Review Nature Vegetarian - Lower Hutt

Not the first time, and won't be the last for sure. The food is fresh, tasty, and good quantity. The staff, especially the owner/chef is very friendly and welcoming 😊

Extraordinary restaurant. Everything in the menu here is vegetarian. Vegan options are plenty. The Asian style food with dedicated vegetarian menu is the coolest thing I could ever find in the city. I'm glad they are open again. Just out of the world!

This small cozy Malaysian restaurant can leave you in a food coma. I drive people out here all the time, and people are consistently impressed with what they have to offer. This is a great place for takeaways or to communally binge with your friends. The curry rendang, and the crispy soya nuggets are musts for sharing, but there are just too many gems on this menu to name individually.

Absolutely delicious food, great service and a tranquil, homely atmosphere. I've been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. Highly recommend this place, especially if you are vegan or vegetarian.

I ordered their vegetarian fried rice to take away. Delicious! Generous amount with plenty of good vegetables.

Maybe not my first review but again this is my forever favorite dine in place in all Wellington. The fusion of several asian cuisine with the vegan twist is unbeatable. They are real chef and the food is always a great delight. Pictures on the menu are already mouth-watering, but when you get your meal, uggh HEAVEN!! i will give them 10 stars! So happy to support a small business that makes me travel in the courae of dining. Thank you

Excellent food. First time eating here after hearing and also reading their rave reviews! Everything we ordered was amazing! You can tell the food has had a lot of care and love put into it. The flavours are incredible! Restaurant is quite small, but has a very homely and welcoming feel to it. Wish i could rate them more than 5 stars! Absolutely loved it. Obsessed!!!

A very small, quaint restaurant-cross-takeaways place which looks fairly low key from the outside. Only a couple staff so food takes a while, but when it arrives it's delicious. Plenty of things to improve on, like the menus and the decor, the furniture etc. but plenty of potential - I can see this place becoming popular. The service was exceptional.

I went here tonight for the first time and was very impressed. We ordered takeaway. BBQ Bun, Wonton Noodle Soup, Egg Foo Yoong and Lemon Soya Nuggets. The food we ordered was beautiful. Being a Vegan it is very hard to find good vegan options without having to ask a place to make adjustments. Most times when we go out I resign myself to ordering vegetarian meals instead of constantly making requests to accommodate my vegan preference so to speak (it's just easier that way). The food we ordered was amazing! The Wonton Noodle soup was the best I have ever had, lots of flavour and very filling. The plant based protein that was in the noodle soup and also the soya nuggets were also the best I have ever had! Everything was fabulous and even my meat eating partner loved all the food we had. We will definitely be back :)

I've been going to this restaurant with my family for years and it never fails to disappoint! Delicious food and very nice service. I would recommend nature nuggets, steam buns with gravy, sweet and sour chop and/or the BBQ bun!

Friendly people with great service. Would recommend the Nasi Lemak - so good! Interesting mushroom “meat” and heaps of vegan options. Thank you.

Amazing, amazing, amazing! I can't believe I hadn't tried Nature's Vegetarian earlier! We bought the wontons (crispy with a flavoursome filling), natures nuggets (kids loved them! So succulent and yum), sweet and sour chop (yumyumyum, tasted quite coriander-y, but I love coriander so perfect for me!) and steamed buns with curry (similar to a roti chenai, or so I'm told, delicious and full of flavour with meaty balls throughout)
I've been a vegetarian for around 15 years and I've never had such a delicious takeaway meal! I will definitely be coming back again :)

Hands down my favorite place to eat in Wellington. Fresh, authentic, full of flavor, masters of tofu ! Family run, friendly service, smiling faces & cleaned up dishes. Can't ask for more ! Adopt me :)

Nature Vegetarian Cafe is my favourite place to get dinner. The interior of the shop is nice and cozy. There is a wonderful variety of vegetarian and vegan meals, none of which I have ever been disappointed in. The service is great and the portions are always large and filling.

It is always such a wonderful treat to get to go to Nature!

Perfect, clean delicious and soooooooooooooo good for you. Best Vegetarian spot in the whole of Wellington , tasty meals that provide the much needed vitamins your body craves during those cold Winter nights.

highly recommend the golden tofu - very good flavours. It's a cute little Asian restaurant, nice and clean with a very broad menu range. It is quite a small restaurant but very homely. Portions are rather small in comparison to price, but food are cooked well.

This little place has intrigued me for years and I finally got to go. It is one of those family run restaurants that is nothing flash but what keeps NZ a wonderful country to live in.
As the name suggests the food it all vegetarian and it is Malaysian cuisine, somewhere between Chinese, Thai and with a hint of Indian. The menu is long and there are various meat substitutes to try. To be honest, me and my friend were a little overwhelmed with the amount of choice and not knowing what some of the dishes were. We did something we never normally do and asked for help with choosing. The lovely lady was patient and explained the different dishes. She recommended that we start with the Steam Buns (2) With Gravy.
When it arrived it was split into two portions on seperate plate. There was a beautiful steamed bun, vegetarian burger and salad with pickles to make our own burgers. It was a delicious starter.
For main we eventually went with the Asam Bean curd Roll and the Crispy Soya Nuggets. Both dishes were from the special menu section.
The Crispy Soya Nuggets were very similar to orange beef and the morsels were very crispy and lovely. I was surprised at how much flavour there was.
The Asam Bean curd Roll blew my mind, I loved the taste and had never tasted anything like it. I have eaten my fair share of Asian food but this taste was something new. The beancurd roll was also very different but good too, it looked like egg plant but tasted different and soaked up the flavour. When I asked I was told the taste was many different herbs, spices and some of the ingredients such a ginger flower were not familiar to me.
All up, I was very surprised at how much I loved the food and me and my dining companion plan to go back regularly and eat our way through the menu.

I adore this place. It has such an extensive menu, with reasonable prices, and the service is always top notch. Highly recommended for anyone who loves great food!

Great food! Great service. Absolute terrific meat substitutes and for decent price too. Definitely will be here again and recommended to all my vegetarian friends.

I love this restaurant. The food is marvellous and the staff are top notch. The wontons are my favourite, followed closely by the curry noodle soup. This place is a definite must if you are after great vegan food.

Tofu Mixed is divine. Staff are great. Can be a bit cold inside but sit next to the heater! Have introduced many people to this hidden treasure.

Clean, cosy dining spot. The deep fried buns are just so fab - are a must try. It's a busy place - I would recommend calling in advance to minimize the wait time as the place gets pretty busy.

We ate there on a busy Friday night. We were served by the owner, he was very friendly and helpful. The food arrived really fast. We had a range of entrees and mains. I thought the curry puffs were particularly good. I chose the curry rending which was outstanding. This restaurant is really small, basic and kind of homely, but that just adds to the experience. We will definitely be taking the drive back out to the Hutt to visit this little gem again.

I really loved it! Went on a quiet Thursday night and was served by the owner, he was so so sweet and friendly and also gave us a 20 minute informative lesson on Chinese clay teapots before we left. Not to mention the food was very tasty, won tons were my favourite! I really recommend it, definitely worth the drive from town.

Warm friendly service. It can take a while sometimes to get your order but that is because they make it from scratch and do not do mass produced batches. I love the curry rendang and bbq buns and butter mushrooms. A fave takeaway is the curry fried noodles. Just thinking about it makes me want to head out now for a couple of their dishes. Eat in or take away. Forget the burger bar on the corner, check out Nature Veg. Yum. Delicious.

This is our whole families favourite restaurant... plus we take out alot too. Delicious!
Our two children are pretty fussy, and are definitely meat eaters, but they just love the wonton soup and the entree buns and tom yum rice. Delicious!!!! I can't speak highly enough of the food or the service. Top notch. Bring a coat if in winter as I have felt a little cold there at times.

Simply Amazing, Me, my husband and my baby visit this place almost every week, love it to bits, considering we are vegetarians ourselves, this place offers great variety of options. Their must try dish is Rendang and Lemek, MOUTHWATERING

I had the golden tofu and the vegatarian steak, being vegan it was great to see the selection offered, My eating partner had the wonton soup (unfortunately, we could not see one wonton in the soup!)and a noodle dish. I received my toful quickly enough, but then we waited for approx 35 - 40 minutes for the next dish, which was rather disappointing and we were starving by the time the food arrived! We kept on eagerly waiting and watching everybody else getting their food served and wondering how long we would have to wait. So would only do takeaway in the future, not sit in again. Waitress was nice enough, food was really amazing so tasty and (I guess) worth the wait. Great to have vegan food available that is nutritious, tastes great. Seating meant that we were at the mercy of who ever used the sliding door to enter or leave to actually close the door, meaning we often felt a draft and had to get up and close the door ourselves. Table that we sat at really had to be wipped down before we started as it had bits of carrot on it, so I suppose some attention to detail does lack, we ended up using a serviette and doing it ourselves. I asked if the lollies that were available at the cashiers desk were vegan and was told yes, just as well as I check ingredients myself as one of them was not vegan. So love the food but on the whole has room for improvement on other things that do matter and count.

The quality of the food is 2nd to none. The presentation of food is first class and every mouthful is an explosion of delishiousness. Well done for your contribution to violence free food in Wellington. Wish you were in the city, but then I'd probably be eating there every night.
Boris
The food was delicious! The presentation, service and manner of the staff was also outstanding.

I was not expecting vegetarian food that was better than non-vegetarian food - the vegetarian meat equivalents were fantastic: texture, taste, look, everything was as if it was meat.

I was pleasantly surprised and will be returning to work my way through the menu.
Discerning Vego
This is a small family run cafe. The best vego food in the region without a doubt! There are plenty of dishes to choose from and the food is delicious.
The BBQ buns, butter mushrooms, curry rendang and fried mee hoon are absolute favourites, as are the sweet and sour chop, steamed buns with gravy, and curry puffs.
Get along and check it out. Our carnivore friends go there now too!
They also have a takeaway menu, but you can also take away most dishes from the dine-in menu.
Warm respectful family service in a small cafe, that is well worth the effort even for meat eaters!!!

So delightful. So much love and care is put into the food and the staff are so friendly and sweet.

Delicious vegan food that omnivores seem to dig into as well. I love the curry with the steam bun, like eating a cloud with the most delicious rich curry sauce.

Will go back again and again.

This is by far the best Vegetarian Restaurant in Wellington if not further afield. The food is to die for, the curry puffs, bbq buns, steamed buns, vegetarian steaks...ohhh my mouth is watering! we will return again and again and again for dine in and take out! Don't go anywhere, your food is devine and everyone should get a chance to sample it !!!
Tim
I have to agree with the other reviews here. The food and service here is excellent! One of the best meals I've had in weeks. I wish Wellington had more vegetarian restaurants of this quality!
Lil'V
Okay so it's a bit more cafe than restaurant, but such FANTASTIC food. Lots of choices of wonderful vegetarian tastes. Really friendly hosts. We just wished we lived closer, even though they also do takeaway.
Kate
This is the best vegetarian restaurant in the Wellington region. I absolutely love the food! From the outside the restaurant may not look like much but the owner is so passionate about the food he cooks - he even helps you choose what dishes to get if you are unsure!

Mum and I went to Nature's Vegetarian for lunch today at the recommendation of a gluten free vegan friend. It was amazing going somewhere where 95% of the menu is vegan! She ordered Thai Style Fried Rice and I had Curry Meehoon Soup. I double checked with the waitress and both these items were gluten free.

The Curry Meehoon soup was beautiful, perfectly spiced and with plenty of rice noodles, vegetables and pieces of soy steak. It was a very generous serving and fantastic value for money. My mum's Thai Style Fried Rice tasted so fresh and flavoursome and I definitely want to get that next time we go.

My one recommendation to Nature's Vegetarian is to label their gluten free items on their menu. It can take a lot of hassle out of having to ask about each dish. Other than that, the service, food and atmosphere was very hard to fault.
