Review Chiwis Cafe - Kaikoura

Simply amazing! The two of us ordered the soup of the day (Pumpkin Soup), Fish of the day and a Spinach/Mushroom/onion omelette. And every dish was so tasty and you can tell they were freshly made. Every dish was perfectly cooked and seasoned and we were very glad we picked this amazing cafe. Definitely recommend to anyone who’s visiting Kaikoura!

We were actually wanting to try the cafe next door to this one for coffee, but it was closed so in to Chiwis we went. Ordered flat white coffee. Was made quickly & came with a double shot. Nicely presented & pleasant service

Best breakfast we've had in NZ so far. Enjoyed the English big breakfast (a proper one!) and excellent spicy chai latte. The mussel pie was pretty good too - would have loved to try the other flavours, unfortunately we came at 9 and they were all sold out save for mussel. For those who drive, there is parking right outside the cafe.

We stopped multiple times. The owner is very welcoming. And good food to match. And if you try something once and go back again, she will most likely remember your preferences! The Latte was always spot on. The quiche was filling. Dumplings tasty and Seafood Chowder another excellent choice. Haven't tried everything, but enjoyed everything we tried. The Crispy Chicken Wrap is another special worth mentioning. Lovely views of the Mount Fyffe Range from front of the Cafe.

Love the pumpkin soup and chinese dumplings. The owner readily offered us vinegar upon request. Very friendly staff and cozy place.

Almond croissant and salmon eggs bene. So fresh with hot smoked salmon and free range eggs. Great range of cabinet food too and house special mussel pies.

Really good food for about the price I expected with friendly staff. Would come here again for a really good breakfast. All of us were satisfied.

Fabulous greeting from New Owner Andrew who makes fresh pies at 5 am daily. The pie pastry is light buttery & the good proportions of steak filling was delicious. Large sausage rolls were appreciated. The chocolate brownies were fabulous & cheaper than other outlets. Never had a better pie ever. Coffee is very fine. Service was fast, shop clean. Public car park across the road in the centre of Kaikoura Central Business Area. So race over and get some soon. Enjoy!! 😃🤩🥧

Dropped in here for a bite to eat. Nice friendly atmosphere with great cake and coffee and tea. On the main road with parking out front. The menu for dining in is really quite nice. Suggest you try this place out I am sure you will not be disappointed.

We wanted to know where to get the best chowder in town and our motel owner recommended us this unassuming little cafe and boy did they live up to expectations! The chowder was thick with generous chunks of fresh seafood and so flavoursome. The ciabatta that came with it was crispy and buttery without being overpowering. We also ordered some good ol’ fish & chips (but instead of chips, I went for the mash), and a mussel pie to go. The fish was fresh and perfectly battered, the mash creamy and I loved that it came with a side of veggies. The mussel pie was gold the next morning too! Would definitely drop in again on our next trip to Kaikoura.
