Review Floating Rock Cafe - Kuratau

Great little spot we stopped at while exploring the area to get out of the rain. Our favorite wine was the Pinot gris- it was excellent! We also got a pizza which was made in the oven outside.

Overall a 4.8 star review, the texture and crunch of the fries was unreal! Nailed it! Could do with a touch less salt, especially as the bowl goes down. The aoli was delicious. The henhouse pizza was very authentic, super thin base, charred edges, and a light but flavourful arrangement of toppings. Again nailed it. The lake man beer was a great accompaniment. Our hosts were friendly and relaxed making a great dinning experience.

Absolutely love our visits to Floating Rock every time we come to Turangi. The pizzas are delicious, love the personal atmosphere and the wee dog💜. Coffee and cakes are also great during the day too. It’s tucked away in a gorgeous spot. Well worth the trip from Turangi. Thanks so much Sarah and the rest of the team. 🙏😊 gluten free option was soo good.

Wow, pizzas were SO delicious, the gluten free base was also really good too. Great atmosphere, I can imagine in Summertime, the place would be amazing too!

For the only Cafe in the area, it's not bad. Good selection of local wines and beers but the food selection is lacking and with only pizza and a few other items available makes it a bit limited. The Pizzas were very tasty but as they are made on a flat base with limited toppings wasn't filling and the cost is premium. Overall, nice to pop in for a change but not somewhere you would visit often at the price point.

We kayaked up the Kuratau river to floating rock the night before our wedding with some of our party. Sarah and her team churned out delicious pizzas, had a great selection of lakeman beers and local wine and put on a great party! Will definitely be back! Thanks again!
