Review Skipping Stone Cafe - Kilbirnie

My second time here and it was delightful like the first time. The first thing I noticed was how they thought of customer comfort first. The friendly reminder on the door to keep it shut to keep the warmth in to the heaters that gently pump out warmth. The place is clean and tidy. The service is warm and friendly. Good time made for what we ordered. The food absolutely delicious. I note they knew customers names - this speaks of how they must come regularly. I liked that. Nice display of food in the food cabinet. Very enjoyable place to stop at before heading out of town.

Just called in for a quick bite. Great place and wait staff. Well done team, nice Hot Chocolate and French toast.

Great friendly service goes a long way. The decor is unremarkable and the food may not be spectacular but attentive staff and top notch coffee is more than enough to satisfy most diners.

Best coffee in NZ! Went for lunch today and when the server saw my disappointed face at the small coffee (a mistake made when I ordered) they soon brought me what I wanted- a truly JUMBO coffee that was delicious. Eggs Benny was a solid choice and my daughter loved the Mickey Mouse. Highly recommend!

Great service, breakfast food has a good balance between quality and quantity. And reasonably priced. Been back a few times now. Well worth the visit.

Such a beautiful little cafe! Great decor, and tables are arranged so you're not squished against other customers. The staff are lovely and the food was amazing and came out really quickly. Great menu selection and also a large cabinet to choose from.

I wish I'd found this cafe earlier this year. What a great place to go before work. It opens at 7am, the cabinet is full, scones and muffins fresh and ready, smiling staff and gentle background music so you can chill out or chat with a friend without being drowned out. Definitely recommend

Found this place by accident while strolling by and getting dragged by the soft and relaxing athmosphere thet the venue radiates. I decided to go for the soup of the day (pumpkin) and vegetarian pie and enjoyed every bite. A very nice and relaxing experiance for the price! I highly recomend this place when yoy are looking for a relaxing lunch/brunch.

I saw the reviews via TripAdvisor 👓+ Google Reviews and decided to get lunch @skippingstonecafe. The eatery is popular for our locals and is situated around the Bay Road shopping center, Kilbirnie.<br/><br/>Berry Friand $4.20 🍰 and Chai Latte ☕️$5<br/>The Berry Friand was decent, It was soft and easy to cut into. I would have like to had more berry pieces in the friand or even a liquid/runny berry coulis. This way, I can take the sweetness from the berry + cake and not just the cake.<br/><br/>Chai Latte was nicely presented with a neat decoration to top it off. Good balance of spices from the cardamon and the sweetness from the milk🥛+ sugar. Did the job and was happy with the beverage.<br/> <br/>Vegetable Frittata $8.90<br/>I was happy to get a nice, big slice of frittata. It had a good mix of pumpkin 🎃, carrots 🥕, potato 🥔, and a bit of spinach that were well cooked. The frittata, however, did not have much seasoning, but I sorted that out with some salt🧂+ pepper and sweet chilli sauce. Also, the texture was a bit dry to cut into, maybe make the eggs slightly more runny and creamy with some more milk/cream.<br/><br/>Mushroom 🍄and Halloumi Burger 🍔with Fries🍟$16.90<br/>The dish has a neat, classic presentation with the fries and the burger looked appealing to dig into. The bun was toasted enough to give the burger a good crunch. Had the right thickness and balance between the halloumi cheese and mushroom + veggies. Maybe just a touch more mayo, but overall, I enjoyed the dish and was worth the money.<br/><br/>Final Words<br/>I had a peaceful experience at @skippingstonecafe . The eatery is busy and compact but had a casual vibe welcomed by locals of all age groups. I will definitely be keen to visit again and try out their Asian/chicken salads + another slice of cake and a hot beverage to go. Peace out✌🏽👍🏽

Great place to have lunch on a summer day. Decor is fresh, staff are welcoming, plus yummy food and coffee! Recommend the iced mocha or smoothies

A pleasant enough cafe, lots of tables to accommodate their patrons on a busy lunch period. <br/>I unfortunately ordered the pancakes but they were not freshly made they were frozen pre bought pancakes and just toasted up.<br/>Yuck.<br/>But everyone else's food was decent. Just don't order the pancakes.

The chicken salad here tastes good but the yolk is watery😥 and I will try hamburger or yogurt smoothie next time. The space here is a little crowded.

Best coffee in Kilbirnie!<br/>Well priced items and coffee is a must!<br/>Cabinet food is tasty aswell as menu food.<br/>Not much to offer but just enough to cover the bases. Staff are always lovely and helpful and nice cafe near the end of the shops.

My favourite little cafe! Go there almost every weekend, best curly fries in welly. Their coffee is amazing and the chocolate marshmallow heart tops it all off :)

Had their $6 scone and coffee special, coffee is the best in Kilbirnie by far and the scone too was fresh and yummy. The place is well decorated and the staff are friendly. Would definitely return.

Been here for lunch a few times with different people and every time has been fantastic. Burger meals very moreish and love the presentation. Coffee is great, service is excellent by the very friendly and welcoming staff. Great menu range, curly fries a must try, nice cosy cafe. <br/>Price is what you pay, value us what you get!<br/>

Been there several times with my kids since its openning several months ago. A small but well and tastefully docorated cafe. Owner operators are friendly and responsive. Foods are reasonably priced too. My children especilally like their kid meal sets which are well presented.
