runs all day! Ordered the Hash Cake from the breakfast section and the Asian Wok from the lunch section.

The Asian Wok had a savoury taste with a hint of sweetness. It had a generous mix of vegetables, cashew nuts and chicken pieces, which complemented the rice. The sauce was flavoursome and plentiful. Would recommend this dish if you are looking for something a little different to your usual brunch selection.

I tried a bit of the Hash Cake - it was the right amount of crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. However, I thought the serving size was slightly too small.

We waited quite a while to be seated and served, but it was understandable as it was during peak hours. The wait staff were all really friendly and carried a smile whatever they did.

Food: 9/10
Ambience: 8/10
Service: 8/10

This is a new place in Howick for brunch. I ordered an Asian fusion rice. The presentation of the food is average however it is tasty. It is a bit pricey however it could fill me up. I assume I would come back.

This is the new place to eat in Howick. Great food and even greater service. The waiters/waitresses always have a smile on their face when serving and their food reflects their mood! Will definitely be coming here more often
Jim Lin
Went in with high expectations, came away unimpressed. The food was really average, the wait time was extraordinary, they didn't even serve the food at the same time, and by the time all the food came it was cold. They brought out incorrect orders multiple times, even put extra sides of bacon on the wrong plate, then asked us to just get it from the wrong plate and eat those instead of making extras. Waited a long time for the burger, finally came out and dropped the burger on the floor. For whatever reason sunny side up and fried eggs are apparently the same thing. Highly disappointing considering how highly rated it is on here.
Maria M
We visited this place 4 times and always experienced great service and excellent food. The atmosphere is very friendly and comfortable, tables are clean. There is a great variety of food, which is tasty and well presented. The staff is professional and smiley. Will definitely be back!
Auckland Foodie
This might have been the best breakfast i‘ve had in a while. Their breakfast board comes with an orange juice, granola, a bit of fruit, and smashed avo on ciabatta with a poached egg. So good!
Tarotaro
We had an awesome lunch experience here. Food and coffee was very good, it's reasonable price. Service was very pleasant. Will definitely com back here again.
Michael Collins
I ordered the big breakfast the bacon was over cooked and the toast was very hard I also believe chorizo sausage does not belong in a big breakfast
Ngwxx
Love this place for brunch so decided to try it out for dinner. The food and service were both great, even with a packed out restaurant. The pricing is very reasonable so it’s a great place to take a group of friends
FoodieOodie95
Looooved this place! The food was delicious and the service was top notch. The ambience is warm, cosy and homely! They have a really great menu with each with a lot of variety for every kinda appetite. They are definitely not stingy with their portion sizes wither as its filling and leaves you feeling satisfied but not overly full that you feel sick. I got the beef burger and it was reeeally good! The cookies & cream milkshake was also nice as it wasn't overly sweet and nice and creamy. The only let down was the prices as their menu is on the expensive side but this wouldn't stop me from visiting again in the future. Their cabinet dessert selection looks yummy as well.

Second visit yesterday in the last month - a nice place to visit before movie and lovely coffee!! but I found the young staff member a bit rude (especially to the elderly man who seemed a bit hard of hearing next to me, I did feel sorry for him - not nice to see). Sorry

I had such a good brunch experience at the Howick village cafe around 2 weeks ago. I had come here and booked a table for 16 friends to celebrate my birthday and Howick village cafe catered to all our needs despite table of 17. The customer service was very nice and all the staff were very friendly. They even offered to stick their own candles onto my birthday cake and light them up and even put on a happy birthday song. The French toast was worth the price and all the components truly went well with each other and it was definitely an artwork . Had an amazing time so thank you very much Howick village cafe . Also the cafe gets very busy so if you are planning to come , safe to book a table ahead of time. The cafe was so beautiful and all the food came out beautifully presented . Definitely worth a visit

A lovely place with friendly, attentive, and professional staff, great service! Meals are good sized, coffees good and the price would suit most budgets.

We had lunch here today beautiful cafe with great selection and well presented food! Staff were more than welcoming and accomodating! Only let down was the coffee 3/5. Thank you!! Definitely worth a visit!

First time today for my partner and I. Great service, nice atmosphere, enjoyed our meals and coffee and will be looking forward to returning again for sure 👌🏽
Danena Wu
The food was made really well, presentation of food was also spot on.

Customer service were pretty good in general, a little bit of a wait for the food to arrive but that’s understandable because it can get quite busy sometimes.
Ashleigh Hea
Great food and generous portions! Also the wait staff are super lovely and cheerful and really take care of you as soon as you walk in. It's kind of a hidden gem as it's tucked away on a side street, but it's definitely worth a try if you're ever in the Howick area!

We have just had dinner at the cafe after going to the Monterey Theatre next door. Great staff, friendly and attentive and we thoroughly enjoyed the meals of - Warm Thai Beef Salad and the Pasta with mushrooms and bacon. Both of the meals were beautifully cooked the salad was colourful and full of flavour. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the pasta and it smelt delicious. Ideal for a cafe next to a movie theatre we will be back.

Firstly let me applaud this establishment for its diversity. I love it when I’m at a café and I see people of different backgrounds/ethnicity work together. Howick Café is probably the best café in Howick, the establishment has a fantastic atmosphere where it lets you feel the bustling and joyous emotions of life while satisfyingly your stomachs cravings.

The menu is pretty standard for a café but they do your classic brunch meals well, I had the big breakfast and the partner opted for the eggs benedict. Our meals came out in roughly 10 minutes on a pretty busy Sunday brunch, was surprised we actually got a seat to be honest considering how busy it seemed! I’ve also had their cabinet cakes before which were also quite delicious. In terms of disappoints there wasn’t really any, except the milkshake was pretty normal, would have expected a bit more of a twist to your classic milkshake but that isn’t even a complaint really.

Showstopper: Fantastic food that is tasty and excellently portioned.

Overall Grade: A-
A Wee Bit Critical
Great environment! The spinach and mushroom egg benedict is one of the nicest ones I have ever had. The service is a bit all over the place, but I think that’s just new staff.
Nice outdoor area, impressive food presentation and taste. Professional staffs members and good neighborhood. Indoor area is quite warm and sometime the cashier is a bit slow
Great food at this joint, some of the breakfasts I’ve had at a cafe across New Zealand and Australia. A must do if your dining out for breakfast in or near Howick.
Kylie McIntyre
This place is a must to visit, the food, the staff and vibe is just awesome. We shared 3 dishes (Salmon Hashcakes - Calamari & Prawn Tacos) + 2 drinks came to $53
Es-Tea C
We had a great and full breakfast. Nice environment for family. Professional presented food and tasty meal. The price matched the taste, portion and presentation. So no complain about those. Serving time was also good. Overall was an amazing experience and will definitely come back.

It's hard to find places with pretty food that actually taste nice! Egg Benedict on hash potato was amazing!! Their sauce made it taste even better! Staffs were super nice and friendly!!

it was awesome! it tasted fresh and I LOVED the sause sooooo much!!!! and the big breakfast was reeeeally big lol my friend wasnt able to finish by her own👍👍

A hidden gem located in the backstreets of howick. I say this because it really is hidden! Walked a good 15 minutes around to find it as google maps doesn’t seem to quite know where it is 🤔. Back to business though - the presentation is what drew me in. I’m a sucker for gorgeously presented brunches 😍. Whether you’re into sweet or savory, there’s something on the menu for you here! It’s not the most vegan friendly cafe though. The food is wholesome and tasty without any of the ‘fluff’ that you see in most Auckland cafes. The service is the only let down of the place as it is slow, miscommunicated but still friendly at least. Overall I would recommend this cafe for catch ups with old friends and a quick bite 🍰

Howick Village Cafe is a fantastic place to pop to when you're out and about in Howick. Situated close to the local shops and other places of interest, it is a great place to pop into when you are in the area. I had the bacon and eggs, as did my partner. The portion size seemed a little small for the price of the meal, although the food itself cannot be complained about! The bacon was delicious and the eggs were cooked to perfection, with toasted ciabatta bread which made a change from the usual sliced bread. The staff were all very friendly and attentive and not just on this one visit but on previous visits too with table service! A very warm and inviting cafe with so much potential - a definite recommend!
Carlos H. Leyva
Best place in Howick for breakfast, coffee or a quick bite. Loves its friendly staff and number of choices. Great service, food and ambiance for all of us in Howick.
Joanne Chiang
Decided to check out this hidden cafe on a sunday. And was surprised how packed it was. The place was nicely decorated but the ventilation could be better, it felt like as we walked into a smokey kitchen. I ordered the egg bene and bf got the beef burger. The burger was really good, however the chips came with the burger was overcooked. The egg bene was good, the hash was crispy and yummy.
Gina
Awesome service, lovely coffee and delicious and well presented food. Always consistent which is also hugely important. Always a pleasure to come here.

I've been here 3 times in two weeks after a friend recommended it. It's a fantastic cafe however I think after a couple of visits the intial awe did wear off.

The deco is amazing, the walls, the ceiling, the toys for kids and the amazing cabinet food. It's very well thought out and really pays off. The cafe is a bit cramped but as they are always so busy I can see why they have tried to squeeze in extra seats.

Upon my first visit the staff were great, very friendly and slighty overbearing but I overlooked that. On my third visit I was put off by a waiter who was visibily irritated as I wasn't ready to order when she first asked. She then stood around and stared a lot which I just found uncomfortable. Given this was just on staff member and it wouldn't put me off visiting again.

On my first visit we just had cabinet food, a roast vege quiche, a mince pie and a passionfruit cheesecake. Everything is presented beautifully. Unfortunately the quiche lacked actual roast vegetables and the meat pie was very dry. The overall taste for both was also average. I did enjoy the cheesecake though.

On my second visit I had the pancakes from the brunch menu. I have really picky with pancakes however I enjoyed these a lot, especially because they gave me a jar of maple so I could choose how much I wanted to add. I didn't really like the Chocolate crumbs with the pancakes but they can easily be avoided. My friend had the portobello mushrooms which she says are amazing. We also ordered the Tiramisu cheesecake which I absolutely loved.

On my third visit I ordered the vegetarian fluffy omelette. I prefer the additions to my omelette mixed in and then cooked, in this case it was just popped into the middle of the omelette and flipped over. Nonetheless it was still a nice breakfast accompanied with relish and salad. My partner ordered the toasted bagels with bacon and cream cheese. He wasn't the biggest fan but he is hard to please.

Overall a fantastic cafe with a great selection of food. I would definitely recommend if you're in the area.
Ashleigh Michelle
This is such a beautiful modern cafe with a great atmosphere and in such a convenient location! I only came for coffee and cabinet food but would definitely be back for a proper lunch. The staff here are super friendly and bubbly!

Yummy fried squid and steak. Value for money. Ambience is good, cozy. Very family friendly. Good for dates if you want something reasonably priced.

Food presentation was amazing. I had the greenthy smoothie which was nice. My meal was the open mashed avo sandwich which I added two poached eggs to - not sure if I'll order it again. Waiting time was not long at all. Service was great, staff are super friendly and happy creating a very comfortable ambiance.

Love the design and decoration of the cafe. However it is a very noisy cafe.... If you want a friendly place and chit chat with the waitress (they are very friendly indeed), it's a place for you... However if you just want to enjoy the coffee peacefully, maybe it's a better idea to eat at outdoor area.
Food are fine but not impressive, coffee is not strong enough even it is already double shots.

Such a lovely environment and incredible staff! Came here for lunch today and ordered the caramel soy latte and a mango frappe to start off with. Both really really yum 😍
Ordered the pappadelle and it was the most tasty and satisfying dishes I've had 😍 so incredibly saucy and the pasta itself was so good. I've never had pasta from a cafe tasting so damn good.
Also ordered their buttermilk pancakes and it was so beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looks.
Would definitely be back

This a beautiful little place in howick. Such great atmosphere! I came here for a quick brunch and ordered the mushrooms. The best creamy mushrooms I have tasted! They had so much favour and even a bit of spice. Yum! You get quite a large portion and definitely more bread than any other place from my experience. However my caramel latte was huge let down. It was so sweet that I couldn't have more than a few sips. The wait staff were lovely and I'm sure they would have taken the drink back if I asked!

Good and friendly staff, but old pastry old and dry pastry :( I really like how clean the cafe is compared to others around Howick, but also noticed that some of the "chef" and cooking staff don't wear gloves when handling the food. and they usually give you coffee with a marshmallow that is exposed to the open air , and the sugar used for the coffee is always old and open in a sad old container.

We went here on a Saturday morning and the place was extremely busy but we managed to find a table. They did have a lot of tables reserved so perhaps you can book. The staff were very attentive and with a baby helped us to get a highchair and made sure we were comfortable. Coffees were brought out pronto and then we ordered. We had the French toast and potato hash benedict. The French toast was brioche (or similiar) it was a large serving with bacon and grilled banana it was also accompanied by a pour your own jar of maple syrup. It was delish. The benedict was superb. Eggs cooked to perfection with rolled pieces of salmon and a crisp hash cake with soft potato inside. I asked for the hollandaise on the side and that was good. Presentation was immaculate. Both dishes were under $20. Can't fault the place. Will definitely be back!!

So nice having a decent cafe open on Good Friday! Very busy but managed to get a seat and service was quick. My club sandwich and mums bacon pasta were both very delicious and filling! Drinks came after meal but not too long of a wait. Very pleasant staff as well.

Been sitting here over 10mins, tried to call the staff with my hand wave, no one engaged. And there were 3 young lady on the floor, I'm sure they have see me but choice to ignored.
Place is okay no so busy during lunch time. Service like this very surprise me.

After 15mins long Finally a staff see my hand wave, asked for menu and water got response with black face...

We ordered coffee and lunch, food was pretty average... service are VERY poor.

No recommend at all, especially the front line staff.

It's my first time at Howick Village Cafe. We were greeted & seated by friendly & cheerful wait staff. My Angus beef burger was excellent; fries were crispy. My wife's potato hash cake was nice too. The tiramisu cheese cake was my pick - delicious & beautiful (see photo). Coffees could have been hotter. (Food - 4/5; Service - 4.5/5; Ambience - 3/5)

A lot of people rage about the Howick Village Cafe being really good, but apart from their coffee, I wasn't too convinced. While the shop is modern and nicely presented, and service was friendly and prompt, the food that I tried wasn't that great. Their noodle salad in particular is very dry and took a lot of effort to eat. Their tiramisu looked a bit sloppy and was far too sweet.
Would definitely come back for coffee, but think I'll get takeaway!

Good place for brunch. The food is well prepared, nicely presented and of course yummy! The coffee is great as is the service - this is a great little local for the Howick community. 👍

Cute wee Café in Howick. I went there with a friend for an afternoon catch up. We ordered a thick shake, ice coffee and a couple of items from the cabinet.
We were greeted politely upon entering the cafe and informed that the kitchen would be closing shortly (as it was close to 3PM). Food was fresh and drinks were lovely.
I'm looking forward to returning hear to enjoy some of their lovely looking meals from their menu.
Overall nice atmosphere, newly styled and trendy café. I would recommend my family and friends to come here :)

My new favourite in Howick! Been here twice now and it just gets better! Partner loves the eggs bene, i've had the cajun chicken salad and the club sandwich and all were amazing! So much flavour, beautifully presented and all round perfect! Coffees good, service is warm and friendly.
Can't wait to be back ❤️

Boy oh boy, best cafe in Howick without a doubt. Food is well presented and bloody delicious, decor is aesthetic and customer service is great. Only downside is that the coffee isn't the best so it's just like "eh"

Went on the weekend and it was mediocre. The staff were eager to please but their refusal to allow the use of my entertainment voucher for two of the four friends we met unless we paid foe everyone was rudely delivered and I have complained to the entertainment book as well.

To review, I had a burger served with overcooked cold chips and on a sweet bread which was pretty dire. The burger itself would have been tasty without the sugary bread though. The coffee was much improved.

Foe the sake of $4 discount I will never return though.

This cafe is situated in a very convenient location for a light bite to eat or a cup of tea in the awkward before and after periods of watching a movie at Monterey Cinema next door. To be frank, I am not a big fan of cafes, as they often seem to be overpriced for very basic dishes that often don't impress, so I had very little expectations besides a nice atmosphere and average food.

But I'm always happy for my bias to be proven wrong, and in this case it was completely obliterated. Despite the pricing matching most cafes I've been to, the presentation of each dish was more like a chic inner-city eatery, with several extra components and the increasingly more popular embellishments of sprouts and edible flowers. Alongside its stunning looks, the flavours were delicious and reflected a lot of hard work. The hash cakes appear homemade - a recommended dish, or an alternative to English muffins with the eggs Benedict - and the poached eggs have been perfect with every dish involving them. It truly makes for a pleasant dining experience.

Alongside friendly staff and an owner who's happy to stop for a chat when it's not too busy, it's possibly one of the best cafes I've been to. While I haven't sampled their cabinet foods (although I am very keen to try them), I would highly recommend the breakfast menu for a light meal, especially for those stopping by for a movie.

I'd overlooked this cafe, the location is slightly awkward in that you are more likely to drive rather than walk past. The interior is quite a revelation, very spacious with high ceiling and modern decor. Lots of baked goods on display and quite an extensive menu. The cafe is open till 9pm most days.
I had the avocado smash which comes with poached eggs, wholegrain toast, a splattering of seeds and a flower garnish. It all looked very attractive. My latte was average good.
The service was efficient and the cafe was busy. I'll definitely return here.

This place is the best cafe in Howick imo! I've been here from time to time but they've recently changed their menu and it's yummmm. Came here yesterday with a friend and had their French toast and eggs on hash (I think that's what it's called). The food was so amazingly plated and taste was so so yum! Honestly this cafe deserves more credit, their food is way better than the apothecary (which has gotten worse overtime tbh)

Sensational steam and mushroom pie and a lovely roast beef sandwich. The passion fruit cheesecake was delicious and the coffee was fab. The atmosphere and decor are lovely warm and inviting with friendly staff and good quick service.

Stopped off for breakfast at this popular newish spot. It was nice & warm inside on a cold wintery day. Lots of seating options from a bench seat to round tables. Menu & table service, although there are also a number of great options to choose from in the cabinet.
Service overall was pretty good - prompt & friendly.
Ordered the big breakfast - decent size, couldn't finish it all. All elements were good - eggs poached well. Bacon tasty. Coffee was also nicely made.
A good cafe option in Howick.

Nice place in all and service was pretty good. Ordered two coffees (flat white and mocha), one had burnt milk and the other was an extremely mediocre coffee. Would try again on a different day, but for now I'm left feeling slightly less than impressed

We were there today for lunch .
We enjoyed the food which was generous in portion .
The service was excellent and the staff were very courteous .
A fairly new addition to the Howick cafe scene -great modern decor and the outdoor seating is super cute! We've been warmly greeted by staff every time we've been here.

Coffee is good - soy latte steamed to perfection
Food wise, I think the menu is quite limited and parts of the menu I thought were out of place, but my lastest dinner here, I had the seafood risotto and it was covered in a generous serving of seafood! :-)

Would recommend if you're after a different cafe in East auckland.. Though menu is quite similar to surrounding cafes

This place serves the best coffee I've tasted on the east side. Also is never too busy so it's the perfect place to relax, keep warm and do some work. Service is great and the portion sizes are acceptable. Nothing bad to say about this cafe!!

My favorite cafe in the east region! The food is good and the service is great!
They have brunch, afternoon tea and dinner. The place to go when I ran out of places to meet my friends.
The atmosphere is good too, as the tables are spaced very well not crowded at all.
I've tried almost everything on the menu and yet I still find it hard to decide what to eat each time. Bcoz they're all so yummy!
Highly recommend!!

Great service, the staff are always kind and patient with my two years old. Prices are a bit on the high end but the portion is quite bug. Love the big breakfast and always tempted to try their whittaker panna cotta & tiramisu.

Howick Village Cafe is a welcoming place, the coffee is very nice, the service also prompt and pleasant, and the full breakfast and French toasts are delicious. It's also kids friendly.

Every time I come here it's bloody brilliant! Definitely recommend! The service, the food, the location all makes it the best cafe by far in Howick!

Excellent service, ambiance and food. The decor is modern, clean and warm. Great child-friendly place as well, very happy with how helpful the staff are with choice of food for our kids. Highly recommend to everyone who are after quality food & service! Will be coming back with friends & families.

Looking for a great menu? The Howick Café (formerly the Robin Café) is a great choice. Wonderful options, very eclectic, cooked exactly as it should. If you want some dessert to go with your meal or for after a movie at The Monterey, you won't be disappointed. Personal favorite, the brownie, the brownie with caramel, and the carrot cake - all a-m-a-z-i-n-g. The service, the food, and atmosphere makes The Howick Café our new favorite.

New cafe and restaurant in Howick is a wonderful addition to local eateries. Food is excellent, interesting and perfectly cooked, ranging from roast chicken dinner to delicious burgers and an extensive brunch menu, including lambs fry and bacon - never seen that on any other menu. The chef and staff are most obliging, the atmosphere is welcoming, quiet and relaxing. Their phone number is 09 533 6626 - they don't have a webpage yet.
