Review The Batch Cafe - Invercargill

Had a nice experience in a super busy cafe in Invercargil. Though cafe was busy, the customer service was exceptional. Especially, the service staff took extra care in prioritizing each customer and orders. Had cheese scone, chicken wrap was tasty. Cappuccino was good too. Worth visiting this cafe!

Stopped in for a coffee and returned for lunch due to the gorgeous looking menu! The downside was the wait time because it was so popular! I wish I could’ve ordered off the menu rather than from the cabinet because the selection was divine! Unfortunately I didn’t have time to wait any longer and it did take a while even for a takeaway sandwich. Gorgeous decor & beautiful bathrooms. I can see why this is a highly recommended cafe! The coffee was gorgeous too & the day stunning!

Great food and great cafe ambience! Friendly staff too. Loved the Eggs Benny as well as the sausage roll. I wished I could have ordered more but my stomach was not big enough. The scones are a big hit too! Coffee was sublime.

Really nice cafe with great cappuccino. The brownies are also amazing. All places were taken when we arrived but we could squeeze in on a table. That was really nice especially for a little chat with.

The cafe was quite busy even on a rainy day. The blue cod was rather good. Free street side parking nearby but limited.

Although our expectations were high, the Batch definitely exceed them. Great food, high chair for the kids, big smiles, everything was perfect. I had the seafood chowder with a bacon and cheese scone. The coffee is awesome too.

This place was incredible. The best seafood chowder with sour dough toast was delectable. Service was friendly, the tables comfortable and the atmosphere was light and appealing. We enjoyed the food so much that we purchased some sandwiches and cakes to take on our travels. Obviously very popular with the locals as there were a lot pf tables reserved. Highly recommend

Fast service and amazing food. Best cinnamon scroll in all of NZ! Also one of the best cheese scones our group had ever had. Fantastic food and great atmosphere, dog friendly too! Highly recommended and lots of vegetarian / vegan options.

I ordered Eggs Benedict with Salmon and was concerned when I thought it had accidentally mixed with bacon which I don't eat. I quietly asked a waitress to have a look and she said she'll send it to the kitchen to check. Another person then came (I think she's the owner) and reassured that it wasn't bacon and kindly offered to cook me a fresh new dish. I was very happy with how this was all handled and have been coming again ever since 😍 Recommend everyone to order the eggs benny, I really enjoyed it and also the scones, they are amazing!

Nice decor, good food and attentive staff. Very generous portions of food. Husband couldn't finish the eggs Ben with bacon (we are Asian). The French toast was very nice and portion was more manageable.

Delicious food, great coffee and the staff are always so lovely. My only gripe is that everyone else knows it's a good spot so it's always heaving, but food it always quick and delicious.

Went for the first time yesterday before the NZ Netball games. It was very busy but your staff still gave great service and the food didnt take too long. The food looked and tasted amazing! will definitely be back and recommend to others.

A brilliant find in Invercargill Great selection of fresh food and menu items (the cheese scones rival any I've ever had!), relaxed vibe and super friendly, helpful staff - an awesome lunch. Can't recommend highly enough!

Excellent place for coffee and food. Never fails to deliver! Favourites are cheese scones, cheees rolls, gingerbreads, brioches and a number of meals from the blackboard. Pretty much everything is yum!

Attentive and friendly happy staff, great coffee and food (had eggs on toast), price was reasonable and interior decor is cosy but modern. Fast service too. Would definately come here again if I'm visiting Invercargill

This cafe was a welcome find in our NZ travels. We were warmly greeted by the front-of-house guy on arrival. The cafe was heaving w patrons, but he went out of his way to find a space for two. My friend enjoyed and happily devoured the Seafood Chowder w great gusto commenting that it was the best she'd ever had. I indulged in the Spanish Omelette, accommodating me w my food allergy. The most scrumptious Omelette in a very long time. Staff were friendly. The advised 20min wait was absolutely nothing in what we've experienced along the way. Only disappointment was my friend's insipid tasting coffee.

Obviously a very popular place as we couldn't find a seat inside. Lovely earl grey tea and great coffee. Extremely generous portion of bacon

The Batch is the best eating place in Invercargill - actually in Otago and Southland. It spoils you for when you go to others. They seem a little dowdy. The food is Scrummy, always a variety. Coffees and Chais are delish!! Staff are so friendly and soon know who you are and what you want. Cant praise them enougch

Went to The Batch Cafe for my Birthday Breakfast with some friends, and we were all absolutely blown away by the hospitable service! Such a friendly team that go the extra mile. My order was unfortunately misheard and I received the wrong item, however, I received a replacement + a complimentary slice and drink. Would definitely recommend

Great effort at an "on-spec" vegan breakfast, and pretty decent coffee.

What a great start to a rainy invercargill morning. Great coffee, good portions and plenty of allergy options. Better than my usual wellington and Auckland hipster joints. Really good place all round. Will probably brave the rain for a takeaway coffee later today

Excellent lunch. Chowder was very tasty and the corn fritters were well received. The blue cod butty was very tasty. All food well presented and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming.

I am a regular customer, - whenever I take a trip to Invers.....for shopping and or training/sport and socialising, I always like to swing by Batch for either a dine in coffee/lunch or snack or even a takeaway coffee! Awesome vibe, terrific helpful staff with great attitude, modern relaxing setting and always at least relatively busy if not really busy which shows Invers isn't always quiet and sleepy! So if I have visitors from Oz, overseas or elsewhere in NZ come and stay, I like to take them to Batch Cafe, it's always great!

I have followed these people from the 3 bean cafe to the current location, service & food always first class and The Batch is a credit to Donna & Gareth and their lovely staff.
Other towns in Southland could learn from this cafe ie if you are open, people will come to enjoy the atmosphere projected by the people that work there and are happy to be there unlike other establishments around the country. Attitude is everything, we own a commercial building opposite the batch and this cafe is a draw card for our tenants.

Our work team had an early morning breakfast just before Xmas last year. We had phoned and asked if we could send in our orders the day before so they could be started and ready promptly. No worries was the answer.
Well they had our orders at the counter but waited until everyone had arrived and paid before starting to cook so our wait time (there were 14 of us) was about 50 minutes and the last person was just on the hour. I had only ordered muesli so that wait was a stretch.
The food was good so I would go back in a smaller group, but it was frustrating to have to wait that long when we had planned to try and avoid that very thing.

I visit The Batch Cafe once a year when i visit friends in Invercargill...and it is amazing!!
The cheese scones are a must to take away for a sneaky afternoon tea. My # 1 breakfast/brunch choice would be the lemon and ricotta pancakes with blueberries...plus a side of bacon...absolutely devine! Thank god i don't live closer as I would visit far too regularly.
My friend said it is the best eggs bene she has ever tasted.
Can't wait for my next trip south :-)

Very noisy cafe, not good for intimate conversation or business meals. Food took a while to arrive.

Gareth and Donna have got it right! We are regular visitors to The Batch. We love the attractive, interesting decor, friendly welcoming staff and of course the great coffee. Interesting counter food selection - the mini ginger bread loaf is my favourite. The board menu for brunch and lunch has something for everyone. Gareth's is a mostly ex fisherman who knows a thing or two about fresh fish. My sister loves the pork belly! The wine list is very smart. If you want to sit, coffee and read the daily papers or a mag, have a coffee or breakfast meeting, Sat or Sun lunch or just meet the girls, The Batch is the place.

Nothing beats this cafe. The coffee is great, food fantastic and the best customer service in town. It is so nice to walk into a very busy cafe and you are always welcomed with open arms, no mater how busy it gets they always have time to say hello and to see how your day is going. They have a great menu and the home made cakes are to die for!

Gareth, Donna and Kate you guys rock!
