Review Coopers Catch Kaikoura - Kaikoura

Nice takeaways and good quality food. The fish was particularly tasty and the sausage was a good flavour and huge. Overall a good meal. Car parking could be difficult but having said that it has a great outdoor dining area.

We usually visit this place when visiting Kaikoura. In the off peak periods it's usually the one place guaranteed to be open. Fish meals are pretty good. Batter on fish nice & crunchy & chips look to be hand cut. My order was the dory meal. Fish was small but cooked perfectly & served with lemon & tartare as well as the coleslaw & chips. Very fast & friendly service

We stopped on the way through to Blenheim and so glad we did. The food was exceptional! Legitimately the best fish and chips we might have ever had in our lives. Great tartare as well. Plenty of seating, parking and the order was brought out to us. We can't wait to come back.

Lunch on the way home from Christchurch. Heard it had changed hands, food still as great as ever. Can't beat fish and chips in the sunshine. 👍🎄

10/10 experiece by coopers team here (didnt actually meet that guy), the fish was by far the best snapper iv ever had, in fact it mitve been the best *fish* iv ever had, and thats saying something. Oh and the lemons that we provided were of a quality iv never seen before, they were very ripe and juicy and had the perfect tang to add to the fish. Speaking of fish, the flesh was very tasty itself definatly not too dry and definatly not too oily, in other words 'perfection'. Also of note... the whole atmosphere and vibe of the place was right on point... with the seagulls, the sun, the people and the whole outdoor eating area was very spacious and well kept with music playing through a wall mounted speaker it was just the right amount of atmosphere. The seagulls as mentioned previously, were acctually not being a pain as they usually are... im not sure what they do to them down there but the gulls seem very well-mannered, as far as large annoying birds are concerned. Tis' very fishy ( no pun intended). ...........and yes..... i did just post 4 identical looking photos of exactly the same thing....your welcome.

Fish and chips were great and also tried the seafood chowder which was excellent but slightly salty imo but it went well with the garlic bread. Sadly, no toilet available in this eatery.

The snapper costs a bit more but was excellent and the proportion sizes were generous. It can get busy but the food gets to you eventually and is worth the wait. Recommended!!

Eat there few times, fish(Snapper) and chips are nice but sometimes can be a bit soggy and greasy. If the chips cook 10 seconds more would be perfect. The Snapper is delicious.

Authentic fish & chips. Very nice portions and a big menu and beverages. A lot of seats, nice outdoor area. However one of the employees (on the 6th of May, 2.20pm) was pretty unmotivated and had problems by taking our order. We expected a more customer friendly service.

The place felt very authentic and local. Despite being "fast food" the quality of the food was great and there were many flavours balancing perfectly in the vegetarian burger. I loved how crispy the chips were on the outside and how soft on the inside. Yum!

Yummy Massive chips, excellent service from the friendly staff. Be prepared to wait a while as the line is usually out the door! 2020 edit: returned to the same great service and ordered the monster burger, I thought they were over exaggerating the size but this thing was massive had to take some with me! 2023 edit: arrived in kaikoura too early (2pm ferry) so they were closed sadly.

Standard fish set was delicious! The chips were amazing too! lots of seagulls but that comes with a fish restaurant. If you’re really that bothered, eat inside. The outdoor patio was nice!

Has to be the best fish and chips I’ve ever had, anywhere in the world. Fresh, melt in your mouth fish with a light, crispy batter or breadcrumb. It should be on everyone’s bucket list!

Best fish and chips in a long time!!! Both the chips and fish were perfection... huge portions, great prices.. and FREE tomato sauce and lemon wedges!! Plus there's a menu that could keep literally everyone happy. Very very impressed! Fish and chips for lunch in the sun in Kaikoura is going to be a new favourite thing for me :) :)

Public Holiday and raining. People packed inside and real crowded. Even so the friendly girls serving us with smiles and we never met the chef though I would have loved to bring him/her home with us. The food was excellent! At first I thought to place a side order aswell because the Fish and chips sounded so cheap and it might be a small portion. Wow what a surprise! Could not finish the meal. a big YES from us!

Excellent fish and chips (Blue Cod) the best we have had in New Zealand. Friendly helpful staff. Car parking adjacent. Seating available both inside and out. Long opening hours. Recommend a visit.

Totally disappointed! I was expecting a large grilled blue cod, scoop of chips and mushy peas. The blue cod was far from large more like an extra small, the cold mushy peas were in a tiny broken plastic container, the chips were the positive.

The best fish n chips I have had in my life to date! I highly recommend this place to travellers looking for a great tasting feed of fish n chips, at very affordable prices! $30 fed my family of 5, with plenty to spare! Absolutely sensational! Will definitely be calling in the next time we go through Kaikoura! Awesome!!
