Review Waxy's Irish Pub - Invercargill

I couldn't decide between a few of the mains as they all sounded great so I got the server to pick for me, he had a good sense of humour and didn't disappoint either haha. He picked me the pork belly and my wife had buttermilk chicken. Really generous portions, crackle on the pork was absolutely amazing. Desert was really good too.

Good size toy box for wee ones and very accommodating of children. We did have a long wait and found some of the staff a bit forgetful but they were very apologetic especially seeing as we had a little one with us. They were busy and most likely understaffed which we understood. Great sense of humor with the dry southern kiwi vibe. Being locals we loved it. Highly recommend the waffle pudding 👌

Waxy's Irish Pub is an institution in Invercargill. A very popular spot for a few drinks with friends or a good hearty Southland meal. Meals are tasty and overall pretty good. The seafood chowder is actually creamy and delicious and full of seafood, a bargain for the price compared to other restaurants near by. The pasta and bangers and mash were nice but averge, the loaded wedges were also very run of the mill and frankly disappointing. The chicken tacos are a treat and went down well. Service was the biggest downfall, waitress seemed new, distracted and seemed stressed with her workload which meant simple items like soup spoons with the soup were missed. However 5 people and a drink $139 bucks. Very reasonable.

Casual pub and good for dining, cozy place and environment, clean, professional service, friendly staff and smoke free. Have a special offer in particular days. I recommended. One of my favourite dining place.

Nice and clean js a tad dark. Had tacos without the slaw and side of chips for lunch, as it was easier on my gut lol came in 3 ate the other one, flavorsome and light. Would have again

food was absolutely delicious, service was slow but really nice, i would say the menu is fairly expensive but food is definitely high quality, was not disappointed

Awesome drinks and tasty beers everytime. Wedges with sauce is mindblowing with the beer. Very nice ambience inside the pub. Nice to be in especially in Friday's and Saturday's.

Had the lamb burger.. superb ..frys had a garlic mayo dip , yummy .. nice on its own. Whole meal was really filling lamb patty cooked to perfection. Staff were really nice . Band comes on around 9pm . Highly recommend this place, hopefully my photos load.

Open fire, friendly staff, relaxed vibe. Good pub grub lunch.

Great atmosphere, really accommodating staff. Really good food, loved the salt & pepper squid, cheese pot & breads was fab and had an awesome chicken Caesar salad. Had dinner there two nights in a row!

Dined for lunch 27th May 2018. Absolutely awesome...good food, excellent service,and great warm place to be on a cold done...well done staff.

Dined here tonight. Steak was fine but vegetables were raw an only just warm. Asked waitress to take them back to be cooked some more but were returned raw again. Wont be back in a hurry

Went into for a meal and cannot fault the place with a very enjoyable experience.

Went to get food this evening with my partner, As people have highly recommended This place we where refused food as we didn't have ID with us all we wanted was Food no alcohol just food yet we where refused?? Shouldn't matter if it is a licensed Premisses you should be able to serve food but if the person ask for alcohol then you should ask not for food never heard the likes of it in my Life!!! Safe to say I won't be back an I will be warning people with family's, Couples etc about this stupid ID Policy!!! It is ridiculous & so stupid!!

My hubby, in-laws and I dined here 10 years ago while tripping around the lower half of the South Island and dining at Waxy O'Shea's was the best meal, atmosphere and service during our 2 week holiday ... the waiter was awesome, took our order (with lots of changes) without writing it down and were delivered exactly what was asked for to a t - well worth the tip! If we could uproot Waxy's and bring it to New Plymouth we would have! Highly recommended :-)

4 out of 5 of us had good meals but the steak was inedible. Under cooked and full of fat. Chef said that's what all rump steaks are like. Wouldn't come back or recommend it.

Beautiful meal on Saturday lunch time. Really loved the toddler menu, perfect size for my 1 year old.

Had my mother's birthday here. The service and food was amazing. Pork belly was to die for. Well done everyone
