Review Ramen Tekapo - Lake Tekapo

Very good prices and excellent food!! We were lucky and did not need to wait long for a table - the restaurant provides water. You will to order at the counter and food gets served fairly quickly - we had pork gyoza, fried rice with pork and Tom gha chicken, which were all wonderful on a chilly evening ( we came in early spring - end september). On our way out, we saw several tables with ramen bowls that were half eaten, so our guess is that their Thai food (which we ate) were superior to their Japanese ramen. ๐Ÿ˜…

Our visit to Ramen Tekapo left us thoroughly impressed with the quality and taste of their food. The Laksa Chicken dish was a true standout, with its aromatic and flavorful broth that perfectly complemented the tender chicken and fresh vegetables. The Red Curry Chicken was equally remarkable, boasting a delightful balance of spice and creaminess. Accompanied by fragrant rice, every bite was a delight. The portion sizes were generous, ensuring we left the restaurant feeling fully satisfied. The presentation of the dishes was visually appealing, showcasing the attention to detail that went into their preparation. It was evident that the chefs at Ramen Tekapo have a deep understanding of Thai cuisine and how to bring out the best flavors in each dish. The service we received was friendly and attentive. The staff members were knowledgeable about the menu and provided helpful recommendations based on our preferences. They ensured that our dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish. Ramen Tekapo truly captures the essence of authentic Thai cuisine. The combination of bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and skilled craftsmanship in the kitchen sets this restaurant apart. It is a must-visit for anyone craving a memorable dining experience. Whether you're a fan of laksa or red curry, Ramen Tekapo delivers dishes that will leave you craving more. The attention to detail, delicious flavors, and warm service make this restaurant a top choice for Thai food enthusiasts. Don't miss the opportunity to savor their delightful offerings during your visit.

Busy Ramen restaurant, ramen is great , but a little bit too salty. But itโ€™s good for a Japanese restaurant in New Zealand.

Acceptable waiting time (~30m) during the peak hour 6-7pm. We ordered Spicy Miso Ramen, Gyoza, takoyagi, Chashu Ramen and Red Curry w rice. Chashu ramen was definitely the best dish. If i ever come back to this restaurant, definitely will order the Chashu Ramen again! Perfectly made ramen soup with the sesame aroma. The boiled pork melted in your mouth and it's one of the best feeling in your mouth. The texture of the meat was exceptional. Gyoza has the Japanese authenticity and sure it us one of the must tried! Unfortunately the red curry was too sweet (we are thai) for us and it needs a lot of improvement. Unless, this dish can sell to the non-thai customer. I am not recommending it at all. The restaurant has a Japanese style deco and it suits the store.

The sashimi was incredible, and the rest of the food was very good except the squid. The squid was a little bit of a let down, very rubbery. Otherwise awesome restaurant in a very beautiful location

Stop through here on your way from Mt. Cook to Christchurch. Honestly, some of the best takoyaki I have ever had. they use a smaller diameter pan which improves the crisp to filling ratio. The Laksa was good and fairly traditional, Malaysian variant I believe. The soup part of it was noteworthy and well balanced. The pad Thai was just OK. This place was hopping! Definitely a known spot, but the staff was friendly, accommodating, and moved quickly.we got seated in 30 minutes, ordered at the counter, and were served 15 minutes later the atmosphere was loud and bright. we sat by the front door, which was freezing as guests left it open all the time. the staff warned us, but there weren't any other seats

Besides Japanese and Korean cuisine, we also tried the Thai food here. I personally think that the Thai food was good. The fried rice with chicken and the phad Thai were nicely done. The chicken tomyam soup was flavourful and appetizing.

Tried their tonkotsu ramen ( added extra egg and cha su) and pork/cha su fried rice. Food was very flavoursome, however might be slightly salty to come. The cha su was surprisingly well marinated, tender and the fat was so soft, and kinda melts in your mouth. The chef seems to be a Japanese too. Not too bad considering that its at Lake Tekapo.

Great chashu ramen, and the chashu was so thick and delicious!! A little gem in Lake Tekapo
