Review Bushmans Hut Restaurant - Kaitaia

We had a absolutely scrumptious meal, We both had Mignon Fillet Steak wrapped with Bacon and Mushrooms , with seasonal vegetables or choice of salad, They are New owner's, Very lovely owner's and the Chef is from USA specialist in Ribs and Mexican food. She cooks a mean Mignon Steak. Bushmans butt would be the ideal place for birthdays or work functions. We highly recommend this place.

Great atmospheric themed restaurant in a town short of many other excellent dining options. My steak was very fatty, but otherwise a great deal from the specials board. Make sure to check the opening hours, or better still, call ahead as these things are not always kept to very strictly. Best food I've had since moving to NZ. Not disappointed at all. Good door, drink and service. I'm really pleased. Prices are fair you get allot of food. One kids meal will feed 3 kids.

Lovely meal, vg value and so pleased we tried it tonight. The roast lamb rump and scallops mornay were both excellent!

It was the third day in country, and we had been on the road for most of the day. Accidentally discovered this great local restaurant. I had the ribs, which I had to rate as one of the three best rib dinners in my life. The beer selection is ample. Service was fine and I thought the staff were very friendly. I will admit, it is a bit off the beaten track, but if you are driving through on Highway 1, this is the place to rest and have dinner.

Nice place, nice food, quite spacey. The toilet is adds to the character of the place. There is a bar, lounge area and outside eating area as well. The only thing is the pricey meal, but I do believe that just eating the appetizers made me full as already. I barely made it through my main dish which was chicken breast with potatoes under it and cheese on top. My date and I were literally bloated, with food up to our throats. Not much dessert choices though, to my disappointment. Nice atmosphere though! Warm place with smiley, yet insincere waitresses (perhaps it was because they had been working for hours, though)

Awesome service, made sure our drinks were topped, very polite. Food was delicious and there wasn't a long wait. Compliments to the chef and co. Also very reasonable on the pocket. Thanks bushies!!!

A great place for lunch, not a huge lunch menu but well cooked and great value for money. Fish & Chips with salad is excellent. Not a big salad but has everything in it. I will be going again. Also open for dinner but I haven't tried that yet.

Best restaurant in Kaitaia. Great selection of meat, pasta, and seafood. The Bushmans Hut Platter has a bit of everything. Drinks are a good price too.

Went here on a whim and was impressed with both service and the food. The fish was spectacular. Nice spot.. worth a visit and the staff were great with our toddler

Interesting eating place with indoor and outdoor options. Staff friendly. Went at Christmas party time and service was still quick..food choices very good.

Ordered scotch fillet and fish of the day, which were perfectly seasoned and cooked. Friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Friendly staff and good atmosphere, the vegitarian tortilla was served with salsa and salad, and it was delicious. Very reasonably priced

A bit pricey but we (2) shared a delicious seafood platter. Dessert was a yummy date pudding.

Had a lovely meal with the family at Bushmans Hut recently. <br/><br/>Entree's were nice, mains were huge and tasted good. Yum cocktails.<br/><br/>Mexican mince tasted like maggi sachet mix and the desert menu is not worth looking at.<br/><br/>All in all would go back and recommend to friends :-)<br/><br/>Better value for money than Beachcomber and the mains are yum at both (bigger at Bushmans), just need better deserts :-)

The Bushman's Hut is well presented and spacious. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Upon looking at the menu and seeing the prices our expectations were instantly high. For example, approx $39 for a steak. Unfortunately the food fell well short of our expectations. For example, the Mussel land Kumura chowder starter did not taste much of mussels. It was a large but a very bland dish. It resembled kumura puree and was not creamy. The presence of many deep fried items (eg. onion rings, deep fried scallops) in the menu are more befitting of a take-away shop rather than a restaurant charging restaurant prices. The pot pie was dry and the pastry used in it did not appear to be freshly made. The creme caramel dessert was a let down. The so called "berries" were some sickly sweet strawberries which seemed to come out of a tin. Overall, large portions but a menu that lacked quality for the prices being charged.

Been home now for 3yrs and have never stepped a foot in here until yesterday, we thought why not. Anyway in we stepped with awesome customer service, the area was comfortable and welcoming, we had king prawns salad and oysters premo, we walked away with big smiles...and guess what we went back today oysters and steak big ups chef awesome...what dressing is that that comes with the oysters? Please would love to know. Awesome staff, this will definitely be a must lunch stop for us and our family. Thanks Bushmans

Great service, Friendly staff, Had main and dessert (King Prawns and Creme Caramel) The desert was the only let down for me, Presentation of both courses was nice but the dessert fell short for me, other than that it was a very enjoyable experience with a nice setting.

Great positive service and excellent entertainment, I love their food but my nana who lives in Kaitaia says that someone else is going to buy it so I hope it stays as it is, it's a five star restaurant :)

SURF AND TURF!<br/><br/>OMG! This place is fantastic, i look forward to coming back again. The steak was served to us sizzling and it was cooked to perfection. Accompanied by a ice cold glass of beer this was the ultimate night for me and my staff. Thanks for your hospitality.

Though I have not personally eaten here I have heard many rave reviews so I am looking forward to checking it out when I am in town.
