Review Tlv Restaurant & Bar - Lake Tekapo

This place is absolutely fantastic. The view of the lake and mountains from the patio is outstanding. If you want to sit inside make a reservation. The food is beyond amazing. Probably the best venison steak and salmon fillet I've ever had. The wait staff were great and very attentive. The beer and wine selection is great(more so the wine than the beer)and the prices for the drinks were fair.

One of the best place to dine (in the evening) as it is nicely located by the lake. If weather permits, one can dine and star gaze at the same time. We arrived into Lake Tekapo late in the evening and by the time we checked into our hotel, It was almost quarter to 9pm. The hotel (Grand Suites) highly recommended us to dine at TLV and helped us make a reservations as the (TLV) kitchen was closing soon. WE rushed and managed to arrive just before 9 pm and we were well received by the staff. We weren't rushed into ordering our food and the staff took time to walk us though the menu. The atmosphere in the restaurant is warm and pleasant. I ordered the Chilli Garlic Prawns, and garlic bread and my friend ordered the Pasta. All dishes were tasty and delicious. The restaurant is location behind the Lake Tekapo Village and by the lake. Not that difficult to find. After dining, one can take a stroll by the lake and/or star gaze. We had a fun chat with Bryan (or Brian) and the check-out. Thank you for your lovely service, and making our dining experience an unforgettable and delightful one. To add, lots of parking space so, .. :)

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a delightful lunch with friends at TLV in Lake Tekapo, and I must say, it was an absolute treat for the senses. The food and drinks we ordered were simply beautiful, bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. From the moment we placed our order, the dishes arrived promptly, allowing us to indulge in a satisfying meal without any unnecessary delays. What truly impressed me, however, was the exceptional service provided by the staff at TLV. They were not only friendly and welcoming, but also attentive to our needs throughout the entire dining experience. Their warm and pleasant demeanor added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal, making us feel valued as customers. I found the prices at TLV to be quite reasonable, especially considering the generous portions we received. Overall, I highly recommend TLV with its delicious food, attentive staff, and fair prices, this establishment truly stands out as a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts.

We liked this place so much that we visited two nights in a row! Staff was very friendly and attentive, making sure we had blankets as the night got colder and always checking in. The kitchen was a little slow but the servers let us know they were down a chef. Honestly we were enjoying ourselves so much it didn’t really matter! Great wine list and amazing menu. The salmon entree is just incredible. So is the shrimp and salad starter. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area and the view of Lake Tekapo at sunset is awesome!

Excellent food and service. The Mt Cook Salmon is a particular stand-out - generously portioned and done so well. The hazelnut crumbing is divine, and the accompaniments of the garlic prawns, roasted potatoes and salad compliment the dish perfectly. The eye fillet is good as well, as are the soup of the day and the duck liver pate. The smoked chocolate tart is interesting as we’ve not tried smoked chocolate before, but also enjoyable. Portions here are generous for the price so remember to bring your appetite. We were promptly served with a smile and made to feel welcome and comfortable the entire time we were here, even though the restaurant was busy. Also - the restaurant is aptly named. It’s a wonderful experience to dine with a view of the lake and the mountains before you. This is one of the most enjoyable dinners we’ve had on our trip, and we would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Lake Tekapo.

Just had the most amazing meal, perfectly cooked meat, beautiful flavours and fresh produce! Followed by an equally delicious desert! Highly recommended! Cocktails and wine was good too ☺️

Do yourself a favour and try do a reservation via google even if you are dinning in a few hours time. Restaurant is packed and many walk-ins were rejected. We had the eye fillet and Mt Cook Salmon and both dishes were executed very well. Dishes were well balanced, flavourful, and colourful. The prawns served at the side with the salmon was really good too and has the potential to be a main on its own (you can top up the shrimp with an additional $10. We didn’t add the option but I would do it the next time I visit). Service crew were very attentive and friendly and the dishes were served quite fast. The restaurant manages to turn tables fast and it was quite nice to watch how efficient it was on the front of house. Lastly, the restaurant has great ambience and frontage of Lake Tekapo. Overall, one of our better meals in NZ so far. Pricing is on the higher side so expect to pay up to $50 per pax.

We had a lovely wedding anniversary dinner on 23 Apr. It was a pretty packed evening but we were well taken care of throughout the evening. All the staff were very warm, welcoming and professional. Thanks for accommodating my dietary allergy. Special thanks to Tina for the wonderful service. She’s definitely a great asset to this establishment with her enthusiasm and passion in her service delivery!

Delicious food! We shared the prawns for entree and then had the duck and lamb for mains. We were both very satisfied and couldn't fit dessert in. Quite pricey, but worth it. Good attentive staff. Can definitely recommend TLV for dinner.

Indeed a great restaurant - sit inside or outside (no reservations for outside so your chance if you have not booked a table ahead) and enjoy splendid views plus great food and ver attentive and professional service. All our dishes were great - seared local salmon as entre again great as was the spicy garlic prawns … followed by a a excellently cooked lamb rack and eye filet. If you still have room then we recommend the „kiwi mess“ as desert - a great combination of flavors between kiwi, sorbet, Joghurt … really cool So head there and book ahead ! And great cocktails you get there too…

On our arrival here from 3 hour drive from Chc Airport AND 10 hour flight from Singapore... This place was a God send. Staff were SO FRIENDLY...ALL of them! It made our tiredness go away. The food, ahh the food. Sorry whilst I try to recall the taste but still dreaming of it's gloriousness. 🤤 Cannot say anything bad about the food. All were good and the beef... *Homer Simpson moment* hhmmmm bbeefff The seafood chowder was also omg legit. The salmon was so fresh you can almost imagine they just caught it 30 minutes ago! And there was that pork belly dish. Slap me silly and call me aunty... Literally melts in your mouth, like just really, the meat just disintegrated in my mouth 🤔 it was that well made. Good people, good place and good food, we love this place. To us, this place was inexpensive for all that it is.

We were looking for a decent restaurant open on a Sunday as most are closed in Tekapo and it is heavily pouring. I came to find this in google and it seems new. I spoke to the manager and found they just open this year Feb 2022. I would rate the service and hospitality as exceptional, food is amazing. We ordered pork belly burger and it is yummy! We will definitely come back when we return to Tekapo. Interior, dining and bar is greatly designed.

Amazing dinner here on our flying visit through Tekapo. The staff were working double time to make sure they could seat and feed any patrons that came to the door, as a lot of other restaurants in town weren’t open that might. The service we received from the head waiter and his staff was top class, we were never left waiting long for a drink too or or check in on the meals. The food was spectacular, we recommend the the duck and the cocktails! Will be coming again on our next visit.

Is there another restaurant with a good atmosphere and delicious food like this? To be honest, I was surprised when I took a bite. If you come to New Zealand again next year, this is a restaurant you must come back to! Save to my bucket list!

Excellent diner in Lake Tekapo! Dessert was a surprise with different flavors and structures. Garlic bread was simple but very tasty. The two mains were also very good.

Reserved a table online and was subsequently seated in a nice corner sofa. The staff was very warm and welcoming. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We had Creamy Green Pea soup, Fettuccine pasta and Panna Cotta.
