Review Blue Lake Eatery & Bar - Lake Tekapo

One of the most fantastic restaurants in the area. Attentive and fantastic staff. Food was delicately prepared and delicious, you can taste the passion for the food in each bite. We had buffalo cauliflower, which was seasoned perfectly. The duck breast was tender and paired amazingly with a parsnip puree and the lamb shank was warm butter tender. Overall a tremendous dinner and the drinks are great to top it off. The bar attached is a great place to get warm and have a good drink too.

My partner and I chose this venue by random and it did not disappoint! The service was fantastic and helped with recommendations, and the staff were friendly throughout the entire night. Our food was exceptional and the wait time between entrees and mains was just enough to allow for a small rest. Would very much recommend getting the share platter as it caters to many tastes. The drinks menu was extensive and the custom cocktails that they crafted were absolutely delicious. All in all I will refer others to eat here if they stay in Lake Tekapo as it was a wonderful experience.

This was an amazing find! A bunch of us shared a few sharing platters which was good value for the price. There was a huge lamb shank, one slice of a venison and an entire piece of the stuffed squid. The sides were all also prettily plated and the chef executed everything perfectly. It was an amazing meal and I highly recommend this place.

Had an exceptional dinner here with my partner. Cannot fault the service, staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was spectacular, we started with the Zangi chicken - juicy inside, crunchy exterior with a tasty sauce, and the Soup of the Day - a tomato based seafood soup, the flavour in the base was well rounded and the seafood was perfect. Had the share platter, which is a must if you can't make your mind up like us! Three well-portioned dishes in the one; lamb shank, venison, and salmon. Topped it all off with some incredible cocktails and finished with a shared dessert dish unlike anything I've tried before. Highly recommend a stop if you are visiting Lake Tekapo.

The food was great! The starter and main course were excellent and the portions were perfect too! Our wine was also delicious and the perfect temperature. The service was friendly despite the place being very full. Thank you very much! However, it is obvious that more staff is needed.

A really nice meal here, great depth of flavours. Staff were super friendly and helpful. A wee bit pricey but we enjoyed the food and experience. Desert was a nice surprise!

We had dinner at Blue Lake - and was extremely satisfied with the meals. The three of us took a shared a platter, had a blue cheese - pear salas and fries. The chef did great & service was excellent, accommodating our wishes within seconds.

Popular place here for a good eat at Lake Tekapo. We had to make a reservation for the next day as it was already fully booked the day we arrived. Nevertheless it was worth it. Ordered the lamb shank and the Stuffed Squid. The lamb shank was quite a a large portion. Both meals turned out to be quite delicious and we both enjoyed our meals. Service is fast despite being fully booked for the evening again. Saw some last minute customers who had to be turned away as they didn’t have reservations. Highly recommended indeed if you are here at Lake Tekapo.

One of the few eateries in the area that opens till late. Best to make a reservation in advance to avoid disappointment. We didn’t reserve but were very lucky to be squeezed in at around 8pm. The food was delicious!! We ordered mushroom croquettes, gnocchi, chef’s special (grilled fish) and mulled wine. Portions were generous and the chef’s special was especially tasty. The staff were friendly and accommodating.
