Review Benedicts Cafe - Lower Hutt

Very nice little spot on top of Maungaraki hill with a brilliant view. Had poached eggs (x4) on 2 pieces of their house bread, a Berry smoothie (for hydration) and a large mocha (for wakefullness). The lovely ladies (and gents) accommodated all of my requests and even let my brother in the door to return my HSV jacket I left behind at his place😎.

Quality old fashioned with a modern twist food. Coffee roasted onsite, they also sell fresh farm milk in bottles and the tastiest freshest eggs from the Wairarapa. Plus, they're a convenient post shop, with a kids playground out the back to keep your little ones entertained while you enjoy a quick break 😁

This is really a sweet gem of a cafe. Always a lovely selection of fresh well presented food.

Great cafe that doubles as the community post shop. The cafe has great coffee and food, and while you wait, can watch the kids enjoy the play area with a wide array of toys. Fun for everyone, and the staff are helpful enough to help you out when you find that you need a second set of hands. Bathroom comes complete with a change table and sanitary pail for when your young child does number two while you wait for your coffee. Certainly parent friendly and a great place to meet up with friends with kids.

Perfect kid friendly space with great people around. Recommend to all parents who want to relax without worrying about their kids

They'll substitute gluten free gf bread in most of their things, making it a really easy place for a celiac. And the kids loved the bottomless pancakes on Saturday mornings

Lovely little place. Nice food. Reasonable prices - it's not cheap but it's fine. Great under 8yo kids area. Staff are kind and friendly, thankyou.

This is a great cafe of you have little ones. The play area is great and has an abundance to toys. The food is amazing. Today I had the French toast and it was sublime. My husband had the half serve of big breakfast and was blown away. Would totally reccomend coming here. Great food, great for kids play and lovely staff.

Located beautifully however a bit expensive comparatively. Best thing is that they've got kids play area within the premises so you don't need to be worried about the kids while enjoying the sitting there. Further the washroom there has also got all the necessities you may need to change the nappy of your kids which I never spotted anywhere else.

The coffee is great. The Atmosphere is awesome The friendly staff brighten up your day. All in all a great place to hang out and the food is good.

Great location good size cafe. Awesome for parents to bring their kids with toys and a mini playground inside. Yummy food and good food for kids too! People without kids if wanted to be away from play area can sit at front of cafe well away from kids.

Love this place. Excellent for families, great for young kids with a small play area. Prices are low to medium. All you can eat pancakes are awesome $5 kids and $10 adults. Great selection of finger foods plus a great menu.

We have been there a few occasions and we’ve never had a good experience regarding their food. I can say that they do have consistency in serving bland food and slow service.

I only give this cafe 3 stars due to how child friendly it is - 2 play areas for baby’s and toddlers -and cheap for the all you can eat pancakes on a Saturday - when I feel like pancakes and treating the kids, at $10 for an adult and only $5 for kids this is worth driving up the hill for for me. However while I like the large thin type of pancakes they make, they can tend to burn them often and the toppings that come with the plate initially are sparse; I would like more banana! You’re left with only sweet options such as syrups and cream for any further servings. <br/><br/>The rest of the menu is average at best; have had some weird questionable poached eggs on occasion and the hollandaise really is gross, but the coffee is nice when made by the right barista. All in all would only recommend going here for the pancakes or maybe a toastie, and don’t expect too much from the food and service especially when they’re busy.

The Owner/Manager Michael Leach is rude and lazy. The breakfast is a ‘dogs breakfast’, revolting hollandaise sauce, extremely slow service (30-minutes) with no other customers, and the most expensive ‘extra large’ coffee i have ever come across at $6.20 which is only medium/large size and was too hot. Avoid at all costs.

5.7.2017 - Thursday night dinner. <br/><br/>Brought with me two friends one from Canada and one from Hamilton for dinner out. <br/>The meals we ordered took way tooooooo long for our meals to come out, also were asked to change our meals not once but three times. <br/>After over an hour waiting, one of our meals (Ravioli) had a hair in it ( maybe off a woollen jumper?) The ravioli also had a thick layer of oil on it-not very appetising. It was very obvious that our meals were the last to be made even watching other customers coming in to dine in were served well before us and was the last customers in the cafe still eating. <br/><br/>I am a local and was not impressed. Was a let down to be honest. <br/><br/>Drinks tho - very well made.

It is always clean and tidy and the changes over the years have been fantastic to see. Food is always fresh and yummy! Atmosphere is always friendly and busy! Very kid friendly with a great area fpe the little ones to play while parents catch up with friends over codfee and a bite. The staff is always friendly and accomodating.

Kid friendly cafe. Been there a couple of times and food is always fresh. Very filling and the staff have always been nice and friendly with all our interaction with them.

I have no idea why these people are in hospitality.  Rude and lazy.  Although the food can be nice at times the cafe is let down by its owner

As this is the closest cafe to my home, I come here quite often for coffees and or meals. The food is always fresh and tasty and the staff are very friendly. There can be a lot of charente running around, but the place is so big that they are not a distraction

I come here often for a takeaway coffee, or to meet other Mummy friends & make use of the great play area for the kids.<br/>The last two times I've been & ordered my coffee - it has taken 15-20 minutes (they were not that busy when I've arrived), and people who have ordered AFTER me have received their coffees first. They seem to favour the more regular customers that they know by name! <br/>If the coffee beans they used were more spectacular & they did treat their customers as equals, I would make Benedicts my regular. I can't see that changing anytime soon, however.<br/>The play area & posting services is currently the only reason why I go back (if I do)... <br/>

Worst breakfast I ever had. <br/><br/>Eggs benedict featuring the WORST hollandaise sauce I've ever had in my life. Very much like eating agglomerated egg yolk - dark yellow and stodgy. <br/><br/>Serving staff also had no clue as they served the same dish to a couple who arrived after us, and then ran around wondering where the next one should go.<br/><br/>"All you can eat pancakes" were ridiculous as well - we had to wait 25 minutes for the FIRST serving, while others got refills long before. Surely this isn't the way to do things?<br/><br/>When I asked to speak to the manager, he deemed himself too busy to talk and would not even give me the respect of coming over to talk to me face to face, and instead hid behind his terrible kitchen.<br/><br/>I will NEVER go back ever again. I feel ripped off and we will be going back to complain and hopefully get our money back.

Oh boy, this place is the BEST for little onez BUT also for parents too who want to be able to RELAX while they eat with their bubbies! <br/>Loads of room for pushchairs etc and highchairs available galore! Great little play area and such a great atmosphere.. Has lovely leather couches and art work for sale, just a good place to be with loads to look at! Can buy cheeses, homemade icecreams, and food options great.<br/> <br/>Me and Hubby and bubby visited about a month ago, as we had been told it was good for brunch..(we have struggled a bit by cramped brunch cafes &amp; not being able to fit a pram in or eat somewhere that may have a highchair!). Was so easy to get to the counter &amp; to the table!<br/><br/>Great friendly staff.. food excellent by way of having great taste &amp; flavour...I had the savoury muffin (feta cheese with bacon..yummy) and the Mushroom Soup I had was incredible.. Real dark mushrooms and the Chef even told my husband the recipe!<br/><br/>Was really busy with all different types of people in and out.. we are definately going back.. Well actually tomorrow, to take our visiting Pop &amp; an Aunty there!<br/>Keep it up Benedicts! :)
