Stopped to grab a takeaway on the way to Paihia and, hot dang, their steak and jalapeno pie is A.W.E.S.O.M.E !
What a fantastic idea to infuse standard beef steak pie with the mild heat of Jalapeno!
It's surely the best beef pie i have had in NZ to date.
You may not agree but that's ok - i'll quote one of my sayings :

Update : went back 2 more times on the same trip. Tried the fried chicken this time - so good i didn't think of photos until it was all gone LOL.

Best bacon butty I’ve had in a long time! I asked for crispy bacon and that’s what I got in a lovely brioche bun. Perfect before catching my flight back to Christchurch! Lovely service too.
Stopped at the first cafe we found on the way home this afternoon for a coffee which happened to be Konnies Kafe in Kawakawa and boy are we happy we did. Had a super friendly chat with one of tge staff members who was very welcoming, friendly and helpful and got 2 delicious coffess also. Bonus is there are 6 different takeaway cup sizes including a huge 20oz quad shot which will be amazing for early morning starts plus they have a large range of syrup flavors. So excited we found this place and will definitely stop there on our next trip through.

The fried bread with the kiwi breakfast was an absolute delicacy!
And the loaded wedges were well and truly loaded. A nice change to not have to ask for extra sour cream. Haha.
The coffee is actually not too bad either for those who like to get a coffee when out.
Definitely recommend.

I have never had so much bacon with my wedges and soar cream. I only just managed to get through. A very generous portion.

Stopped here for lunch on the way from Okaihau to Tauranga and very pleased we did. Delicious food and a huge selection of hot or cold plus a perfect flat white. Super friendly staff made it a great place to "fuel up".
Delicious cheese scones and savoury muffins were had. Good coffee and hot chocolate too. Handy location to watch the passersby before continuing a journey.
Eggs bene and hash sticks were both excellent!

The filled rolls were stuffed to overflowing with fresh produce and fresh bread. Hot chocolate was huge. Very good value for money.
