Review Hislops Wholefood Cafe - Kaikoura

Wonderful spot to stop at for lunch. Tried the salmon quesadilla and the cacao beef nachos, both were of good quality and the service was good. Nice iced mocha as well. I am yet to try the breakfast menu but they had good looking options. Only downside is that we did not receive water at our table (although we didn't make a request). I would gladly stop here again!

LOVED IT! We went for the nachos and the chicken tostada for lunch and both were gone in the blink of an eye while the kids meals were equally polished off quickly. Good range of local drinks too. Extensive indoor and outdoor sitting - with outdoor both shady and sunny spots - really you cant go wrong!!!!

Great food. Had the eggs Benedict and they were great. The soup of the day was very good and the eggs and avocado where tasty. The fresh juice was a nice addition to our meal.

The best breakfast in Kaikoura, hands down. You know how a lot of places do Eggs Benedict, and you taste them and you just end up with that fatty eggy butter film in your mouth afterwards because the cook never read the bit of the recipe that said to add lemon to the sauce? This is NOT that place. The eggs bene have just the right touch of acid, and the wholefoods/health focus that runs through the food means that every thing is INTERESTING. Each mouthful is different to other cafes, in that good way. The hotcakes are about the flavours of the oats and the fruit, not just cream and maple syrup. The hashbrowns are real, and not just out of a packet. The addition of little things like feta and hot sauce cut through the fatty creaminess of the eggs and balance them out. It's little touches like these, balancing out the food, that makes this the best breakfast in Kaikoura. Make sure to get another coffee, they're GREAT.

A bit pricey, but the food and the service is good. They also have a cosy outdoor which is really good when the sun is out. I ordered an energizer smoothie and the warm beetroot with falafels. Everything was almost perfect. But I dropped a star because unfortunately the carrot cake that I ordered wasn’t really good. I am a huge fan of carrot cakes and I don’t really like when they are revisited.

Big portions and the flavor is there as well! Service is friendly and warm. Awesome brunch for our weekend trip. Will come back again for sure.

Great place for breakfast. The coffee was great. Just the way we drink it. Strong. Food is delicious.

A cafe amongst the container precinct in the middle of Kaikoura town centre. It has a modern decor with fierce timber look and a hip millennial feel throughout this small but cosy space. There is also honey tasting experience run by a local expert and bee enthusiast within this cafe. The location is connected with the outdoor courtyard which is equipped with supersized board games for you to share your IQ with other travellers.

Excellent service and delicious wholesome food! We went for lunch and shared the lentil burger with my sister. The staff were super sweet as they served the burger to us in two plates already cut in half. That was a pleasant surprise and the burger was really tasty. Carrot cake is a must try! The following day we went for breakfast and sat outside, it was a really nice experience. Overall great service and great food, I would highly recommend this place.

What a lovely cafe! Inviting, warm, beautifully laid out restaurant with ample garden + patio space. Excellent service, great coffee, and I had an AMAZING eggs Benedict cooked to perfection with very flavorful ingredients. Can’t recommend them enough! (They even have good WiFi)

Such a fantastic place for coffee and breakfast. The coffee is the best I have had here in NZ (and i love my coffee so that is a compliment!) And the gluten free savory feta and pepper pesto muffin served warm with butter was gorgeous. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Gluten free options are available. Would definitely recommend.
