Dangerous place to visit. Great coffee & hot drinks plus the desserts are fantastic. We went there for the food and drink not the internet which there isn't any but when your eating great chocolate and drinking real chocolate who cares...if you do then go somewhere else. Your there to enjoy and eat not to work. Great service and comfortable chairs.

This cafe is really nice. The staff are nice and friendly. I love the little chocolate truffles that you get to choose with your hot beverage. I always go for the hot chocolate. It is quite rich, but very delicious. I would definitely recommend this cafe as a nice place to go.

I always head into Butlers for a takeaway coffee when I pick up a game from EB games next door. Decided to sit in this time and enjoy the beautiful decor inside the shop. Really nice chocolate and coffee, I usually order a Mocha with Caramel or White Mocha. I look forward to trying one of their milkshakes the next time I go in. Always great service and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Pretty decent flavours and selection in a friendly and accommodating, cosy little store! I visited for a Valentine's gift and was glad I did! Not what is generally considered inexpensive, however worth the expense in my opinion. I would happily recommend!

What is not to like about a place that feels like a comfortable blanket? It's consistent in it's food offerings and chocolates, either solid or in hot liquid form. Who doesn't like choosing a chocolate that comes on a little dish to be tasted with their coffee or tea? I like the range of counter food that includes the delicious white chocolate cake and the domed red, glazed delight. The staff are pleasant and helpful. I especially like the loyalty program and loyal I am to it's good coffee, comfy, no hard edges, chocky presence which provides a nice place to restore oneself or meet a friend. For edgier food I can go somewhere else but for a warm blanky experience, I come here.

Absolutely the best coffee I had experience so far in New Zealand (4 years). We ordered mocha and hot chocolate and they were fantastic! The barista made a really good coffee, smooth creamy texture of mochaccino

We have always found the service and quality of coffee and chocolates at Butlers in Queensgate and Lambton Square outstanding! The staff are simply wonderful and I cannot praise the efforts of Jason, Sonny and Maria (at your Queensgate location) and Jack, Jane and Felicity at your Lambton Square shop enough! Your staff really make the coffee experience worthwhile and memorable. They are a treasure and I am so happy you have such wonderful people working for you in these two cafes to make my coffee break time so enjoyable! Thank you - and a tremendous thanks to Jason, Sonny, Maria, Jack, Jane and Felicity! They are awesome people! Regards, Kathy and Steve Wright, Wellington NZ.

The chocolates are out-of-this world, especially the raspberry penne cotta and the pink Himalayan. Their mocha is divine, no other place comes close. Espresso is up there too. But the big tick is in the service, especially with new manager at the helm. Courteous, attentive and prompt - makes the experience always enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Ordered the chilli mocha which had no hint of chilli whatsoever. Pleasantly surprised about the truffle included in the price though; I tried the butter praline which was yummy.

Frankly I do not understand why a sweet shop sells coffees. The chocs are not too bad, though I think a tad on the expensive side, but I can think of no reason to eat there. The concept of a dessert parlour escapes me entirely.

Staff are OK, ambiance none, it is in a mall for heaven's sake.

After seeing they had a dessert menu when visiting for just a coffee, my mother and I decided to return for a full on chocolate dessert experience today. Although many others have noticed that the service could be improved, I found it adequate, if a little half-hearted. I however am not one to focus on the intricacies of service when I have come for the food only. Well it didn't disappoint! I had a chocolate decadence icecream sundae and a caramel praline milkshake, my mother had the chocolate lava cake (requesting added whipped cream) and a cappuccino. The servings were generous but not so much we couldn't finish them and absolutely delicious. They were also beautifully presented. The actual food and drinks are the make-or-break for me, not the idle chit-chat so I have to say I will be back to try other items on the dessert menu next time I feel like a real calorific treat.

I have been a very regular customer at Butlers Lower Hutt for years and seldom have reason to complain. Have come to conclusion that it must have changed hands recently as no familiar faces, three chaps and one girl running around like headless chooks. Too much personal interaction going on and not enough customer service. One customer had to leave to get her soy lattee upstairs as they "do do soy" heaven above this is 2014. She was back with her takeaway before her hubby got his coffee. Ours took 20 minutes to arrive, unacceptable when there were only four tables with customers as the balance of tables were covered with crockery which made people decide not to join the fiasco. Come on guys sort it out you have fabulous coffee and business so fix it so we can return.

Excellent coffee, great ambiance and friendly service.

Butler's Cafe has always pleased me with their quality of beverage and service. I am not much of a sweet tooth but i love their chocolate selections especially the dark ones. I frequently visit butler's cafe at Westfield Mall, Queensgate. My flat white is always perfect just the way i like it and staff are very good in remembering me and my drink. You always get a warm welcome and a free chocolate with your drink. I would definitely recommend Butler's Cafe to anyone visiting the Mall !

While out doing my Xmas shopping in Westfield today. I came across this Cafe, and I must say I am so glad I did.

I had a fantastic coffee and my daughter had a Sundae. They were both great!
The lady that served us was very helpfully and very patient while my daughter choose the flavour of her Sundae.

I would recommend Butlers Cafe to anyone! I can't wait to go back again.

I discovered Butlers about a year ago and intend on visiting as often as possible - loving the huge range of chocolates and chocolate desserts and the lady also let me choose a chocolate to go with my hot chocolate. I would absolutely recommend Butlers Cafe to anyone with a sweet tooth like me!

Went in to look at the boxed chocolates by the entrance & inside the glass counter. Ended up leaving as couldn't concentrate on what I was looking at with the lady behind the counter (right in front of me) watching like a hawk the whole time waiting for me to buy something and wasn't very friendly. Don't think she even looked away for 1 second. I'd take a step to the right, she'd take a step to the left (i.e. in the same direction as she was facing me). It was a bit off putting and I just walked out shaking my head. As for the coffee I haven't tried it as heard from a few friends it's not very nice.

One star and I'm being generous! I visited the coffee shop with relatives from Christchurch a couple of weekends ago. All was good until we didn't get our 4th drink. The diva barista came out and asked if we had ordered on a different ticket. Told me that we didn't order it and I replied that all we wanted was the 4th drink to which she turned around stomped her foot threw the docket on the ground. I went up to the counter to pay for the 4th drink and told the 3 other staff who were meandering around the counter that they offered cr** service. The manager then took me aside and told me the staff were doing the best they could (it wasn't even busy - perhaps 6 other people in the shop), and that she didn't appreciate her staff being spoken to in that way. Well I didn't appreciate being spoken to by the diva (who incidentally then turned around and accused me that she was NOW making the drink in a very derogatory way). No apology - guess I won't be going there ever.

The chocolate that came with the hot drink was pretty good.

As for the coffee itself, it was terrible! To give them a chance, I ordered two different beverages (a long-black and a mocha) to judge two of their drinks.

The long black was over-extracted, its crema dissipated by the time it reached me and the water volume was too great.
The mocha was served far too hot! The foam was terrible, only covering the surface of the beverage (almost like flat white foam).

We are regular customers, we go to Butlers because of the very friendly and helpful staff. The coffee is always good and hot (I suggest that if it is lukewarm that you return it, I'm sure the staff would be more than happy to remake your coffee), we would not hesitate to recommend Butlers as a unique coffee shop.

went there a few months back for a coffee which was awful and cold - so decided to try it again last week. I took my visiting sister-in-law and thought I'd have a hot chocolate this time (being a chocolate establishment). I should have known better, luke-warm hot chocolate - I had to apologize to my visiting guest. Wont be back for a 3rd try!!
