Review Hawea Hotel - Lake Hawea

We went for dinner and had the fish and chips, chicken ceasar salad. The service was exceptional. The food terrific. I enjoyed the locally brewed pilsner. Fantastic! Thanks Chase for such perfect recommendations.

Excellent hotel. Stayed here for a night as part of a long road trip. We booked a room with a view and were not disappointed with a balcony with a stunning view of the lake and mountains. The room had contemporary decor and well equipped with kettle, fridge and a good range of tea bags, coffee, chocolate etc. Free parking available at the front door. The bathroom was also very modern with powerful shower, giant mirror and lots of hot water. Had dinner in the hotel restaurant/bar at the hotel, which although not cheap was great quality with very friendly service. The hotel is at the end of a small village so genuinely pretty rural. The beach is nice but beware of walking along the along the beach rocks back to the hotel as they go on a very long way! The buildings look a little run down on the outside but don’t let that put you off. Overall an excellent friendly great value hotel in an idyllic location. Highly recommended

Easy cheap convenient for our drive up the west coast. Fantastic view, only negative is no breakfast facilities at all, no microwave in the room but restaurant not open.

Rooms were clean and very well priced. The bathroom facilities are quite old. The view out the front of the hotel is incredible. Unfortunately, we were informed the kitchen would close at 830 to 845, and after arriving a little after 8 for dinner, they told us the kitchen had closed early. In terms of value for money it's 5/5.

My wife and I stayed in a vacation rental in Lake Hawea for ten days and we ate here every night they were open during that time. We wish we could take this restaurant and the staff back home with us to Hawaii. We ordered most of the items on their menu and were consistently astonished with how delicious and beautifully presented everything was. The staff got to know us quickly and made us feel like family. They make it hard to leave this lovely town. Thank you!

Went for a weekend lunch. We had fish and chips with a garlic bread and they were both delicious! Comfy, great kai, lovely service and a wee game of pool.

We loved staying here. The outside is pretty old but the room was spacious and perfect for our family of 6 and the views just topped it off. Absolutely stunning. The lady's at the reception were wonderful and we very grateful for being told about being careful on our drive back due to some accidents on the road. We will definitely be back.

Really exceeded expectations. Great value, amazing location. Eatery had a great vibe and felt luxurious. Amazing dinner and portions. Desserts were a little hit and miss. Wish we could stay longer.

Wonderful views and the food was very good too. They had a great desert menu and my bread and butter pudding was delicious. My dinner dish (grilled fish) was also nicely cooked, fresh and tasty.

Absolutely loving this place a lot ! The view , the space, the atmosphere... After a hassel of bring a whole family with kids and baby for a longggg road trip I finally could enjoy staying in a really nice clean hotel with a great restaurant! ( and surprisingly, the price of this hotel is the cheapest amongst all the motel/ holiday park I have booked for this trip ) Reception and staffs are very friendly and truely helpful. We are so lucky that the restaurant opened the night we stayed. As their food are AMAZING. Thank you Hāwea for giving us such a beautiful memory. Love this place , so glad I have made a decision to add this as our resting spot.

We made a day trip to Lake Hawea and stopped in for a late lunch. The service was great and the food was excellent! We'll definitely go back!

Had dinner at the Hawea hotel We ordered the calamari, then mains were venison and the pork belly. Absolutely delicious! We were really impressed with the great quality and taste and also great service Would highly recommend for dinner. We booked to ensure we’d get a table

As a local I don't need accommodation however the food and atmosphere are great, and that view cannot be beaten!

Family rooms are very spacious , set over two floors with stunning views across the lake. As mentioned when booking they are a bit dated but very clean and comfortable and the views more than compensate for a bit of retro decor.

Had such a lovely stay - wonderful views !! Amazing bed and food and service excellent. Thankyou 😀 will be back
