Review Beachcomber Restaurant - Kaitaia

Very friendly and welcoming staff. Nice large dining area with ample seating. Popular with local residents. The salad bar was a nice treat with fresh vegetables and more unique choices. All made from locally grown produce. I recommend the fish of the day. Perfectly cooked and beautiful presentation. The crème brûlée and cheesecake was a nice finish to the meal. One of the part owners was on site and demonstrated his passion for the business. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Great service. Food was nice, pork belly was a little dry but other than that it was yum. The Salad bar has a lot to choose from, nice fresh vegetables.

We were in town, doing maintenance on our rental. And deserved a night out for dinner! Was the best decision we made. The food was to die for and the service was perfect 🥰 the salad bar was fresh and we loved the croutons. My eye fillet steak was cooked to perfection the sticky date sauce was a killer my taste buds exploded. my virgin Pina colada is my best new 🍸. My partners seafood cocktail was fresh and tasty and his Marlin! Amazing 👏 the best cheesecake base ever! Beachcombers hold onto your Chef! A++ thank you Beachcombers . 😊

What a lovely place to go to! Highly recommend! The food was amazing! No complaints at all! They had a salad bar too! The staff were lovely and kind. Great sense of humor. The atmosphere were inviting and intriguing.

This was my first visit to Beachcomber Restaurant & we were not dissapointed. We were greeted with a warm & friendly smile by the lovely lady at reception. The staff were very friendly, the food arrived fast and was delicious. The food portions were good sizes. The self serving salad bar is great, as you can create your own starter of choice. Was here on my birthday, the restaurant itself is amazing with a complimentary salad bar with your purchase. The staff were friendly and very helpful as we got there just before closing. The food was basic mainly cause I opted for vegetarian dishes but I'm sure the seafood and non-vegetarian options were good. Also the dishes came out a bit salty maybe cause its a mixture of bar food. 4 stars because towards clearing the table the waiting staff who attended us was a bit rude, she obviously didn't understand us when we politely turned away the dessert menu..she assertively asked "say yes or no" which kinda shocked us.

I visited this spot during my Northland trip. We were welcomed by a very friendly staff. I must say, the interiors are great and the ambience was good. The food was amazing and so was the presentation. We had Oysters which was extremely good! Their Salad table had various salad options. My banana ice cream was also yummy. They also had some decent selection of wines. Would definitely visit this place again in my next Northland trip and would highly recommend! Cheers

We had a table for three in the evening. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The food arrived very fast and was excellent. The portion sizes were larger than usual for food of such high standard, which we greatly appreciated. The self serving salad bar was great, too, as everyone was able to create their own starter of choice. We'll gladly go again in the future.

Amazing food! Small town vibes, but not a "from the freezer to the table" style food! Brilliant! Salad bar was a great add-on! If we come back, will def revisit!!

This place is the only place we want to go to. You get the whole package. Awesome front line staff that all make you feel really like you are the only customers. The food is absolutely amazing and the salad bar is the best i have had the pleasure of sampling. AAA+

Great at this place,all the meals were cooked right and everything in the salad bar was so fresh.one of the best salad bars I have seen,if not the best.the staff were real great. And everyone enjoyed the cocktails the man made.be going there again.A+.

Unassuming decor from the outside, but don't let that fool you. We were greeted with fabulous smiles from front of house #manaaki and others. Great selection of mains and specials. After a lengthy internal battle with myself, I ordered the duck for mains and the Pavlova for dessert (+ tamarillo sorbet mmm). Awesome ambiance, food and staff. Will definitely be back more.

Not impressed at all. Salads good but our other food was disappointing. So we go to pay the bill and were asked what our meal was like. We politely told the maitre 'd that some of it was not up to our expectations, only to be argued with that that's how it is served here. What happened to respectful customer service? You asked for our opinion and we gave it to you politely. I have been eating at the Beachcomber for many years and have never had an experience like this.

I don’t think 5 stars is enough From the minute we came in we had the waitress full attention. Very attentive and I love the child friendly environment. The children’s corner ensured our kids were occupied. The first thing I noticed was how clean and well presented it was.The food was exceptional and could literally not fault a single thing. The banana gelato was delicious. After all these years the salad bar still exactly the same.. Thank you for a exceptional experience.

Came in off the street. Friendly staff who care. Great ambiance and an amazing menu. Creme Brûlée as good as you will find anywhere. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful evening at the Beachcomber Restaurant. The food was so delicious! Please check the daily specials at the bord - they are great. The staff was very friendly and gave us good suggestions for the menu. We really enjoyed our dinner and we booked a table for the following evening. For us the best restaurant in the Far North. --- Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Abend im Beachcomber Restaurant mit super leckerem Essen. Die Tages-Specials an der Schiefertafel sind sehr zu empfehlen. Der Service war ausgezeichnet und wir haben uns von Beginn an sehr wohl gefühlt. So wohl, dass wir für den nächsten Abend wieder einen Tisch reservierten. Für uns das beste Restaurant im Far North von Neuseeland.

Great staff, so friendly and great fun. Great food too. The riveter steak and the fish are awesome. Need more of a range of beersies though.

Salad bar was delish but mains were disappointing. Paid $20 for two pieces of flavourless crumbed polenta with tinned tomatoes, a few mushrooms and a handful of spinach.

Poor standard of food poor service 1 1/2 hrs wait for main course and I received raw fish overcooked prawns and oysters that were indescribable .expensive am very disappointed.

Just had a beautiful meal here. My steak was awesome and the staff were wonderful and friendly. If I come back to Kaitaia I'd definitely eat here!!

our waitress was awesome the steak was cooked to perfection but a tad small considering your paying out $36 per person and thats just for the main meal another disappointment was the lighting at our table we couldnt see to read the menu so we asked to be moved so we could see wat we were eating the waitress come back n sed sorry this will have to do an put a candle in front of us if we hadnt ordered we would probly have left

There's not a better restaurant north of Auckland.....or perhaps in all of New Zealand. The food is constantly of excellent quality and the staff is exceptionally friendly and professional. And the salad bar is wonderful. We've been enjoying Beachcombers for 18 years now, so I can confidently use the word "constantly". If you're ever in Kaitaia, don't miss it..
